- Shortly after I parted ways with you, I unintentionally walked into a ball, and a woman wearing a dark veil invited me to dance together with her. Hehe, this was my first time dancing... an unforgettable experience.
- —Acheron about Black Swan in "Gentleness, the Name of Nocturne".
AcherSwan is the femslash ship between Acheron and Black Swan from the Honkai: Star Rail fandom.
Canon[]
Acheron and Black Swan are both Penacony characters originally established as VIP Guests invited to The Feast to represent their respective factions, The Galaxy Rangers and The Garden Of Recollection. However, in "Whodunit" it was revealed by Aventurine that Acheron was not actually a Galaxy Ranger, her true identity being that of an Emanator of Nihility, a Self Annihilator. In fact, Acheron was not even invited to The Feast, as she obtained her invitation by murdering Duke Inferno and stealing the invitation The Annihilation Gang had received, with her motivation behind it simply being that she sought The Watchmaker's Legacy. The two first met one another off screen in the end of "The Youths Who Chase Dreams", as revealed by Acheron in "Gentleness, the Name of Nocturne", and shown in the Animated Short "Rondo Across Countless Kalpas".
Acheron is an Emanator of Nihility, a Self Annihilator, who originates from the now destroyed planet Izumo. Acheron is a very serious and introverted person to the point of coming off as aloof. Due to her status as a Self Annihilator, she possesses an extremely poor memory, which is the reason behind her complete lack of directional skills. Despite seeming to be a cold and emotionless person, after Firefly's death her cold and stoic mask was shown to break, showing her as the naturally melancholic and depressive person she is. Like all Self Annihilators, she believes that her existence is completely meaningless and does not enjoy living, but holds the belief that the past shapes people into who they are today, and it is important to try and move on from the past.
Black Swan is a Memokeeper from The Garden Of Recollection, who originates from an unknown planet. She is shown to be an extroverted person with a gentle and teasing personality, frequently calling characters pet names such as "dear" or "darling". Due to being both an extremely intelligent individual and a Memokeeper, she holds information about the world others could never hope to imagine, and therefore is willing to make difficult choices for the greater good. As a Memokeeper, she does not possess a physical body, having long since abandoned it to travel freely through worlds as a Memetic Entity. She feels very strongly about collecting unique memories, with that being the goal her life strives towards. Like all Memokeepers, she holds the belief that life is fleeting, and the only eternal thing is memory, therefore if something is preserved in memory it lives forever.
Acheron and Black Swan appear to have quite different personalities, and their differing personalities complement each other perfectly in a very unique dynamic. Acheron especially has a high view of Black Swan, which is furthered more in Chinese and Japanese than English, and speaks of her in quite an affectionate way, frequently bringing up their dance together and how much it meant to her, as it was the first time in years she had received such a kind gesture. Black Swan was originally very fascinated by Acheron, intending to make Acheron her dance partner, but after the events of their dance together she became weary and somewhat distrustful of Acheron due to what she saw in Acheron's memories. However, Black Swan was willing to ally with Acheron, and two co-operated and got along well. After it was revealed that Black Swan rescued Acheron and brought her back to the Express, their relationship had taken a positive turn, as Black Swan was able to understand Acheron properly due to presumably learning her backstory, with their relationship having officially developed into that of friends after awakening from Ena's dream.
However, despite them being shown to have very differing personalities, deep down they are much more alike than they appear to be. Black Swan was described as someone who is "always smiling" in the 2.0 livestream, as well as her drip marketing saying that "the thoughts that guide her are hard to glean." Black Swan appears to be like Kafka in the sense that she does not show her true emotions, and her "personality" shown is not who she truly is. Furthermore, in an interview Black Swan's JP VA, Nabatame Hitomi, she said that her impression of Black Swan was that she had a "weary ambiance" or "gloomy mood". "Fable of the Stars" also described Black Swan as someone who is "aloof, passive, and dull and has no wish to be involved with other people or things", which is the exact opposite of how Black Swan is portrayed to be on screen. Therefore, it is extremely likely that deep down the two are both equally aloof, introverted, wearisome and sad.
Gentleness, The Name Of Nocturne[]
After running into a very distressed Clockie who begs them to help Misha, the main character and Firefly arrive at the scene, spotting both Acheron and Misha cornered. After using Clockwork, the main character is able to rescue both Acheron and Misha from the Gangster Boss, to which Acheron thanks the main character for their help and compliments Firefly on her looks. The main character brings up Clockie, to which Acheron inquires about him, remarking that it is unfortunate she can not see and communicate with him like they can. She then comments that she originally thought the main character's heightened perception might have been caused by the "elegant Memokeeper", but that she now realizes there are many beings as special as her in this dream. Having not yet met Black Swan, the player is given two options to inquire about the identity of the "elegant Memokeeper".
Depending on the player's previous choices, one of three dialogues in bright red text will trigger. The first dialogue states that a short while after Acheron parted ways with the main character, she accidentally walked into a ball where she met Black Swan, and the latter invited her to dance, with it being Acheron's first time dancing and an unforgettable experience. The second dialogue states that after she parted ways with the main character, she met Black Swan and the two had a good time discussing the event whilst drinking together. The third dialogue differs slightly from the other two, especially in English, as Acheron states that the two first met when she noticed Black Swan spying on her, and they had a very deep conversation, the details of which she does not think are important to recall.
Regardless of which dialogue is triggered, Acheron then states that it was unfortunate that she forgot to ask for the Memokeeper's name, and that she only knows she comes from "The Garden Of Recollection". Firefly then inquires if The Garden Of Recollection are the group who serve The Aeon Of Remembrance, Fuli, to which Acheron agrees, pointing out the similarities between Memokeepers and Clockie. She thanks the main character once again for their help, and after wishing they have a pleasant time in Penacony, takes her leave.
