Agent24 is the non-binary ship between Agent 3 and Agent 8 from the Splatoon fandom.
Canon[]
The player chooses both Agent 8 and Agent’s 3’s gender. Both agents do not have many interactions, though they are both apart of the New Squidbeak Splatoon. Agent 8 is shown to comedically admire Agent 3, while they somewhat return the sentiment.
Before the start of the Octo Expansion story line, Agent 3 and Cap'n Cuttlefish continued to explore Octo Valley when they ended up in battle against a young Octoling. Agent 8 was an Octoling in Octarian society and was free of their brainwashing when they heard the Calamari Inkantation during the final battle of Splatoon, etching it into their soul. According to Marina, the Octolings who listen to the song become unhappy with Octarian society and choose to start their own business. In Octo Valley, Agent 8 met Cap'n Cuttlefish and Agent 3, where Cuttlefish had Agent 3 attack Agent 8. The two fought until all three were attacked by someone and were slammed into the Deepsea subway. Agent 8 lost their memory from injuries sustained during the fall from the ceiling and became a test subject of the subway. Cuttlefish named the Octoling “Agent 8” and teamed up to collect the four thangs and escape from Deepsea Metro.
Once Agent 8 collected three of the thangs, Cap'n Cuttlefish made a "disappeared" poster for Agent 3, which allows the player to determine the gender, skin color, and eyes of Agent 3.
After Agent 8 collected all four thangs, Commander Tartar put them in the shape of a blender, then tricking Agent 8 and Cuttlefish inside. Luckily, Marina used Agent 8's CQ-80 device to release a distress signal to which Agent 3 responded by jumping through the roof and destroying the blender. As a result, they were rendered unconscious, with Cuttlefish falling behind to take care of them while Agent 8 escaped through the hole created by Agent 3.

While Agent 8 was away, the Commander Tartar attacked Cuttlefish and Agent 3, partially disinfecting the agent to put them under brainwashing. Under the control of the phone, Agent 3 tied up Cuttlefish and later attacked Agent 8 before they could escape to the surface. After being defeated, sanitization disappeared, leaving them once again unconscious. They eventually woke up after Agent 8 and Off the Hook defeated the NILS statue, used by Telephone, as Commander Tartar, to destroy Inkopolis, now with a plaster on the back of their neck as the credits rolled.

Agent 3 and Agent 8 final credits.
When Agent 8 returned to the Deepsea subway, Cuttlefish explained that Agent 3 is back on patrol. After Agent 8 completed all the tests, a locker entered A00 The central station opened and they had a flashback of the first time they heard the Calamari Inkantation, causing a final battle against their "Inner Agent 3", in which the player receives a golden toothpick.
Fanon[]
Agent24 is one of the most popular ships in the fandom of Splatoon accompanying Pearlina very often and in the meantime remaining in rivalry with it popularly speaking. A possible explanation for its popularity is the need for ships, despite the two being non-binary, since the ship can be viewed as either het, femslash, or slash.
Although Agent 8 and Agent 3’s personalities are implicit and unestablished, seeing as they are both controlled by the player in separate games, fans have taken it upon themselves to create a set persona for both agents based on the canon information from the games. Since Agent 3 is depicted as a more stoic and uninterested character, fans interpret them as such, additionally using the idea that Agent 3 is more gruff and ruthless. On the other hand, Agent 8 seems more curious and childlike as they are poetic and deeply sympathetic. They are depicted as clingy or unintentionally affectionate towards Agent 3, also interpreted to be more kind-spoken and meditative compared to 3.
In fan fictions and art, they are both usually depicted as female, which is the most popular pairing for Agent24, as that is considered the more accurate version of the ship, since all agents are chosen female in official media.
However, Male 8 x Female 3 is considered the most canon pairing out of Agent24, since they were the pairing chosen for the Valentine’s official art, which plays into its popularity. The idea of Female Agent 3 as a tsundere towards an oblivious Male Agent 8 is also very common in fan comics or fan works.
A very common trope in fanfiction—used for mainly Male Agent 3 x Female Agent 8–is Agent 3 helping Agent 8 settle into Inkopolis after the events of the Octo Expansion. With this same pairing, fans also play into 8’s admiration by creating scenarios where 8 is a big fan of DJ Sango, 3’s alias.
The ship began to become popular in the Splatoon 2 DLC "Octo Expansion Pack", especially in the final mission "Inner Agent 3" explaining that Agent 3 and Agent 8 already knew each other at that time, and that they were already rivals. The ship has been made canonical through an official art, regardless of the player's choices regarding the gender of Agent 8 and Agent 3. On AO3 it is the most written ship for both, and has almost 1,000 works in the Agent 3/Agent 8 tag.
