Aphroestus is the poly ship between Aphrodite, Ares and Hephaestus from Greek Mythology.
Canon[]
Aphrodite, Ares and Hephaestus are all official Olympians, Ares and Hephaestus are the children of Zeus and Hera (though Hephaestus is only sometimes related to Zeus, being created by Hera asexually), Aphrodite joined them after emerging from the sea. As soon as Aphrodite arrived at Mount Olympus, a brawl broke out amongst the male gods over who gets to claim her as his wife, though Ares was among the brawlers, Hephaestus is often left out of it. Since Hephaestus had recently kept his mother Hera trapped until Zeus gives in to his demands, Zeus decides to just kill two birds with one stone by marrying Aphrodite off to Hephaestus. Though even Hephaestus couldn't believe that the most beautiful of the goddesses is now officially his wife, Aphrodite was only pretending to love him since her heart belonged to Ares. So the two agreed to secretly meet in Hephaestus' bed whenever he was not paying attention. It went well for a while, but when the sun came up, the god in charge of it caught the two of them in private without them noticing. The sun god (either Helios or Apollo) then informed Hephaestus of his wife's infidelity, Hephaestus was so mad that he immediately swore revenge against the two lovers. He built a net for them so thin is practically invisible, yet so strong that it could immobilize anyone caught in it, then prepared his bed so that the two would slip right under the net next time they decided to make love behind his back. When Hephaestus waited until he heard the two of them make noise in his bedroom, he pulled the strap of the net and managed to successfully tie the two into the bed, being unable to move away from each other in a passionate embrace. Hephaestus then revealed the two to the other Olympians in order to show the world how unfaithful Aphrodite had been to him. Though the Olympians were clearly amused at their expense, some of them admitted that they wouldn't have minded being in Ares' place, considering the chance to have a night with Aphrodite to be worth it, even if Hephaestus ends up catching them. Hephaestus eventually agreed to set them free, but his marriage with Aphrodite was pretty much considered annulled, not that she minded it, since she could now be with Ares at any time.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians[]
In a small joke in The Lightning Thief, it is revealed that Hephaestus is still not over Aphrodite cheating on him with Ares, as he had laid traps for them to continue to humiliate to this day. Though Percy and Annabeth accidentally end up trapped in one of these, they actually found a scarf belonging to Aphrodite when they were actually looking for Ares' shield, implying that Hephaestus was actually correct about them having met there before.
In Titan's Curse, the three don't interact with each other directly, though Aphrodite does order Ares to chaffeur her towards the Junkyard of the Gods, both to chat with Percy and to warn him not to touch any of the junk, Hephaestus had laid more traps there. However, during the winter solstice when the Olympians vote whether Percy should or shouldn't be destroyed to prevent further disaster, Hephaestus and Aphrodite are surprisingly agreeing that Percy should be spared, whilst Ares is among the gods who wanted him destroyed.

Fanon[]
The Hephaestus/Aphrodite/Ares triangle is one of the most famous love triangles in mythology, among the likes of Arwencelot. Though the relationship between Hephaestus and Aphrodite ended on a sour note, some wonder whether Hephaestus could've approved of Aphrodite seeing Ares on the side if she were simply honest about it. Some even think that Hephaestus is asexual and that Aphrodite could've stayed with him to fulfill her desire for romantic love, whilst going to Ares to quench her libido.
On AO3, the ship is more popular in Percy Jackson than the one for the original myths, whilst being a rarepair in the Blood of Zeus tag.