Should One Awaken At Midnight[]
Whilst the main character was exploring the Dreamscape with Black Swan, they ran into Acheron as she was surrounded by monsters. Black Swan and Acheron both expressed their surprise at seeing one another there. If the player chooses to inquire if they know each other, Acheron affirms the statement, revealing Black Swan to be the "elegant Memokeeper" she mentioned before. The two pause their discussion as Black Swan draws attention back to the monsters, whilst Acheron remarks she is indebted to both Black Swan and the main character for their help.
After the battle, Acheron asks what the two of them are doing there, to which Black Swan remarks she could ask the same thing of her. Acheron's response is one of three dialogue options, either that she ended up here due to helping the Bloodhounds in tracking down a wanted criminal, that she ran into Sparkle who decided to send her here for an unknown reason, or that she was investigating the rumors about the Watchmaker's Legacy and ended up here. However, regardless of which dialogue Acheron says, Black Swan does not seem able to see it, and instead asks Acheron if she is hiding anything, to which Acheron responds that she does not think she could hide anything from a Memokeeper. If the player chooses to remark that they can hide things from Black Swan, Acheron is very impressed and asks if they can teach her, to which Black Swan remarks that they can not, and were simply joking. Acheron compliments their timely arrival, suggesting that they join forces given their destination is the same, and whilst she can protect the main character from harm she still will need Black Swan's help. Black Swan asks the main character what they think about this, and they agree, with Acheron expressing her gratitude and telling Black Swan she is glad to be with her once more.
Along with the main character, the two exit the room, entering an upside room which surprises Acheron. Black Swan tells them this is typical for the Memory Zone, and they will have to walk on the ceiling. Acheron deadpans that they are walking on the ceiling, to which Black Swan laughs that Acheron's words speak sense, and then assists them in walking onto the "ceiling", an act that impresses Acheron. They arrive at an elevator which is seemingly an exit, however it leads to another distorted place, causing Black Swan to resort to some "inelegant methods" to help them leave. However, she notices Firefly still in the Dreamscape, with something hot on her tail, and instead directs the other two to go help her. They arrive shortly at Firefly's location, and the main character runs forward in delight while Acheron and Black Swan exchange equally suspicious expressions. Something Unto Death suddenly appears, charging forward and snatching Firefly up. Before any of them can react, it kills her and drops her body to the ground. Acheron and Black Swan both sport equally horrified expressions as the main character runs forward in an attempt to catch Firefly. Firefly explodes into blue goo and dissipates into memory bubbles, leaving the main character crying on the floor whilst Acheron and Black Swan both glare at the meme, before turning down to stare at the main character.
Firefly's death left the main character extremely shaken, and both Acheron and Black Swan attempt to help calm them down, offering words of comfort. Due to Himeko and March 7th's safety being threatened, Black Swan takes her temporary leave, requesting Acheron take care of the main character while she is gone. Acheron complies and apologizes to them, blaming herself entirely for Firefly's death, and then reminding them not to let pain dictate their thoughts. Black Swan returns, revealing that Himeko and March 7th were caught by The Family, therefore Black Swan must now take the two back to reality. Acheron asks her if she is able to open some sort of teleporter, but Black Swan says the main character's mental state is too fragile for now, before reaffirming that they really should go, as there is more that they can do for Firefly on the way out, namely investigating what happened. Acheron agrees with Black Swan that investigating would be good, and takes a moment to say a proper goodbye to Firefly before exiting with Black Swan and the main character.
Whodunit[]
Black Swan and Acheron make their way to the VIP floor along with the main character to investigate Firefly's death, and Black Swan wonders why the memoria is getting hot, prompting to Acheron respond that she noticed it too. Shortly after, the two both stumble across charred remains of monsters, and upon investigating them Acheron asks Black Swan what she thinks of the situation and the culprit, to which the latter tells her she is not sure she can draw a conclusion with such little clues. Acheron tells her to trust her gut, given she was the one who said The Remembrance does not lie, causing Black Swan to reveal she suspects the culprit was tall and far stronger than an adult male, likely an assassin. She comes to the conclusion that the culprit would have entered through the lobby door and after going further into the hotel witnessed everything that happened, furthering the urgency that they must hurry to where Firefly's presence was imprinted before it is too late.
Along with the main character the two of them arrive at a large room, somewhat akin to a banquet hall, to which Acheron points out the magnificent sight, inquiring if this is where Firefly imprinted. Black Swan agrees with her statement, stating that where Firefly imprinted is right below this room, they just need to simply destroy the chandelier in order to create a route down. Acheron and the main character comply, the chandelier falling causing a huge hole to open up the ground, to which Black Swan stacks dream bubbles in order to give them a safe landing. Acheron remarks that their safe landing was amazing, praising Black Swan's abilities to manipulate memoria.
After a short battle with some unwelcome monsters, Black Swan is able to draw from the memories of Firefly the room left behind, causing a shadow of memory to appear. The shadow of memory takes the form of Firefly, prompting Acheron to inquire if it is indeed her, to which Black Swan affirms her statement, saying she was able to gather the memories of her left behind. The three of them listen to the words the shadow of Firefly's memory speaks, and Acheron comments that Firefly mentioned the main character's name, to which Black Swan agrees with her, remarking that the two must have been close. When interacting with another shadow of memory, Acheron frowns that Firefly seems to be nervous, wondering what was causing that, prompting Black Swan to agree with her, also curious on what was making her so nervous. The two are both quickly are able to come to the conclusion that Firefly had a companion who betrayed her, with them likely being the culprit behind her murder. Acheron questions why her companion chose to do this, to which Black Swan tells her that Firefly's companion likely also had their eyes on The Watchmaker's Legacy that she was pursuing, perhaps even using her as bait.
