Akanatsumi is the femslash ship between Kaede Akamatsu and Natsumi Kuzuryu from the Danganronpa fandom.
Canon[]
Kaede and Natsumi have never interacted in the canon storyline. But due to their extremely similar looking appearance, fans theorize a possibly connection between both girls. In Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, it is mentioned that Kaede had a twin sister, but considering she was dead at that point, there was no way of knowing if this was true or false. This led many fans to believing it was either Miu Iruma or Natsumi herself. But it is easily debunked due to Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony being the 53rd game in the series, meaning Natsumi death, taking place in Despair Arc which is a prequel to the whole series, was way before anything in V3. This theory was also debunked when Natsumi was confirmed to be Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu’s younger sister.
Akanatsumi’s chemistry is mainly a result of their contrasting personalities. While Kaede is kind, upbeat, and selfless, Natsumi is described as violent, egotistical, and mean. Kaede makes a very good first impression on people as someone friendly and approachable, even to those who are not. She is also uncomfortable lying and has a firm stance against illegal activities as seen when she scolded Kaito Momota for cheating and Miu Iruma for wanting to use drugs. On the other hand, Natsumi often introduces herself by insulting her conversation partner and declaring her own sense of superiority. She also has no qualms with illegal activities, seeing as she regularly threatens people with lethal harm and is a member of the Yakuza. As a result, these two can be fit into a good girl/bad girl relationship archetype.
Despite their differences, Kaede and Natsumi have quite a few similarities that go beyond their appearances. Both have a bit of a childish demeanor, seen in how Natsumi declares herself the “Ultimate Little Sister” and Kaede indulges in silly and impulsive behaviors like poking people without permission. Both are also known to have firm attitudes and have resorted to violence when annoyed or angered.
Additionally, they each have moments where they are very bossy due to their strong ambition, and neither seems to feel remorse for it. Both girls are highly committed to their individual goals, even if they choose questionable means to go about reaching them. In pursuing their goals, they also share the ability to lead, seen when Kaede rallies her classmates as the protagonist and when Natsumi was offered the chance to take her brother’s place as the leader of the Kuzuryu Clan by earning the respect and admiration of the gang members.

Akanatsumi is extremely rare in the fandom as they never interacted and Natsumi considering to be a minor character. Their similar appearance is one of the only traits they actually share. Both are pale, have blonde hair around the same length, bangs parted on a certain side, thin, and have similar outfits. This ship easily gets overshadowed by their other popular ships such as, Saimatsu, Irumatsu, and Amamatsu for Kaede and Hinatsumi for Natsumi.
