I, personally adore this ship with all my heart.
I don't know whether, in my opinion, it's better than Hinanami, or not, but I honestly think this ship, is super cute.
How The Personalities Work:
Chiaki is usually, gaming or sleeping. Sonia is always a really cheer girl, who doesn't know much, as she was grown up as a Princess, and she didn't know much slang and stuff.
Chiakis personality can help her in a way, as it's very calming, and she can be very patient with Sonia, when Sonia is trying to learn about the slangs and stuff.
Sonia, is also a believing person, so she can forever believe in Chiaki for achieving her goal.
Chances of it Being Canon?
Not likely, but there are some scenes in the anime, and game, that make people ship Soniaki.
In the game, the only one who was still trying to defend Chiaki, when she was being accused, was Sonia, Sonia cared about her friend so much, and didn't want her to die, but so did Hajime, but Hajime knew to accuse her of being the traitor.
In the anime, the ending of it, Sonia and Chiaki were always so close to each other. People honestly would be thinking Sonia would mainly be near Gundham, as they are very close friends, but nope, all the images, Sonia was mainly near Chiaki.