Their investigation nearing an end, lead by the main character the two make their way back to the location of Firefly's death, only to find Sam, who had been waiting for their arrival. Black Swan and the main character immediately step forward, facing Sam as they stand in the middle of a sea of burning corpses, the stench of them causing Black Swan to hold her nose and fan the air. Acheron steps forward, warning the other two to be careful. Sam turns to face them, identifying Acheron as a Galaxy Ranger and Black Swan as a Memokeeper, warning them to leave, or else they will have to kill them. Threatened by their words, Acheron quickly engages in battle with Sam, with the two seemingly being quite evenly matched in terms of strength. Before the main character is able to step in to help Acheron however, Black Swan remarks that they should leave the fighting to those two, before forcefully teleporting them away.
At the new location, an eagerly waiting Aventurine thanks Black Swan for her hard work, and reveals to the main character that Black Swan brought them here as part of the deal she made with him, remarking that she in fact saved them from the hands of Acheron, as she is an Emanator of Nihility. Not willing to believe this, the main character returns to Black Swan to talk with her about everything that just happened. When asking her who she thinks the mastermind is, Black Swan states that she thinks Firefly's situation is very interconnected with Sam, just as they suspected, despite Aventurine's insistence it is Acheron. She remarks that she is unsure why he drew that conclusion, but she also believes that Acheron is hiding something. Although she does not distrust her entirely, nor view her as an enemy she suspects she is hiding something, and from a previous encounter she gained the knowledge that Duke Inferno was indeed murdered. And therefore in this golden soirée, Acheron is the centerpiece that Black Swan pays the most attention to.
The Devil In Velvet[]
After providing the main with character a proposal, Aventurine takes his leave and leaves them alone with Black Swan. Upon approaching Black Swan, the player is given an option to inquire if she thinks the situation is related to Acheron, to which she apologizes and states she cannot answer that question, as Acheron is so mysterious no one could possibly have an answer. She then adds that there is no doubt that Acheron is the most special guest at this banquet, and tells the main character that like Aventurine said, it would be best for them to keep their distance from her.
After finishing talking to Black Swan, she leads the main character through The Dreamscape so that they can reunite with The Express. A short while later, they arrive at the location and she remarks that this where they part ways, as she has some personal business she needs to attend to that is related to Acheron, and promptly parts ways with the main character.
Lost Generation[]
Following her departure from The Dreamscape, Black Swan makes her way to Acheron's room in reality to conduct the personal business she previously mentioned. She remarks that she had been watching Acheron for a long time, and the first "invitation" was in the hotel banquet hall. She muses that Acheron had been silently hiding in a corner whilst drinking cups of "Like Awakening From A Dream", and when Black Swan told her it was an unpleasant drink, only for people who did not like SoulGlad, Acheron said that to her, it tasted no different.
Upon safely arriving in Acheron's room, Black Swan comments that the guest rooms are charmingly minimalistic, an aesthetic Acheron herself shares. She quickly locates the invitation that Acheron stole from The Annihilation Gang, and prepares to read the memories that linger on it. Black Swan begins monologuing as if Acheron was present and Black Swan was currently speaking to her, telling the empty room that memories are not unique to her alone, and with some work even the dead can speak, asking what happened to The Annihilation Gang after they met her.
As Black Swan begins reading the memories, she sees the memory of when the invitation was first delivered, before seeing the next memory, of when The Ever Flame Mansion began journeying to Penacony. Black Swan then remarks that as she will return soon, it is okay to be less elegant and give it her all. However, the next memory is blank, prompting confusion from Black Swan as she comments that should not be possible given the invitation came into Acheron's possession and was brought to Penacony by her, wondering how someone was able to erase it. A voice from the memory then asks Black Swan who she is, causing confusion and suspicion from Black Swan as she recognizes that the voice is not a memory. The voice realizes that Black Swan is a Memokeeper, introducing herself as Constance of The Annihilation Gang. She tells Black Swan that she has the answer to what Black Swan is looking for, Acheron's secret, and she can give it to her what she wants, prompting the phone in Acheron's room to begin ringing.
When The Sacred Ginmill Closes[]
As Black Swan picks up the ringing phone, she is greeted by Boothill's voice. Assuming he is speaking to Acheron, Boothill sarcastically remarks that it has been a while since they last saw each other and asks Acheron if she is having fun on Penacony. Black Swan is visibly confused, wondering if the person she is speaking to is Constance's companion. Boothill then continues speaking, angrily remarking he does not know what Acheron is planning but that his bullets will find her, telling her she should reserve a good quality coffin for an imposter such as herself.
Beginning to realize the situation, Black Swan internally comments that it seems Constance gave her whereabouts to Boothill, as he is also looking into Acheron. She then asks Boothill who he is, prompting confusion from him as he returns the question, asking her who she is. Black Swan tells Boothill that she is a Memokeeper, causing him to threaten Black Swan and ask her if she is "that impostor's" bodyguard, to which Black Swan does not deny the statement and instead changes the subject, asking him if he aware of how Acheron became a Galaxy Ranger.
When Boothill does not respond, Black Swan then remarks that Acheron is clearly not a Galaxy Ranger, asking him who Acheron is. Boothill laughs and remarks that he never expected this would happen, and that he will be on Penacony soon, asking Black Swan to buy him wine. He pauses before stating that no one knows anything about Acheron's past, but if Black Swan wants a simple answer, he can tell her, revealing that Acheron is an indeed Emanator of Nihility, who in his eyes, should not exist.
