AlbertJake is the family ship between Albert Wesker and Jake Muller from the Resident Evil fandom.

Canon

Jake Muller was born to Albert Wesker and an unnamed woman in 1992. Jake grew up poor, taking on odd jobs and mercenary work to support his single mother and himself. Jake never met Wesker, leading to intense resentment due to his father’s absence from his and his mother’s life.

Resident Evil 6

In December 2012, Jake is 20 years old and is hired to help take care of the intruding Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (B.S.A.A.). A woman in a blue dress visits Jake and his fellow mercenaries, providing them with a supply of syringes and injectors that are full of the C-Virus, though telling them it was a form of energy booster to increase and improve their performance. Jake sits by himself and injects himself, though he feels no effect. American federal agent Sherry Birkin had received orders to locate Jake and bring him back to the United States in order for blood samples to be taken for vaccine research. As they meet for the first time, Sherry confirms he’s got the antibodies, which he only has due to being Wesker’s son.

Sometime later, Jake and Sherry evade the Ustanak, a large B.O.W. hunting Jake. As they leave a mining tunnel, the Ustanak comes up from behind, knocking them both down. With Jake on the ground, the woman in the blue dress walks up to him and calls him “Wesker junior”. Jake is confused, questioning who Wesker is. The woman proceeds to called Albert Wesker a “colossal imbecile” and a “fool who tried to destroy the world,” before dropping the bomb that Wesker is also Jake’s father. Jake shouts in astonishment, before the woman claims he is the “heir to a very special blood type”.

Six months later, Jake and Sherry have been taken prisoner and used in research to enhance the C-Virus. Upon being reunited, they discuss what had been done to them over the months. Jake questions Sherry if she knows anything about Wesker, to which Sherry gives a long pause before acting like she doesn’t know. Jake takes her hesitation as a “yes” and describes how his captors spoke about Wesker frequently. All throughout Jake’s life, he thought Wesker was just some deadbeat who skipped out on his mother and him, but rather he was a “nut job” who almost destroyed the world. Sherry argues how Wesker’s actions have nothing to do with Jake’s. Jake grows more angry and frustrated because of his blood, the blood he shares with Wesker is the whole reason why he and Sherry are in the situation they’re in. Due to Jake’s past; the “man that he is” and the “things that he’s done,” Jake feels it all makes a little bit more sense now has he knows where he comes from. Sherry’s own frustration boils over and she tells him he can blame Wesker all he wants, but at some point Jake will have to take responsibility for his own actions.

Sometime later, Jake and Sherry are again taken prisoner. They’re rescued by B.S.A.A. partners Chris Redfield and Piers Nivans. Upon meeting up with them, Chris stares at Jake, before commenting “he can see his father in him”. Not realizing Chris knew Wesker, Jake asks him. Chris confirms he did and that he was also the one who killed him. Despite Jake’s own anger at his father, he’s furious at hearing Chris say he killed him, pulling a gun on him. Chris allows Jake to shoot him as he “has every right to”. Jake questions if he was just following orders, or if Chris’ own vendetta against him lead to Wesker’s death. Chris replying both. Angry boils over and Jake shoots past Chris’ ear, grazing his cheek. He knows there are greater things at stake than this and the two soon part ways with their respective partners.

Jake – “Yeah, but his blood does! It’s the whole reason why we’re even here. I mean, come one! You really think crazy doesn’t run in the family? That nothing of who my father was didn’t somehow get passed down to me? You of all people should know that’s true. I’m just sayin’… the man that I am, the things that I’ve done… at least it all makes a little bit more sense now.”

Sherry – “You can blame your father all you want. But at some point you have to take responsibility for your own actions.”

— Jake and Sherry have a heated conversation about Wesker being Jake’s father.

Chris – “I can see your father in you.”

Jake – “Wait, hold on sec – so you knew him?”

Chris – “Yeah. I did. And I’m the one that killed him.”

Chris – “That’s right. [to Piers] This is between me and him. [to Jake] Go ahead, shoot. You have every right to.”

Fanon

AlbertJake is a small relationship with a big impact within the Resident Evil fandom. Due to Wesker’s stoicism and workaholic tendencies from being power-hungry, when the revelation of Wesker being a father was revealed, the fandom was confused as it seemed almost too OOC for he to partake in seemingly unknowingly conceiving a child with a random unnamed woman. The thought of Wesker having a casual sexual encounter that resulted with a child bewildered the fandom.

However, with Wesker being the series’ main villain for years up until his death and Jake being revealed as his son left fans wishing to explore what their dynamic could have been. Fan works between the two often have them meeting each other or having them always known each other. These works also tend to feature Wesker’s ex-lover, Jake’s mother.
