79 is the non-binary ship between Seven and Nine from the Battle for Dream Island fandom.
Canon[]
While the numbers are planning on how to kick Seven out of the sub count, Four invites Nine into the situation hoping they have a plan. Seven is bothered by their arrival and exclaims that they'll stay put when Eight asks Nine about getting Six down from the sky. Nine tells Seven that Eight wasn't talking to them and they can go "talk to the hand". After the Four, X, Eight, and Nine all stack on top of Seven, they tell them to get off of them. After Nine wishes Seven would be quiet, Four tells the two that they're making the tower wobbly and instructs them to get along, which they reluctantly do. After Four successfully grabs Six, Seven pushes Nine and the others off of his head.
When Five is annoyed by Nine's return, Seven calls Nine tasty as a reference to the "Why was 6 afraid of 7" joke. Seven tries to explain it to Five but they are disgusted by the fact that Seven called Nine tasty in the first place and disapproves of the cannibalism. Later as Nine brainstorms with Six on how they can kick Eight out of the sub count, Six and Nine squeeze Seven to prove Six's point on how Seven is lighter than Eight. As Six is unfazed when Seven brings up the joke from earlier, Nine calls Seven pretty scary.
As the numbers argue over who gets to go retrieve Ten, Seven breaks up a disagreement between Six and Nine and announces that they will go get Ten. Seven and Nine, along with X, Five, and Six, become contestants of Four's show deciding who gets the honors of meeting Ten. At the final three, Four announces that Nine and Seven are moving on to the finale while Five doesn't.
Nine pleads for Eight and Seven to add up to fifteen so they can stay in the subscriber count in Fifteen's place instead of Nine and Six doing so. Seven objects to the idea, however.
While Five, Six, Eight, Nine, and Ten play Jenga, Seven greets them, calling them their friends. When Fourteen, in the appearance of a green Seven, approaches them, Five suspects that Fourteen divided himself into two Sevens and Nine takes the real Seven away. Not knowing that they have the actual Seven, Nine places Seven down in front of an addition symbol next to the green Seven in the hopes of locking Fourteen back up in jail.
Fanon[]
79 is a popular ship for both Seven and Nine, being fairly popular overall within the algebralians of the fandom. Part of its growth within fans of the Jacknjellify shorts involved the aforementened "7 8 (ate) 9" joke referenced within the shorts. The two have also been noted to be similar in the sense of them being portrayed as the dumber one in other ships revolving them, while they have a better sense of each other in how fans see their dynamic. The ship has gained a following across multiple platforms, such as fan art through Tumblr, video editors on TikTok and animation memes on YouTube. The ship is rivaled mainly by 96 as well as other algebralian ships such as 67 and 89.
On AO3, there are four works under their romantic tag and three under the platonic tag. It is the most written ship for Seven and the second most for Nine, behind their ship with Six.
