AdaShima is the femslash ship between Sakura Adachi and Hougetsu Shimamura from the Adachi and Shimamura fandom.

Adachi and Shimamura meet in the first episode while skipping class. Adachi feels as though classes have no meaning, so they decide to go grab some donuts and to walk around the city. As they were walking, Shimamura grabbed hold of Adachi's hand, which made her flustered, making her heart beat faster. At that exact moment, a little astronaut-looking creature appears in front of them. This turns out to be Yashiro. Adachi and Shimamura are not normal humans, they are special existences and need to be together to bring balance to the universe that is why they are reincarnations from previous lives. Yashiro's mission is to ensure that "balance" is always there.
When Adachi comes back to her house, she lies on bed and starts having a very romantic dream, where Shimamura ends up giving her a kiss. She suddenly wakes up in a shock, denying her feelings for Shimamura, feeling conflicted by them. After this incident, Adachi crosses paths with Shimamura once more when she sees her at her work, in the restaurant. Upon seeing her in her work uniform, Shimamura stares at her dreamily. The next day, Adachi shyly asks Shimamura if she can go to her house. The two of them spend the whole afternoon together, as they get closer. Adachi sits in between Shimamura's legs, albeit platonically. And starts imagining herself confessing her feelings to Shimamura. When she gets scared of this vision, she runs away, crying, leaving a very confused Shimamura behind.
Shimamura then decides to go look for her to see if she's alright. When Adachi opens up her house's front door, she pretends to be just fine, acting cute, so Shimamura simply takes a picture of her. Then, in the spur of the moment, Adachi invites Shimamura to a date. So the day of their date at the mall, Shimamura comes, but accompanied by Yashiro, the little astronaut. So Adachi gets jealous of her and tries to impress Shimamura in all ways she can, while they play bowling.
After this failed date for Adachi, she still doesn't lose hope on spending some time alone with Shimamura, because the holidays are coming and she wants to invite her to spend them together. So, very flustered and nervous, Adachi asks Shimamura if she would like to spend Christmas Day with her, blushing uncontrollably. Shimamura happily accepts her offer, and as the day approaches, Adachi starts investigating about all that she likes so she can give her the perfect gift on that day. Finally, Adachi finds out that Shimamura likes tea, so she goes to buy her that. And days prior to their date, she can't stop thinking about her feelings for Shimamura, not fully understanding them still.
The day of their date, Adachi wears the dress (her work uniform) that she was wearing the day Shimamura was staring at her in the restaurant. She tells Shimamura that since she thought she looked beautiful in that dress, she should wear it to their date today. So, after their date, Adachi thinks she's finally prepared to confess her feelings for Shimamura, and when they go to a fountain, just the two of them, she grabs Shimamura's hands, but can't confess yet, so she just tells her she's happy to have her as a friend.
This keeps happening, with Adachi fiercely wanting to confess, but not being able to, while still battling with her feelings for Shimamura. She tries to confess one more on New Year's Eve, on Valentine's Day, and later on after the school break, but she can't do it each time, instead just holding Shimamura in her arms for long periods of time. Later, Adachi's work and Shimamura's new group of friends keep them apart for a while.
Until one day, Adachi asks Shimamura if she can spend some days at her house. So when that day comes, Adachi arrives very early while Shimamura is still sleeping, and starts settling in. The first days together are pretty normal, but some days later, Shimamura gives her a flower hair pin that matches her own. This makes Adachi extremely happy, so she asks Shimamura if they can sleep together that night. Shimamura happily agrees and the two of them cuddle next to one another.
Light Novels[]
In the visual novels, Adachi and Shimamura's relationship is fully developed, because they are way more advanced than the anime and already finished. The both of them end up together in the 6th novel. They also have a love rival between them, Tarumi, who is Shimamura's childhood friend. She does become a bit of an obstacle for their relationship after Adachi "catches" her and Shimamura going to a fireworks festival. Tarumi also later confesses her feelings to Shimamura when she hears about Adachi and Shimamura dating. But Shimamura is deeply in love with Adachi, and has no feelings for Tarumi, so nothing comes between them.
Fanon[]
AdaShima is the most popular ship within the Adachi and Shimamura fandom. This is due to the fact that the whole series revolves around their relationship. Most fans started shipping them as soon as the series started for this very same reason. However, some anime-only fans were very frustrated at first with Shimamura for being "oblivious" to Adachi's feelings, although Adachi herself was also processing hers. But fans of the visuals novels that already know their relationship has been established love their "soulmates" love story.
