AdYor is the femslash ship between Ada Wong and Yor Forger from the Resident Evil and Spy x Family fandoms.
Canon[]
The two are from different series, so they have never met.
In their respective canons, both are trained killers. Yor is an assassin, while Ada is a spy. In the canon of Spy x Family, Yor is in a fake marriage to a spy. This means that it makes sense for her to have a relationship with someone like Ada.
Ada and Yor also have similar physical appearances, with both having dark hair and being known to wear red sweaters.
Fanon[]
AdYor is a fairly popular and beloved crackship popularized by artist Kuki on both their Twitter and Tumblr accounts who has drawn an abundance of art for the ship. In fact, they have drawn so much fanart for AdYor, there was a Mandela effect of people believing that AdYor had a huge fanbase with multiple fanartists creating lots of works for it.[1] After attention was brought to this, other fanartists began to actually contribute and make additional fanarts for AdYor. There are now even fanfictions and couple cosplays of the pairing. Kuki now also gets commissioned to draw more AdYor.
The first appearance of a AdYor artwork appeared on their Tumblr in early January 2024, where according to the post’s tags, the main appeal of the pairing comes from Ada and Yor both being independent and incredibly self-sufficient people who came from harsh environments. In this early post, Kuki finds interest in the pair’s potential early dynamic, wanting them to become more vulnerable and be able to rely on each other after meeting. In many of the fanarts by Kuki, AdYor is portrayed as alluring and formidable, with a mix of art ranging from yearning to domestic fluff. Ada is often portrayed as charming and charismatic, and Yor is drawn to be very strong and doting. For fun, a manip of the ship was even made and posted on Tumblr.
The ship stayed in relative obscurity in early 2024 until a crossposted fanart on Twitter blew up, attracting lots of attention to it mostly because of how well the ship is drawn. Although surprised to see the existence of this ship, many users are super supportive of the artist’s enthusiasm for the ship. Fans embrace how unexpected the ship is, stating how somehow it works. AdYor is considered the yuri ship that people didn’t know they needed.
There are currently 3 works for this pairing on AO3. It is much more popular as a source of fan art than a source of fanfiction.
