AlMax is the het ship between Albert Rothstein and Maxine Hunkel from the DC Comics and DC Extended Universe fandoms.

Black Adam

The team boards the Hawkjet. Albert says the ship is cool and asks Kent for snacks. Kent ignores him and walks away. Albert tells him that it takes a lot of energy to smash atoms. He places his stuff down in the main area of the jet, and Maxine tosses him a snack. He says thanks and introduces himself. She does so as well and he takes a bite of the snack. He asks what she does and she says she does wind. She asks the same of him and he says that he grows. Maxine calls him cool as the jet takes off.

Albert sees the Helmet of Fate and goes to touch it, when Maxine walks in and says that he shouldn't. He asks why not, and she says that the Helmet chooses who it lets touch it. He pulls away, and says that Kent is one of those people. Maxine agrees, and says that Kent is basically possessed whenever he puts the helmet on. Al asks what happens if he touches it and Maxine says soul crushing terror...or something. Al suggests that they put a towel on it, when Carter comes in and tells them their entering Kahndaq.

Maxine walks into the cockpit, where Al has changed, with her field suit. Al says that her suit is cool, and she thanks him, saying the same about his own. He says that it was a hand me down from his uncle, when Carter and Adam fly past. They watch the fight and Al comments that Carter doesn't give up, which Maxine agrees with. Kent then calls the two in, and Maxine opens the hatch. She says let's go, and Al awkwardly tries to ask how, when she jumps through a controls the wind to take her down.

Just as Adam is about to attack Maxine, she sees Al running towards them. She uses her wind to distract Adam, and Al then punches Adam to the ground. He yells that he got them, then turns to Maxine. He says that it's him, in case she didn't recognize him with the mask. He extends a hand to help her up and she jokingly says that there is something different about him, as she accepts his hand. Adam then breaks free and knocks Al out. Maxine runs along Al and checks to see if he's okay. She feels him breathe and tells Carter.

As Maxine finishes the nanobot surgery, explaining everything, Al comments that it's insane. Maxine says that the bots do most of the work, but Al says he won't let her downplay this. He says it's a miracle and she gives a little snort. Al asks if he said something stupid and Maxine points out that he can grow incredibly large, and yet has still found ways for the world to amaze him. She finds it cool and he thanks her, but thinks her nanobots are cooler. He asks if that's how she does her wind powers, and she says that the nanobots got injected into her by a mad scientist who kidnapped her when she was fifteen. Al looks horrified and awkwardly says that he's sorry, and Maxine says he's fine. Al says she's seemed to turn things around, and hopes that he's found his calling with the Justice Society.

In DC Comics, Albert and Maxine are friends, teammates, and allies as members of the Justice Society. Albert is an old member and Maxine is a new member.

Moments

Black Adam

• Maxine looks to Al as they head to the Hawkjet.
• Al and Maxine awkwardly hang around the jet after Carter told them to hang back.
• Maxine pushes Al out the hangar when he won't jump.
• Maxine looks at Al in disbelief over his interpretation of the inscription on the crown.
• Al and Maxine stand next to each other as they go over the plan to rescue Amon.
• Al clasps his hands around Maxine to protect her against the explosion.
• Al gives Amon a cape and tells Maxine it's a nice touch when she ad's a wind effect to it.
• Maxine and Al run out of the jet wreckage side by side.
• Al coughs when Maxine accidentally gets dust in his face.
• Maxine and Al acknowledge Carter's order at the same time.
• Maxine uses her wind to throw Al in the air so he can take down Sabbac.
• Maxine watches Al get hit by a fireball.
• Al and Maxine join Carter as he makes his way into the ruins, and follow his order to try and break through the shield.
• Maxine and Al fight off the Sabbac's army together.
• Maxine tells Al they have to go, and he follows after her.

Fanon

There were many rumors among the DCEU fandom about AlMax's relationship. Fans suspected the two characters were going to be romantic interests when their involvement in Black Adam (2022) was announced.

Many moments they shared were shown in advertising and promotional material till Black Adam (2022)'s release. Many fans noticed how flirty, cute, touching and romantic their interactions were and grew fond of them. It was very clear to fans that they had a crush on each other. This is what started the fandom's shipping of the pairing.

Post the film's release, fans pointed out how cute and wholesome they were in it, with many pleading to see more of them. Some fans were disappointed they didn't get together at the end or kiss. The former is partly due to them having little screentime as a whole in the film but also due to the fact that fans loved the potential their characters had individually and together. There is a slowly growing campaign for them to have a spinoff series together. This is an idea which was created and is strongly endorsed by Noah Centineo and Quintessa Swindell (the actors who play Albert and Maxine).^{[citation needed]}

On A03, there are very few fanfics about them. However, there is a strong desire among AlMaxs small shipping community to write fics about them.