Bullet & Brain[]
After receiving Black Swan's message, Boothill and Dan Heng make their way to the Astral Express, upon which Pom-Pom reveals that two guests just boarded looking for them, namely Acheron and Black Swan. As Dan Heng questions what Pom-Pom means by two guests, Black Swan appears, apologizing for the intrusion, but states that given Penacony's current situation they are the only ones she and Acheron can truly trust. Dan Heng asks Black Swan if she is the Memokeeper, to which she says it is nice to meet them both, introducing herself as the Memokeeper from The Garden Of Recollection, Black Swan. Black Swan then states that in regards to Acheron and her story, Acheron herself would be able to explain it better, as Acheron then promptly enters the Express, introducing herself as Acheron. Boothill freaks out, accusing Black Swan of betraying him, before Acheron interrupts and states that Black Swan did that at her request. Acheron goes on to say that she was exiled by The Family from Penacony, upon which Black Swan rescued her and accompanied her safely out of Penacony. Black Swan remarks that it was more like stalking, and it was not a smooth process, but they nonetheless managed to escape Penacony together.
Acheron then remarks that she asked Black Swan to guide her to a safe place and contact trustworthy individuals such as them, prompting Boothill to become extremely angry, pulling out his gun and threatening to shoot Acheron in the head. Acheron ignores Boothill's outburst and calmly remarks it does not have to be that way, as she is fine with answering any questions when they have time later, but right now there are no other options. Acheron then requests that in order to ensure everyone's safety, the Express makes a warp jump out of Asdana, prompting Black Swan to state that in her opinion Acheron is not a malicious threat and is speaking the truth. Acheron remarks to Dan Heng that his companions are safe, but everyone needs their help, and then tells Boothill that she needs his help, and this was the only way she was able to contact a Galaxy Ranger, as she wants to fulfill a longstanding promise of returning Tiernan's relics.
Everything That Rises Must Converge[]
Black Swan then asks Dan Heng if he has ever heard of a planet influenced by the Harmony called Byari Skamandros, on which half an Amber Era ago The Family held a festival and inducted everyone there into The Family. When Dan Heng questions if that is Black Swan believes will happen on Penacony, she states that it is the only explanation as to why the Family banished Acheron yet let the Pathstriders stay there. Acheron comments that maybe the reason to her being banished could be the fact that due to being affected by Nihility, it is rare for other Paths to affect her, and in fact she can unconsciously infiltrate other Paths.
Dan Heng then interrupts, stating he disagrees with Acheron, as Penacony is a much bigger and influential planet, and there is no reason for The Family to want to essentially declare war on other factions in the Cosmos. Acheron comments that they would have no reason to do that only if they truly followed the Harmony, going on to say that Penacony's Harmony is impure. Black Swan adds that the well known Swarm Disaster that happened a long time ago evolved into a fierce battle between Aeons, which ultimately ended in both Tayzzyronth and Ena's demise, stating that both of their downfalls are related to one Aeon. Acheron agrees, stating that Xipe was the one who absorbed both Tayzzyronth and Ena, prompting Boothill to question if both Tayzzyronth and Ena are behind everything in Penacony. Dan Heng comments that there are no Propagation descendants in Penacony, inquiring if the situation is then related to Ena, to which Acheron remarks that she is not fully sure, yet she firmly believes that they are planning something at The Charmony Festival. Boothill asks Acheron if she is giving up and this is why she wants them to leave Penacony, to which Acheron states that there is something she needs to do confirm before The Charmony Festival begins which can best be done away from Penacony. However, Dan Heng then tells everyone that he has another plan, namely using the Jade Abacus to seek assistance from The Luofu.
And On The Eighth Day[]
Having awoken from Ena's Dream with the help of Black Swan, the main character exists the room and finds Acheron and Black Swan waiting for them. Acheron expresses relief, telling Black Swan she can not thank her enough, to which Black Swan also expresses relief. Acheron remarks that she is sure the main character must be confused, and she and Black Swan will do their best to provide them with information about the situation, however they must know that where they are currently is a place in between the dream and reality, where only those who have awoken from Ena's Dream are. Black Swan asks the main character if they remember Sunday's plan to harness the Stellaron's power and use the will of over 100,000 Oak Family members to overthrow Harmony and restore Order. Acheron adds on that his plan had more to it, as ever since everyone entered Penacony they were affected by the Stellaron, and that she believes the goal of the Order was to use the Stellaron to allow the Dreamscape to merge with reality through the leaked memoria. Acheron goes on to say that lots of that memoria was influenced by the Order, and as time has gone by dreams have become indistinguishable from reality, with no one being aware they are asleep the entire time.
Black Swan then comments that is why Ena's dream is so scarily powerful, as in this Order paradise everyone is living happily, stating that she nonetheless believes everything the main character experienced in the dream was real, and that was how they moved forward to reach their next destination, and if not for Acheron's advance plan, they may have been stuck in the dream forever. Acheron agrees, remarking that despite its control, the Order is not able to influence Nihility, prompting Black Swan to add that was why traveling with Acheron brought a peculiar sense, however despite being a Memokeeper she was not as fortune as Acheron and still fell pray to the Order's illusions, but they now have a chance to fix things. Acheron states that due to the flaw in their dream, the main character was made aware they were in a dream and was able to break free, to which Black Swan adds on that that flaw is Misha, who should not have appeared in reality, with that memory of Misha being what caused her to awaken from the dream. Acheron states that Sunday has successfully usurped the Harmonious Choir's power and the entirety of Asdana is now in Ena's dream, but states that failure does not mean weakness, and only the strong can gather the will to resist the Order and break free. Acheron states that they still have a chance at hope, but in order to put that hope into reality, they need Black Swan, asking her to guide them to those strong willed people. Black Swan agrees, asking Acheron and the main character to follow her.
