78 is the non-binary ship between Seven and Eight from the Battle for Dream Island fandom.
Canon[]
As Four asks Eight if he's going to cry due to not being in the sub count as well, Eight tells Four that he's not petty like Seven is. He accuses them of only caring about being in the spotlight.
When Four demands Seven that they leave the sub count so Eight can take their place, Eight is indifferent about it. Later when Eight asks Nine what their plan is to rescue Six from the sky, Seven grows wary of them because they plan to kick them out of the sub count. Now with a plan, Seven reluctantly agrees to allow Nine, Eight, X, and Four stand on them to get Six back. After Six is back on the ground, Seven angrily pushes everyone off of their head. Eight calls for them to kick Seven out of the sub count and after Seven is launched away, Eight nonchalantly takes their place.
Eight and Seven play Go Fish with Six. Eight asks if they have any sevens, prompting Seven to launch themself onto the card pile. Afterwards when Eight is unfamiliar with who Ten is, Seven asks how he could not know them and explains how they help everyone around them.
As Five yells at Seven to not eat the pawns in chess, Eight wishes he would stop playing games with them. After Nine and Six break up from being fused together as Fifteen, Nine approaches Eight and asks him and Seven to add up to Fifteen in the sub count. Eight is unsure about the idea and Seven resists doing so.
As Eight plays Jenga with Five, Six, Nine, and Ten, Seven greets them and wonders what they're up to. A green Seven then greets them as well to Eight's confusion. Later after the numbers realize Seven was framed, Eight carries the green Seven as the real Seven acknowledges the confusion and says they won't hold any grudges.
Fanon[]
78 is a rarepair in the Battle for Dream Island fandom as well as within algebralian ships. The ship has few supporters likely due to the shorts not offering too much of an insight on their dynamic other than being part of the bigger Equation Playground friend group. Even if not in a shipping sense, their early establishment in the channel's shorts series often tie the two together. Fan art of the two usually reflects the games they play in the shorts, such as Go Fish and Eight dealing with Seven breaking the rules of chess. As a ship, the pairing is overshadowed by pairings such as 810, 79, and 67.
