Animalcraft is the family ship between Villager and Steve from the Super Smash Bros. fandom.

Canon[]

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is often compared to Minecraft: It adds tool durability, the ability to change the environment with shovels and most importantly, Crafting. Though Animal Crossing crafting is far simpler. Additionally, both wield axes to chop down trees.

Both are the only humans in their setting, though other humans can enter their town/world in multiplayer. The closest thing to native humans in the world of Minecraft are NPCs coincidentally also named "Villager", which the Animal Crossing Villager represents in Spirit Battles and other Minecraft events.

Super Smash Bros.[]

Steve and Villager are both mechanically unique characters, with Villager being able to pocket any projectile and Steve being able to draw resources to upgrade weapons from any type of ground and being able to place blocks to stand on.

Much like Villager, Steve's alt costumes have different skin tones, they also have a functionally identical "female" counterpart. Though unlike female Villager, Alex is a separate character.

In Steve's Classic Mode "Journey to the Far Lands", Round 2 has a Villager attacked by a group of Warios, with R.O.B. assisting Steve in saving them. This represents the "Pillage" events in Minecraft, where NPCs also called "Villagers" are attacked by Pillagers, which are represented by Wario, with the player character having the option to save them to earn their gratitude (R.O.B. represents an Iron Golem).

Fanon[]

Within the Super Smash Bros. fanbase, both characters have a reputation of being somewhat "creepy". They have static, unmoving faces and use rather dangerous tools.

One comic shows them staring at each other without saying anything for an hour, which seriously creeps out normally fearless villains Bowser and Ridley, with the former being flat out concerned for the safety of his son. An epilogue shows Villager drawing out an axe and Steve a diamond sword, all without moving another muscle. However, many commented that they look like father and son, prompting the artist to draw speech bubbles of Villager asking how his mother is, with Steve saying that she's proud of him. This has spawned theories that Steve and Alex are Villager's previously unseen parents. Some have also joked that Villager is named after a Villager from Minecraft.

One artist has pointed out the similarities between the two axe-wielders, by having Steve chop down Villager's tree, with the latter looking sad about it. Another artist has drawn Villager being excited about Steve joining, though caring more about Steve's Crafting Table. Outside of Smash, cosplaying Steve in Animal Crossing and using a Villager skin in Minecraft is fairly common.