Upon arriving in The Dreamscape Reverie, Robin greets the three of them, prompting Acheron to introduce Robin to the main character. Robin remarks that she too woke up from Ena's dream due to experiencing an anomaly, stating that this is their final chance to defeat the Harmonious Choir, stating that in order to destroy it they must make everyone want to wake up. Black Swan inquires how they do that, given human beings subconsciously resist the harsh reality out of a want for sweet illusions, and she was only able to wake up the main character by selecting a moment when they were off guard, yet everyone in Penacony would need to share the same determination to achieve that. Acheron agrees, stating that that is almost as impossible as resurrecting an Aeon.
The four are then interrupted by Dan Heng and Boothill making their way towards them, remarking that this is a critical moment in which they can not do nothing. Black Swan remarks that they are awake, and their partners should be too due to the assistance of other Memokeepers in Penacony, to which Acheron states this is the first bit of their plan, and those who also possess a strong will will be able to awaken from Ena's Dream. Dan Heng remarks in order to wake all of the millions of people immersed in the dream they need another method, prompting Acheron to state that they can instead seek assistance from the outside, as at this moment everyone in the Asdana system is inside one collective dream. Dan Heng inquires if this means that a large number of outsiders would be able to shake the dream, to which Black Swan states that those outsiders could instead succumb to the dream and end up becoming its foundation, not to mention they would be unlikely to find a large number of outsiders in such a short time.
Dan Heng begins to suggest using the Jade Abacus, however Boothill interrupts, stating that there is no need, as he can simply summon the Galaxy Rangers, revealing the relic that Acheron gave him and stating that it is a burial artifact which can be used to alert all Galaxy Rangers a hero has fallen. Motivated, Boothill states that he will be the one to ignite the first spark, prompting Robin to state she will perform the second step, fine-tuning the slumbering souls with Harmony and guiding them to reality, as despite the fact some are born strong whilst others are born weak, the Harmony will guarantee the citizens of Penacony can help themselves and their world, as Ena's dream is too cruel. Black Swan comments that Robin's plan is well thought out, but seems idealistic and it is hard to believe that those efforts will be enough to convince everyone. Acheron agrees with Black Swan, stating that that is why the most important part of the plan is not convincing everyone to choose the right path but instead inspiring them to save themselves. Black Swan smiles at Acheron, commenting it is all up to her to be the key now, to which Acheron states that as The Harmonious Choir has the influence of an Emanator, only another Emanator can combat it, therefore destroying the beautiful dream is up to her, to which Black Swan smiles gently once more, stating she is really relieved and reassured to hear her say that. With the plan finalized, Dan Heng and Boothill and Robin and Black Swan take their leaves, leaving the main character alone with Acheron.
Boundless Choreo[]
The lightcone "Boundless Choreo" features the interaction between Acheron and Black Swan from "Rondo Across Countless Kalpas" in a slightly different wording. As the two take light and graceful dance steps, Black Swan takes Acheron's hand and smiles as she gazes into her forlorn eyes. Black Swan welcomes her to Remembrance's stage, calling her a "Beautiful Ranger", and remarking that from this distance Acheron is even more attractive. Their surroundings begin to grow darker as a beam of light pours down, following their dance steps. Black Swan remarks that there were people who were meant to be dancing with them, but never arrived. As Black Swan spins, she moves closer to Acheron's face, clasping Acheron's hands and softly asking her if she can tell her what she has done.
The mood changes once more, their dance steps becoming faster as broken fragments of Acheron's past flow into Black Swan's mind. In Acheron's past, she hears the sounds of rain and the laments of souls as their lives were lost. She then sees her dance partner, Acheron, standing before her, holding an umbrella in the rain, and far as Black Swan could see, a river filled with endless bodies of the drowned surrounding them. Black Swan panics and falls backwards, attempting to withdraw her hand, that action prompting her to return to the present. Unaware of what just happened, Acheron gently holds her waist, remarking that the dance was beautiful and asking if Black Swan wants to dance again to another song.
Myriad Celestia Trailer - A Revisiting Of Past Dreams[]
Acheron makes a very minor minor appearance in Black Swan's Teaser, however her role is nonetheless significant. A man is looking for the owner of a makeup mirror, so Black Swan offers to divine the answer for him, using his memories as a medium. As she is traveling through his memories, a loud noise can suddenly be heard, alarming the citizens who begin to run in panic. Black Swan quickly turns her head in curiosity about the noise, and her gaze meets Acheron who is just staring ahead, not moving at all despite all the citizens around her all running. Black Swan frowns deeply as she too gazes ahead, clutching the card in her hand, and reflects that the truth and memories do not lie. As she takes a step forward the entire screen shatters, splitting into many fragments which feature each of the VIP Guests' faces, with Black Swan's fragment being right in the middle, and Acheron's being on the right hand side, and one of the largest.
Black Swan then returns to the present, having found the answer that the makeup mirror belonged to Robin, and the man goes to return it to her. Black Swan opens up the deck of cards she was holding (featuring the images of Sparkle, Acheron, Aventurine, Firefly, Duke Inferno and Robin respectively) and runs her fingers along all of them. However, when she touches Duke Inferno's card, a purple fire appears on the card and it vanishes, surprising Black Swan who frowns in suspicion. Black Swan remarks that that menacing infernal fire had been absorbed by the vast sea, a sea that now dwells on the Planet Of Festivities, implying that she had been made aware Acheron killed Duke Inferno.
