In "Strike Up the Sands", Aladdin first encounters Sadira then he saw her running away from the palace guards for stealing a melon, not unlike how they tried to chase Aladdin for stealing a loaf of bread in the first film. Aladdin saved her from being arrested and told her he had problems with them too, and advise her to be careful next time. Sadira becomes smitten with him, and believes they are soulmates. Sadira is heartbroken to not only learn that Aladdin already has a girlfriend, but that his girlfriend is also the princess. When she discovers the old lair of the Witches of the Sand, she starts using magic to steal Aladdin, but her first attempt at magic didn't go so well.

In "Sand Switch", Sadira casts a spell which alters reality so that Sadira is the princess and Jasmine is the street rat. Thus, Aladdin is in love with Sadira. However, the spell had no affect on the animals Iago, Abu, and Rajah, so they still retain their memories and are aware that this was all Sadira's doing. The animals escape to search for Jasmine and try to get her and Aladdin back together. Upon setting eyes on each other, Aladdin and Jasmine begin to feel the love between them, leading them to kiss. And in that moment, it broke the spell and set everything back to normal, much to Sadira's dismay.

In "Dune Quixote", Sadira casts a fantasy spell to make Aladdin her knight in shining armor. However, Jasmine stops her. But the spell botches and Aladdin still thinks he is a knight. Sadira kisses him to break the spell. And at the end, Sadira realizes her errors and gives up trying to steal Aladdin. She ends up becoming friends with Aladdin and the rest of the gang.

In "Which Way Did She Go?", despite being accused that she hasn't really changed, she risks her life to save her friends and seal the Witches of the Sand back to their prison; when Sadira nearly fell in, Aladdin was the one to grab her hand. Aladdin and the others apologize. She was also invited to attend Aladdin and Jasmine's wedding in Aladdin and the King of Thieves.

Aladdin x Sadira is a rare pair within the Aladdin fandom, compared to the most popular ships, like Jaladdin. Fans of the ship often cite the similarities between them (they both dress similarly, they are both former thieves, etc.) as the reason why they ship the two.

Trivia[]

  • Sadira may have been inspired by the unused character Abbi from Howard Ashman's 1988 treatment for the original Aladdin movie, who served as the character's official love interest instead of Jasmine, who was originally written as a spoiled brat in this version as opposed to the headstrong, compassionate woman as seen in the final film. Abbi is a tomboyish street urchin (not unlike Sadira) who joins Aladdin on his quest to rescue Jasmine. At the end of Ashman's treatment, when he was offered the princess' hand in marriage, Aladdin refused in favor of his true love Abbi (while Jasmine seems to fall for one of Aladdin's friends Omar).
