AKAM is the slash ship between Shuichi Akai and Rei Furuya from the Detective Conan fandom.
Canon[]
Since joining the Black Organization, Rei has considered Shuichi a worthy rival. Wanting to compare his capacity with Shuichi and believing that he is the only one who could defeat Shuichi. Shuichi always shows respect towards Rei, feeling interest every time he faces Rei and makes him feel quite confused sometimes. Their relationship becomes more bitter and dramatic when a misunderstanding causes Rei to believe Shuichi killed his best friend - Scotch, but actually the one who indirectly caused Scotch to die was Rei himself. Shuichi chooses not to tell Rei and continues to let Rei believe him instead of letting Rei know that painful truth. Over time, Shuichi appears to help and protect Rei and gradually wants to compensate for the losses which Rei has experienced. Not wanting to be Rei's enemy. For now, Rei is temporarily lowering his hatred to working well with Shuichi and Conan in destroying the Black Organization.

One of the biggest appeals of the ship is the sad background surrounding the two's relationship. Many finding it agonizing how the two ended up apart, and want to see them return to their friendship. After Movie 20 was broadcast, the scene where they fought on the Ferriss Wheel, caused many fans to want to know more about them. In just one night, "AkaiAmuro" became a hot search on so many social networking platforms in Japan and even other countries.
Many shippers have called Gosho Aoyama, author of Detective Conan franchise, "Lovely Ship Captain" as he is the one who suggested to production that the scene be in the movie. Rei is good at anything, but everytime he confronts Shuichi, he always loses his temper and can't defeat him. Shuichi being Rei's weak point and one of the only people who can make him confused, is also an appeal for many shippers. As it shows more vulnerability in Rei than when he's interacting with other characters.
Most fan content tends to be really dramatic. Typical scenarios for fics and art often iclude: Rei is shy when dealing with Shuichi and is overpowered by Shuichi; both were drugged while on a mission and "ran into each other" all night; Okiya, Shuichi's fake identity, being out in a place where Rei works and stealthily "attacking" him. There are also some stories involving other characters such as their family, comrades and friends help them develop their relationship.
Currently, fans are looking forward to seeing the two will resolve the misunderstanding, something many often explore in fan works. Most hoping that Shuichi will be there to ease Rei's pain after he learns the truth about Scotch's death. Many fans want the series Rei will take care of Shuichi if he gets seriously injured because of protecting Rei in final battle. Followed by them defeating the Black Organization and taking each other on a trip, leaving their suffering behind.
Coincidentally, both have three names. Their codename Rye and Bourbon, their fake name's Okiya Subaru and Amuro Tooru and their birth name's, Akai Shuichi and Furuya Rei. The fan week for them is called "Forgiven". The name comes from a blend alcohol, which combines Rye and Bourbon. Forgiven also represents the fans wishing that one day Rei will forgive Shuichi.
On Pixiv there are almost 26000 works. On AO3, AKAM is the most written ship for both Rei and Shuichi. It is also the second most written ship in the Detective Conan tag. There are currently 1300+ written works.
