Canon[]
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022)[]
Colonel Alejandro Vargas and Sergeant Major Rodolfo Parra are members of the elite Mexican Special Forces, Los Vaqueros (The Cowboys, in English), which is led by Alejandro, with Rodolfo serving as his second-in-command. They are long-time friends and comrades, having grown up together in Las Almas, Mexico. By 2022, Alejandro is well acquainted with Station Chief Kate Laswell, one of the commanders of Task Force 141. On October 29th, Laswell dispatches Alejandro and Rodolfo to prevent terrorist Major Hassan Zyani from being smuggled over the United States/Mexico border wall by members of the Las Almas Cartel. Unfortunately, Hassan is able to cross the border into the U.S., meaning Alejandro and Rodolfo have no jurisdiction. They cross anyway and continue to track Hassan, following him from house to house. They eventually come to the stash house where Hassan is located. Alejandro and Rodolfo split up to search the house, with Rodolfo taking the upstairs. He’s soon compromised and nearly killed by Hassan, when Hassan decides to have him burn with the house “like Ghorbrani,” his commander who was killed months prior by Laswell’s team. Rodolfo lies on floor, bleeding from being hit with the butt of an assault rifle as the house begins to go up in flames. From outside, Alejandro radios him, telling him he sees smoke, asking of his status and that’s he’s moving interior. Rodolfo tells him not to come, as he’s not getting out, only for Alejandro to demand where he is. Accepting his fate, Rodolfo tries to steer Alejandro back to the mission at hand – apprehending Hassan. He tells him Hassan is moving, and that “something is crossing the Atlantic”. Alejandro isn’t listening to him, instead he yells his name. Moments later Alejandro burst into the flame-consumed room and picks Rodolfo up, yelling for him to hang on and that he’s got him.
On October 30th, 2022, Alejandro and Rodolfo meet up with official operatives of Task Force 141, Lieutenant Simon “Ghost” Riley and Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish. Upon the failed mission to apprehend Hassan, Ghost and Soap are dispatched to Las Almas where Hassan has returned over the border and is continued being protected the Las Almas Cartel. Just before the mission is set to begin, Alejandro and Rodolfo fist bump. They fight their way through building to building being used as hideouts, where they discover they missed Hassan again. They’re soon attacked by corrupt units of the Mexican Army and are forced to escape from the hideout. As they’re engaging the army, Rodolfo is separated from Alejandro. Moving throughout the mountains with Ghost and Soap, Alejandro makes numerous attempts to get in contact with him. The three men are saved by Commander Phillip Graves and his Shadow Company. Back in communications with Rodolfo, Alejandro radios him for an exfil. With Graves’ assistances, the team locates Hassan and Rodolfo takes them to a secure location for interrogation.
On November 2nd, 2022, Rodolfo remains back while Alejandro leaves for a mission with Ghost, Soap and Graves to disarm one of three missing American missiles in the Gulf of Mexico. Mission success, on the way back to Los Vaqueros’ base, Graves betrays the team by claiming ownership over the base, as he “admires it”. Alejandro fights him, though is overpowered by Graves and his Shadow Company. He is taken as a prisoner along with the rest of Los Vaqueros. Rodolfo avoids capture and links up with Ghost and Soap later into the night at Alejandro’s safehouse. In the wake of Grave’s betrayal and knowing they need Alejandro back, Rodolfo had already worked out where Grave was keeping him – in a disused prison that’s been taken over by Shadow Company.
A plan is devised to break in and the three men arrive to the prison. Soap hopes Alejandro is still alive, with Rodolfo telling him to “count on it.” Soap then asks how long he and Alejandro have known each other, with Rodolfo telling him for 20 years, furthering explaining how they signed up together. Inside, after Ghost and Soap complete their task of planting charges in key areas, Rodolfo locates Alejandro. They arrive to the cell he’s being held in and free him, where Rodolfo gives him a gun. The team battles their way out the way they came in, with assists from fellow Task Force 141 operatives Captain John Price and Sergeant Kyle “Gaz” Garrick. Escaping the prison and headed back to the safehouse, the team has a meeting about what they’re going to do next: retaking Los Vaqueros’ base and killing Graves – becoming Ghost Team.
Ghost Team splits into two teams – with Alejandro on Team-1, while Rodolfo is on Team-2. Rodolfo and Soap are successful in killing Graves, while Alejandro and Gaz go to secure El Sin Nombre (The Nameless, in English), leader of the Las Almas Cartel, otherwise known as Valeria Garza, who had been taken as a prisoner days prior as she was helping Hassan smuggle the American missiles. With Valeria in custody, Alejandro and Rodolfo say goodbye to Ghost and Soap as they board a plane to leave Mexico to thwart Hassan and the final missile in Chicago, United States.

Fanon[]
Aledolfo is a popular ship within the Call of Duty fandom. It was initially slow rising as they’re primary seen as a side-pairing to GhostSoap. Shippers were increasingly wishing for more solo content between just them, which has been the case, as they’re the second most popular ship, just behind GhostSoap. Fan works often portray Aledolfo as (secretly) married and explore their long-time partnership as they’ve known each other for 20+ years.
On AO3, Aledolfo is the most written ship for both Rodolfo and Alejandro. It is also the second most written ship in the Call of Duty (Video Games) tag. There are currently 1000+ works written romantic/slash works. There are also 70+ in its platonic/general tag.