Animated Short: Rondo Across Countless Kalpas[]
The Animated Short reveals what happened when the two met for the first time, and shared their dance together. It begins with a narration of Black Swan remarking that The Remembrance is no different from the sea, as both should not be gazed upon when the night is starless, and then showing Black Swan approaching Acheron sitting alone at a table with a drink, and asking her if she is waiting for anyone, to which Acheron shakes her head. Black Swan smiles and asks if she wants to dance with her, holding out her hand for Acheron. Acheron hesitates, but nonetheless accepts and takes Black Swan's hand. The two slowly begin walking backwards on the dance floor as they begin to dance with one another.
They begin gracefully moving across the dance floor as Black Swan narrates that she has been watching Acheron for quite some time, and tonight was the first initiation. She runs her hands up Acheron's arms, stating that she is just as mysterious as the rumors stated, as well as is noble and reserved. Black Swan then comments that The Ranger is not the only one hunting in this nocturnal Hunt, placing a hand around Acheron's waist and touching her face gently with the other. They spin gracefully and Black Swan dips Acheron into a dip, prompting her to tell Acheron that when she is able to look at her from this distance, she is even more enchanting and attractive. As she bends down to kiss Acheron's hand, she narrates that it is without a doubt Acheron is after The Watchmaker's Legacy, and that whilst everyone in Penacony lies, memories do not. The intensity and passion of their dance speeds up, and as the two draw extremely close, Black Swan laughs and remarks that it keeps on getting more exciting. She states that everyone has a past that shapes the present, and whilst some people choose to keep their memories, others are unable to escape them. The two perform an elegant move, pressing against one another with their faces extremely close, and as Black Swan dips Acheron once more, she muses that she wants to know who Acheron is, and what category she falls under. The intensity of their dance speeds up once more as they begin twirling and maneuvering gracefully in a circle, Black Swan says that many people were invited to The Feast, including The Annihilation Gang who should have been present.
The atmosphere changes slightly as Black Swan stares intensely at Acheron, stating to her that Duke Inferno is unable to attend The Feast, as he is dead, and asks Acheron what she did, calling her a "beautiful Ranger". Acheron does not respond, so Black Swan then enters Acheron's memory, witnessing Emanator Acheron in the moment she murdered Duke Inferno. The memory Emanator Acheron then turns to stare at Black Swan, asking her if she was talking to her, prompting a horrified expression from Black Swan as she then enters Emanator Acheron's memories.
The scene then suddenly changes, revealing the two in an unknown location, presumably Emanator Acheron's mind. As Black Swan reads Emanator Acheron's memories, Emanator Acheron seemingly begins "attacking" Black Swan, grabbing and pulling her roughly, ripping "feathers" off her with her touches, symbolizing how Emanator Acheron's memories are too much for Black Swan to handle, and those memories are "attacking" her mind. All the while, two large "shadows" reflect the "battle" between them, with Black Swan's "shadow" being a swan and Emanator Acheron's being a serpent. Black Swan begins changing from multiple swans back to herself, whilst Emanator Acheron begins "dancing" with her, pulling her left and right, whilst the "shadows" show the swan getting brutally attacked over and over again by the serpent. The serpent then murders the swan, with Black Swan turning into multiple swans once more and a huge swan skeleton being shown on screen.
The scene once more changes, featuring multiple shots of different predatory animals hunting their prey, followed by large quantity of feathers engulfing the screen, and then flashing to a shot of IX, The Void, solidifying Acheron's status as an Emanator of Nihility, a Self Annihilator. Black Swan appears once more, panicking as she falls downwards into the depths of Nihility in Acheron's mind, before disintegrating into feathers, and promptly returning to the present. She finds Acheron holding her in a dip as she gazes up at her, panting hard from the experience. Acheron gazes down at her, completely unaware of what just transpired, and stoically asks who The Annihilation Gang are.
With their dance finished, Acheron leaves and begins walking on the streets of Penacony, with Black Swan still narrating, repeating what she said at the beginning about having been watching Acheron for quite some time, however this will be their last engagement. Black Swan solemnly states she made a mistake, and that Acheron was no Galaxy Ranger at all, with her past being a silent abyss filled with the bodies of those who drowned in it.
Keeping Up With Star Rail[]
For Acheron's Keeping Up With Star Rail, Black Swan was invited to be the co-host alongside Owlbert. Owlbert begins the episode by informing the audience that they have just received a wanted notice from the IPC for Acheron, and if anyone has any information about her, they should please contact the IPC. He describes her characteristics and reveals she is behind the assassination of several wanted criminals, such as Duke Inferno.
The episode then properly begins, with Owlbert revealing an "expert fortune teller guest", namely Black Swan, had been invited to help explore the rumors surrounding Acheron. Owlbert remarks that due to Acheron keeping such a low profile, the IPC has no leads on what is true or false about her, asking Black Swan for her advice. However, Black Swan simply states that whilst stories can lie, memories do not. Owlbert then takes the precious memory bubble of Acheron that Black Swan provided, and begins launching into a description about Acheron's gameplay and mechanics.
As Owlbert remarks how Acheron's ultimate is able to cast everything into a sea of black and white raindrops whilst her enemies are swallowed by the black hole, Black Swan comments that of all the countless memories she has read, Acheron's are the only ones that are colorless. Owlbert then returns to describing Acheron's ultimate, stating how it is able to deal Lightning damage to her enemies when her blade is sheathed, to which Black Swan says even karma can be cut by her blade. Owlbert remarks that Acheron is one of a kind, wondering what her secret is, prompting Black Swan to tell him to simply keep watching.
