Anderperry is the slash ship between Neil Perry and Todd Anderson from the Dead Poets Society fandom.
Canon[]
Todd and Neil first meet as roommates when Todd comes to Welton Academy. On contrary to Neil’s welcoming attitude, Todd is shy and kept to himself, which earns a few side comments from his roommate. When learning about the Dead Poets Society and what they did, Neil decided to follow into their footsteps, inviting all his friends to do so, also convincing Todd to come, who was initially against going. Their friendship continues, and as months go by, they quickly gain a bond as best friends, and are heavily implied to hold romantic feelings for each other.
Neil, who dreamed to be an actor, found out about an audition for Midsummer Night’s Dream and Todd is the first to know about it. However, Todd is worried about what Neil’s father will think about it, creating a small argument between the two that leaves quickly. During this, Todd is writing a poem for an English assignment while he tells Neil that he could never be like him. Todd declares that he can take care of himself fine, to which Neil disagrees, playfully saying ‘no.’. Neil the snatches the poem Todd is writing from his hands, running around their room as he is being chased for it back. He realises it’s poetry and declares, while Todd is still running after him, that he is ‘being chased by Walt Whitman’.
The day later, Mr Keating asks everyone to read out a poem they had to write aloud, and Todd claims that he has not written a poem. Todd is then dragged in front of the class, and Mr Keating pushes him into creating a poem that leaves everyone baffled, especially Neil who looks at him in awe.
Some time after, Neil gets the role of Puck in Midsummer Night’s Dream, to which he seemed to have informed Todd about before all his other friends. Neil is seen writing, as his father, a letter to the theatre as his actual father would’ve never allowed it. However, when his father does find out, it creates an argument but his father lets Neil do the play with great hesitation.
When Neil performs the play out, Todd is seen to be smiling at the performance. After the play, Neil is dragged home by his father, leaving Todd with a sad look as he watches the car leave. Back home, Neil is threatened by his father, who says he’ll send him to a military school, leaving Neil saddened as he cannot fulfil his dreams of acting. Neil is saddened to the point where he shoots himself at night, and his body is found by his parents. Neil’s friends find out and his one of his closest friends Charlie has to tell the news to Todd.
Todd is then seen outside, watching the view as tears well up in his eyes. He tells himself that the view is beautiful, before vomiting in the snow, clearly because of Neil’s death. As his friends rush to comfort him, Todd exclaims through heavy sobs that his father killed Neil. He then runs out to the snow, falling and rolling towards the docks which in a deleted scene Todd and Neil can be seen practicing Neil's lines together for the play, and the scene ends with Todd crying out Neil’s name.
