Amalydia is the femslash ship between Amanda Lopez and Lydia from the Milo Murphy's Law fandom.

Canon

Overview

Lydia and Amanda are sort of besties. Amanda has Lydia working as her little servant, helping her put together things and help to set up her plans. Lydia does this with complete and total enthusiasm too, openly admitting to blindly following all of Amanda's orders and enjoying it too. Amanda is firm and somewhat domineering when giving orders to Lydia but she's still very sweet and thankful to Lydia for getting the job done right, trusting her to do it well. It's obvious that Amanda wears the pants in the relationship and Lydia is the submissive one. This is a nice sub and dom dynamic that fuels the friendship of Amanda and Lydia, helping them to co-exist, get along, and work together like a well-oiled machine.

Season 1

School Dance

Amanda was so busy with setting up the Niagara Falls Fling school dance, that she simply just had no time to have any fun at the dance, herself. Her solution was to outsource "having fun" to Lydia, having her take care of enjoying the dance for her. Lydia was seen dancing and partying at the Niagara Falls Fling and assuring Amanda that she was having tons of fun right now. Amanda thanked Lydia for lending a helping hand. Amanda later crawled around on the floor with a shoe in her hand, looking at everyone's feet, in search of which student had lost their shoe. Lydia came by to help her out, telling her that it was Milo who had lost his right shoe. Lydia danced more for Amanda and looked on as she saw Amanda return Milo's shoe to him, Cinderella style and see Milo ask her to dance. After being convinced that she'd been working hard enough and now had the chance to loosen up and have some fun, Amanda accepted Milo's invitation and went to dance on the floor with him, telling Lydia that she can "take five" now, since she would be having fun for herself.

Battle of the Bands

Amanda and Lydia went to The Battle of the Bands together. The Battle of the Bands was eventually flooded and Amanda and Lydia rode in the monsoon together, cheering and having fun.

Season 2

Cake'splosion

Lydia was surprised when Amanda lost her cool and started cheering and celebrating the show Cake'splosion, having never seen this side of her before.

Managing Murphy's Law

Amanda worked as the band manager for Just Getting Started, and texted Lydia to bring everybody's musical instruments to school. In record time, Lydia rushed right on down to Jefferson County Middle School with the instruments. She announced that Amanda texted her and she just blindly followed orders down to a t, not asking any questions. Lydia would later assist Amanda and the rest of Just Getting Started for the remainder of the episode. Amanda was mostly seen texting during this time as well, supposedly giving Lydia some very clearly constructed orders on how she should help out the band.

Fanon

Despite their deep connection and their togetherness, Amalydia is a rarepair in the fandom. It only has one known fanfiction on AO3, which is a nice little sequel to the episode, "School Dance", wherein Amanda realizes that she doesn't like Milo that way and seeks comfort in Lydia, realizing that she's actually the one for her. This is likely due to Lydia's limited screentime and lack of importance in the overall plot of the show. It could also be due to Amanda's far more popular rival ships such as Milanda, which is canon, and Amalissa, which is not canon but still features the interactions between two characters who get more screentime together.