Owlbert comments that Acheron gains one stack of Slashed Dream when any enemy receives debuffs, even if those debuffs come from another enemy, prompting Black Swan to remark all tools are available to be used by Acheron, even the enemy's. Owlbert then states that if Acheron wants to maximize her damage, she would need allies who can inflict debuffs, and Black Swan agrees, then remarking that Acheron's feelings of love and hate are clear, but she is nonetheless very gentle and treats people kindly. Owlbert muses that he feels that Acheron has her own unique rules for doing things, asking Black Swan what kind of person she is, but she simply tells him that that is up to him to interpret. Acheron then promptly finishes off the enemies, with Owlbert remarking that Acheron completely vanquished the enemy from existence, causing Black Swan to agree, stating that it is like they never existed to begin with. Owlbert then states that they both were able to understand and learn a lot about Acheron today, and the episode shortly comes to a close.

Fanon[]
AcherSwan was originally considered a very rare pairing in the fandom, with a tiny amount of shippers. When the Penacony cast were first leaked, the fandom quickly took interest in Acherobin, as they found Robin's appearance was similar to that of Kiana Kaslana. Fans found Robin to be a shippable character, and took an interest in SwanRobin as well, leading AcherSwan to be neglected in favor of their respective ships with Robin. However, after Penacony's release, SwanRobin's popularity decreased significantly in favor of AcherSwan.
The original lack of supporters mainly stemmed from the fact that Penacony was still an unreleased planet, and little was known about any of the characters and their relationships with one another, thus ships were made based on whims. However, they still received some small amounts of fanart, and had a few avid shippers, mainly fueled by the story leaks of the two together, or simply the fact that they looked good together.
After Honkai: Star Rail officially released the teaser "Sweet Dreams Preview - The Great Tatalov", AcherSwan began to gain a slightly bigger following. The scene of the two together with the main character lead fans to consider the two to have potential with one another, wondering what their relationship with one another was. A few fans began to speculate that Black Swan may be this universe's version of Kiana Kaslana/Yae Miko to Acheron relationship wise, furthered by the fact she seemed to bear a similar personality to Yae Miko.
Once Penacony was officially released, the two gained a more significant popularity. Players were quick to comment on Acheron's dialogue about dancing with Black Swan, and the implications that Black Swan's "dream dance partner" was Acheron, finding that to have some interesting undertones and very ship worthy. The two's dynamic with one another when they were traveling together with the main character was also well appreciated as fans liked their roles both to one another and to the main character. A couple of shippers even joked "I know what you are" about Acheron's dialogue about dancing with Black Swan, or that the main character was just "third wheeling" with AcherSwan for the entirety of the missions, or that the main character was like AcherSwan's child.
A bit after Penacony's release, quite a few people began comparing AcherSwan to EiMiko. Due to Acheron's status as Raiden Mei in the Honkai: Star Rail universe, and Black Swan being shown to have a similar disposition to Yae Miko, fans found it easy to draw the connection. Some Honkai Impact 3rd fans prefer to compare them to Kiamei or Elymei instead, due to Black Swan being the person that Acheron has the closest relationship with, and how Penacony and the Elysian Realm share the same writer, who happens to ship Elymei[1]. Some other fans compare them to Meiponia, as Acheron is Raiden Mei and Black Swan is commonly believed to be an expy of Aponia, and again the Elysian Realm and Penacony share the same writer.
In the version 2.1 livestream, the teaser for the Animated Short "Rondo Across Countless Kalpas" was revealed, featuring a clip of the intimate dance between Acheron and Black Swan. Said teaser prompted AcherSwan to gain a large influx of new popularity, with one well known user's Twitter post of the dance scene ranking up over 30,000 likes within the first few hours. Fans in both the Western and Eastern fandoms immediately went on social media to post about the dance, with many Western fans stating it was "the gayest thing Hoyoverse had ever done" or AcherSwan was now "semi-canon/canon", whilst the Eastern fandom made remarks along the lines of being shocked that it happened, or that it was "a bit naughty", whilst veteran shippers were so happy they could cry. Both fandoms remarked about the level of intimacy and how close they came to kissing three times, with Black Swan even kissing Acheron's hand. Whilst some Westerners simply labeled the dance as "yuri bait" or stated that "two woman dancing together was not gay", the dance was mostly extremely well received by both fandoms, and all fans were incredibly eager to see the short. In fact, Western fans were posting about "Acheron x Black Swan yuri" so much that it caused "yuri" to begin trending on Twitter. Both artists and writers alike were inspired by the dance, and AcherSwan gained 100+ new artworks and under 5 new AO3 fanfictions in less than 12 hours after the livestream finished.
After the Animated Short "Rondo Across Countless Kalpas" was officially released, AcherSwan's popularity once peaked, this time more significantly, and led them to remain one of the most popular ships in the fandom. Both fandoms were extremely shocked by the level of intimacy and ship tease featured in it, and greatly appreciated the "horror" dynamic shown in the second half. Quite a few people in the Western fandom even made jokes about how the Animated Short was so suggestive that HoYoverse "completely destroyed Chinese censorship". However, the reactions to the Animated Short were not entirely positive, as a few people in the Western fandom began criticizing AcherSwan and the shippers, stating that it was "abusive and toxic" because "Acheron attacked Black Swan and traumatized her", despite the fact it was intended to be symbolizm of how Emanator Acheron's memories were mentally "attacking" Black Swan. However, many people in both fandoms appreciated the dynamic shown in the Animated Short, and leaned into the idea of Acheron taking on the dominant role in the relationship, or liking the "toxic yuri appeal". Artists and writers were once more inspired, and AcherSwan quickly gained hundreds of new artworks and under 10 AO3 fanfictions within the first day of the trailer's release.
AcherSwan are sometimes shipped alongside Ratiorine, due to AcherSwan being the most popular Penacony femslash ship and Ratiorine being the most popular Penacony slash ship, as well as both ships overall popularity in the fandom. The four have a bit of art together, and Acheron and Black Swan both sometimes make cameos in Ratiorine fanfictions, either as individual characters or as a couple, and overall the four characters are often written together. However, Ratiorine is typically shipped alongside Topajade instead.
