Akitoyaemunene is the poly ship between Touya Aoyagi, Emu Ootori, Nene Kusanagi and Akito Shinonome from the Project SEKAI fandom.
Canon[]
In canon, Akito and Touya are singing partners, while Nene and Emu are the two female members of their troupe. This is why their most popular ships are Akitoya and Emunene, as they're partnerships, in a sort. Then we got the Event Close Game/Offline, which was an event featuring Nene, Emu, Akito, and Touya. Even though the characters didn't interact with each other too much in the event, the added area conversations have all four of the characters interacting with each other. It seems like in between the event and the side stories, the four got significantly closer together. In one instance, Emu spots Akito at the mall and approaches him. Akito notably says "I'm sorry for my friend." Another instance is Nene and Touya interacting on main street when Nene got lost looking for a new arcade.
There is a lot of interesting things to unpack about the four in the area convos. When Akito and Nene interact, Nene considers that Akito isn't as bad as she thought. This might mean that Nene and/or Akito are starting to get close. When Touya and Nene interact, they seem quite close and act like they've known each other for a long time (They're in the same class, so it was bound to happen.). When Nene and Emu interact, Emu usually ends up talking to Nene about ideas or places they went, often in the wonderlands Sekai.
When Akito and Emu interact, Emu acts like Akito is one of her friends from school, whereas Akito seemingly puts on the Tsundere approach. He isn't outright mean to her, but he is snarky, and does care about her at heart. Emu somehow ends up either ingoring the snarkyness or outright seeing through it and acts like she knows Akito cares about her. When Touya and Emu interact, Touya is the opposite of Akito. Instead of trying to push Emu away, he just manages whatever situation they get in with a clear and level head.
Fanon[]
Akitoyaemunene got more popularity after the close game/OFFLINE event. It's mostly seen as a platonic ship. When it is seen as romantic, it's normally seen as a double date between AkiToya and Emunene. Occasionally people ship all four together romantically, but the platonic form is more common.
