I'm regretting how easily I confessed my love to you.
—Tomo to Ai, episode 12

AiTomo is the femslash ship between Ai and Tomo from the Fumikiri Jikan (Crossing Time) fandom.

Canon[]

In canon, Ai and Tomo are good friends, with attraction on Tomo's side. Ai is aware of this attraction, after Tomo indirectly confessed to her in the first episode. However, she is unsure of her feelings towards Tomo and wishes for some time to figure out how she wants to navigate her youth.

Episode 1 - Their Youth[]

In the first episode, Ai and Tomo are waiting at a railroad crossing together. Ai starts to complain about how the both of them should really start spending their youth, instead of just waiting for the railroad crossing fence to open. Ai declares to Tomo that they should find a chance in waiting at a railroad crossing to experience their youth. When Tomo asks what she means by "experiencing their youth", Ai mentions falling in love or getting her heart broken. After Tomo says there's only the two of them waiting, with no chance to experience love, Ai agrees, mentioning that there aren't any men and two women can't fall in love with each other. This upsets Tomo, making Ai feel awkward as she scrambled to make an excuse.

Ai apologizes, suggesting that they should scream the name of the person they like, since it's the only "youth-like" thing they could do. After Tomo says that the people they like would be able to hear them, Ai instead suggests they scream it when the train arrives, so nobody will hear. Though doubtfully, Tomo ends up agreeing to scream with Ai.

After the train passed and Tomo yelled out Ai's name, Tomo came to the realization that only she screamed. Ai guiltily admitted that she didn't scream, and that she just wanted to hear who Tomo liked so she could ask her about it. After Ai asked if Tomo really did scream her name, Tomo apologized before confessing she did like Ai as a love interest. Tomo went in deeper about how she always liked Ai, even if it was one-sided, before asking if Ai wanted to spend her youth with her. When Ai said she wasn't sure how to respond, Tomo told her to tell her when she figured it out, and keep coming with her to school as usual. Though Ai persisted that it would be awkward, Tomo explained that's just part of youth. The episode ends with Ai yelling out in protest and the railroad crossing opening.

Fanon[]

Fumikiri Jikan does not have much of a fandom presence online. There are no fanworks for this series on AO3, and therefore it is difficult to judge how popular the AiTomo ship truly is. The majority of the posts about the show on Tumblr are based around the relationship between Ai and Tomo.
