Algrid is the femslash ship between Alcina Dimitrescu and Ingrid the Maiden from the Resident Evil fandom.

Canon

Maiden

During the 1950s, Ingrid, though only known as the unnamed maiden at this point, was a maid who worked for Alcina within her castle, Castle Dimitrescu. At some point into her employment, she is taken and locked in the castle’s dungeon. Ingrid awakens where she finds a note from a previous prisoner that gives her clues on how to escape. Upon escaping the dungeon, she’s inside the castle proper where she locates the courtyard key. She’s hunted and attacked by Cassandra, one of Alcina’s daughters. Ingrid manages to evade Cassandra. She locates the courtyard doors only to be met by Alcina herself. Alcina pushes open the doors, telling Ingrid, “So now we finally meet.” Alcina grips Ingrid by her throat and unsheathes her large claws from her right hand, impaling her.

Resident Evil 8: Village

In February 2021, Ingrid’s fate is revealed, in addition to her name being Ingrid. Alcina had transformed her into a Moroaicǎ, a monster that roams the castle’s dungeon. It was noted Ingrid was “unstable” and “overly alert at times” as opposed to the other Moroaicǎ. Ingrid became another of Alcina’s victims for her blood. Alcina is known for producing a wine known as “Sanguis Virginis,” which is Latin for “Maiden’s Blood”.

Fanon

Algrid would be considered a popular rare pair within the Resident Evil fandom. Beyond Ingrid’s name being briefly revealed in RE8, she’s a silent minor character who fans often create into their own character. A widely popular headcanon is that Alcina is a lesbian, and given how Ingrid is the only notable servant girl of Castle Dimitrescu, fans are fond of creating fanworks of the pair. In the majority of these works, Ingrid is headcanoned as a lesbian as well.

As Alcina is the lady of the castle, some fanworks portray an unbalanced power dynamic of abusive master/servant, while others make her out to be caring to her employees, making her genuinely love Ingrid. In these works, Ingrid is not used to make Alcina’s famous wine, but rather the two become partners, in both the business senses and lover senses.

On AO3, Algrid has 60+ works in its femslash/romantic tag, and 2+ works in its general/friendship tag. Within the fandom, femslash ships are not has prevalent as its het and slash ships are. Algrid would be considered one of Resident Evil’s most popular WLW ships.