Due to being both Acheron and Black Swan's most popular ship, AcherSwan is mostly rivaled by ships such as Acherobin, Stelleron, SparkleSwan and SwanRobin. Some individuals who like both AcherSwan and Acherobin and prefer not to choose between the two ships like to ship AcherSwan together with Robin in a poly ship, Acherobinswan.
Currently, AcherSwan have 245+ works on AO3.

Trivia[]
- In "The Knocking at Ungodly Hours" you are given the choice to interact with a shadow of the dreamscape which shows part of a scene from "Masquerade Duet", featuring Black Swan apologizing to Sparkle that she has already picked out her dream dance partner. Given both of their "added to team" voicelines about one another reference the dance Acheron stated they had at their first meeting, as well as "Rondo Across Countless Kalpas" showing the entirety of the dance, it can be assumed that the dance partner she was talking about is highly likely to be Acheron.
- In Part IV of Black Swan's lore, she describes a vague memory from Acheron as faint, chaotic, and disorienting, akin to a cold downpour of rain with no end in sight, and states that she yearns to know the future it points to.[2]
- On Black Swan's Character Introduction, Acheron's Note says "Memokeepers have many ways to weave the past, but we still need to walk forward."[3]
- On Acheron's Character Introduction, Black Swan's Note says "Compared to how it was in your past, the rain of our current times... is indeed peaceful and quiet enough."[4]
- Acheron's Special Reveal states that Black Swan often encounters Acheron at places that offer drinks other than SoulGlad, and the two spend time together whilst enjoying a drink, with Acheron always ordering the drink "Like Awakening From A Dream".[5]
- In the Chinese version 2.2 livestream, the lightcone "Boundless Choreo" was shown, to which Aventurine's CN VA inquired that Acheron and Black Swan's clothes there seemed to be different from their previous dance, to which Black Swan's CN VA remarked that perhaps because the first time dancing was such a very good experience, another invitation was proposed, prompting excitement from the other three VA's.[6]
- After Acheron and Black Swan officially become friends, in English exclusively they stop referring to one another as "Miss".
- In the "Lady Bonajade Handbook" web event, one of the customers is Black Swan, who wishes to sell a lipstick to the main character that she intended to give to someone she was destined to be with at a ball, but was not able to. Based on the wording, and the fact Acheron and Black Swan danced together at a ball that had an unfortunate ending, it can be assumed the person she wanted to give it to was Acheron.
- Information in game reveals that not every memory can form a lightcone when refined by a Memokeeper, only an individual's memories that can be classified as "important" or even "precious" can. It is possible for almost every lightcone to tell who the memory belongs to by referencing the Path of the lightcone with the playable Path of the character it appears to. Therefore based on these facts it can be assumed that the lightcone "Boundless Choreo" that Acheron and Black Swan appear together in is an important or precious memory for Acheron, due to "Boundless Choreo" being for characters following the Path of The Nihility like Acheron, as well as it being the F2P lightcone that was made specifically for Acheron.
- The Aeons Acheron and Black Swan are Emanators of, IX and Fuli respectively, represent "Nothingness" and "Memory", making the Paths Acheron and Black Swan follow to be complete opposites of one another and exist to counter one another.
- The two are both playable Nihility characters, with Acheron being Lightning and Black Swan being Wind.
- In Chinese, Korean and English respectively, Acheron and Black Swan refer to each other with a polite term that is roughly equivalent to "miss", with Acheron calling Black Swan "黑天鹅小姐" (Hēitiān'é-xiǎojiě), "블랙 스완 씨" (Beullaeg Seuwan-ssi), and "Miss Black Swan", whilst Black Swan calls Acheron "黄泉小姐" (Huángquán-xiǎojiě), "아케론 씨" (Akelon-ssi), and "Miss Acheron". However, it differs in Japanese, as only Black Swan refers to Acheron with the polite term "さん" (san), calling her "黄泉さん" (Yomi-san), whilst Acheron simply calls Black Swan by her name, "ブラックスワン" (Burakku Suwan).
- The lack of polite honorific in Japanese is due to the fact that both Acheron and Black Swan speak the informal dialect, where it is not custom to call everyone "さん" like it is in the formal dialect. However, Black Swan nonetheless chooses to refer to everyone as "さん", whilst Acheron simply refers to everyone as just their name.
- Acheron and Black Swan share the same CN VA's with Honkai Impact 3rd characters Raiden Mei and Aponia respectively.
- Black Swan's EN VA, Arryn Zech, posted a clip of Acheron and Black Swan's dance from "Rondo Across Countless Kalpas" on her Instagram, stating in the caption that the Animated Short was "pretty...wild...😈".[7]
- Acheron's EN VA, Allegra Clark, expressed that as a queer woman, she enjoyed Acheron and Black Swan's dance scene in "Rondo Across Countless Kalpas".[8]
- Acheron's EN VA, Allegra Clark, has expressed on multiple occasions that she ships AcherSwan.
- Additionally, majority of the EN cast have express their support of AcherSwan, or even outright stated they ship them.
- The official English Honkai: Star Rail TikTok account dueted a fanmade AcherSwan edit of their dance together, with a romantic song used as the sound.[9]
- Hoyoverse sponsored an animation called A day with Firefly" starring CaeFly, with Acheron and Black Swan kissing and copulating in the background. While this was likely added as a joke by the animator, it also sparked further debate regarding the pairing's canonicity as the animation was officially sponsored by Hoyoverse themselves[10].
- Acheron and Black Swan's JP VA's, Sawashiro Miyuki and Nabatame Hitomi, have worked together a total of 27 times currently.
