Pre-The Rise of Darkrai[]

Accordshipping childhood

Tonio waking Alice up in their childhood.

Tonio and Alice are childhood friends. One Alice was on top of a cliff and was calling Tonio, who was below, to play with her. Tonio warns Alice that it is dangerous to walk over the edge of the cliff, but Alice ignores the warning and walks, which causes her to fall off the cliff. When Tonio wanted to save her, she runs off as fast as she could, only to find that she was saved by Darkrai, a legendary Pokémon that often warns sleeping people that something disastrous is about to happen through the nightmares Darkrai causes. After placing Alice on the ground, Darkrai leaves.

Accordshipping childhood hug

Alice falls in love with Tonio and hugs him, believing he saved her.

Tonio tries to wake up Alice who was unconscious from falling off the cliff, at the same time he noticed that there was this Pokémon hiding in the shadows of the forest, which turns out to be Darkrai. Alice wakes up and believing that it was Tonio who saved her, she tells him to his face. And before Tonio could say otherwise, Alice hugs him and says "I love you", which causes Tonio to develop his romantic feelings for Alice from then on. Tonio decided not to tell her the truth until the right time to do so.

The Rise of Darkrai[]

Alice, now an adult, appears in a hot air balloon. She offers to help Ash, Brock and Dawn. Already in the balloon, Alice tells the whole story about a space-time tower, mentioning Godey, a legendary architect and Tonio's great-grandfather.

Arriving at Alamos Village, Alice shows Ash and his friends the garden designed by Godey. A Gallade decides to warn Alice and her group that something bad has been happening with the pillars in the garden, so she decides to investigate. Upon arriving at the scene, a man named Baron Albert arrives saying that the one responsible for this disaster was Darkrai. Hearing the rustling of leaves, Alberto calls his Lickylicky and orders him to use Hyper Beam on the bushes believing it is Darkrai, but in reality it was Tonio with his laptop, who could only say "What did you do that for...?"

Alice saying she likes Tonio

In front of Baron Albert, Alice says louder that she likes Tonio when she is in his side.

Tonio reveals that something was happening as an anomaly in space-time. One of the pieces of the pillars falls on Tonio's head, which makes Alice worry. Baron Albert then tries to flirt with Alice, but Alice rejects him, besides Brock and Dawn not liking the idea of Albert being Alice's husband either. When Baron Alberto says that he and Alice were going to be married, Tonio looks worried. But when Alice says that she had continuously said no, he is relieved.

Dawn comes to Alice's defense, but is silenced by Alberto. Alice manages to dodge an attempt by Alberto to hug her and she hurries over to Tonio, returns his laptop, and states right out loud that she likes Tonio. After Alberto's remark of saying it was the funniest joke he has heard, Tonio lies by saying that it was a joke. Alice turns away in disgust. But Tonio suddenly remembers that moment when Alice hugged him when they were kids and considers Alice's feelings.

Alice is all the time next to Tonio when Darkrai appears. Baron Albert has his Lickylicky attack him, but he dodges it and uses Dark Void in an attempt to hit Lickylicky, but Lickylicky also dodges it, causing the attack to land on Ash, putting him to sleep. However, Ash has his nightmare where he dreams that he is swallowed by the earth. Tonio and Alice, with everyone, take the sleeping Ash to the Pokémon center, where he recovers.

Alice and the group enter the tower, having their friends explore it and at the same time searching for Tonio. When Alice arrives at Tonio's laboratory, she finds that he has been lying on the floor, looking unconscious, causing Alice to worry about him and pick him up. Upon waking him up, Tonio is happy to see Alice, but she puts him back on the floor assuming he was just asleep.

Tonio tells Alice that he found a reference because of nightmares. He also found a picture of Alice's grandmother, who was with Godey in the photo, which also contained a sheet of music. Tonio and Alice show the old music machine to Ash and his friends, climbing to the top of the tower. After they finish installing the music discs, they return to the hot air balloon to descend. Alice stays behind to accompany Ash and his friends, while Tonio returns to his lab.

Suddenly, a strange phenomenon occurs that threatens to distort space and time. The tower begins to create a force field that encloses the entire town of Alamos. Following this, a Darkrai appears, putting all the Pokémon in this place to sleep to cause them nightmares. Tonio and Alice meet up to help in any way they can at a Pokémon center.

AccordShipping hug

Alice hugs Tonio one more time for saving her.

Tonio, with the help of his computer, discovers the real culprit of the disaster, who turns out to be Palkia, the legendary space Pokémon. Soon, Darkrai attacks him, but Palkia transports the entire Alamos village to another dimension, in order to try to hide from his feared rival. Soon, said rival reveals itself, revealing itself to be Dialga, the legendary Pokémon of time. The battle between Dialga and Palkia begins to collapse the town's dimensional boundary and they have to do something. Tonio tells Alice that to stop this, they need the prayer, the song that Alice's grandmother taught her granddaughter. Tonio and Alice task Ash and Dawn to put the pieces of the disks back together before the tower disintegrates. Baron Alberto tries to save Alice from the broken hot air balloon using his Lickylicky, but he fails to do so, releasing Alice, who is actually saved by Tonio and his Drifblim. Alice hugs him. The song starts playing in time and Dialga and Palkia calm down, stopping fighting. Palkia restores all the damage caused and everything returns to normal.

The Rise of Darkrai[]

  • Alice finally attaches herself to Tonio, implying that they plan to get married soon.

Fanon[]

AccordShipping is one of the popular ships canon within the Pokémon movie fanbase. It is not usually discussed about it in the normal anime fanbase, as Alice and Tonio are characters exclusive to the movies.

Fans who love this ship focus on how Tonio and Alice developed all their feelings since they were children. And more so when Alice decides to be "faithful" to Tonio, as shown by rejecting Baron Albert, Furthermore, its fans consider this to be a canon ship with better development, speculating that this ship is surpassing even Ash's ships and being on par with QuestShipping (Jimmy x Marina).

Because this ship is canon from the beginning, this ship has almost no rival ships, overshadowing even RepulseShipping (Baron Albert x Alice).
