AquKana is the het ship between Aquamarine Hoshino and Kana Arima from the Oshi no Ko fandom.

Canon[]

Prologue[]

Kana first met Aqua when she was three and while Aqua as two years old for an acting gig. Kana acted extremely pompous and arrogant during their first meeting. Even insulting Ai, which Aqua and Ruby didn't like. After their first performance, she was amazed by the disparity of their individual abilities. From this interaction Kana ended up questioning her acting abilities, subconsciously limiting herself.

Show Business[]

Aqua and Kana meet again at Yoto Highschool years later where both of Aqua and Ruby had applied for enrollment ent at the high school. Kana was excited to see Aqua again, but was shocked to hear the Aqua was applying for general education instead of performing arts, and even grossed out when Ruby states of Aqua's "sister-complex". Kana would later follow him outside of school trying to get closer to him, they would later arrive at Taishi's place. Kana would ask about Aqua's about him visiting the director, where she learns that he's like the director's assistance, making her happy that he's still in the entertainment industry. While having supper at Taishi's place, Kana tries to convince Aqua into getting into acting again, but fails until she mentions the producers name, which convinces him to take a part in the film that Kana is playing in. The next day, Aqua and Kana met up, they would talk about acting abilities and the show. While filming, they quickly they rekindled there relationship, allowing Kana to get over a jealousy she had towards Aqua for years. From there, her jealousy turned into a full-on admiration for him. Later after the Hoshino siblings, High School Entrance Ceremony Kana spots them and congratulates them. After that, she shows them around, assures Ruby that there's nothing to worry about and welcomes them in the showbusiness. With Ruby still putting together for a new idol group, Aqua suggest having Kana join the group. Later with Ruby putting a new idol group, Aqua had call her to meet with him, Aqua would convince Kana to join Ruby's idol group.

Dating Reality Show[]

When Aqua begins acting in a reality dating show, Kana does not hide her displeasure. She dislikes the façade that he puts on for the camera, believing it to be severely out of character for him. During the time of the cyber-hate of Akane Kurokawa, Kana was surprised to hear when she heard from Miyako that Aqua apparently gotten into trouble with the police. After Aqua, Yuki, Nobuyuki, Kengo, and Mem-Cho had save Akane's reputation, at Strawberry Productions, Kana and Aqua talk about Akane.

During film, during the for the reality dating show that Aqua was in, Kana stopped watching the show making the excuse that she didn't want to see Aqua's face. And when Aqua and Akane became the talk about about the reality dating show, Kana was hurt when she heard two girls talking about Aqua and Akane when she was walking to school. She would later be found by Aqua who asks her to skip school to hang out with him. While skipping school they have a conversation with each other while skipping school later they would go to a baseball field, where they throw a baseball back and forward to each other. While throwing a baseball back to each other, they talk about the Love Now show then the conversation when to talkin about Akane. She then would ask him who he was going out with, although he doesn't answer as he sees it as a job. Kana would ask Aqua of what type of girls he likes whether it's the younger or older girls he likes. But Aqua pauses, and loudly states of the boundary between 'him' and 'Aqua Hoshino' steadily disappearing, which makes Kana concern if Aqua possibly having eighth-grader syndrome and tells him to grow out of it as it painful for her to watch, but Aqua retaliates by hurling the ball at her. Aqua admits that he sees girls around his age as potential love interests, adding that he prefers them older. This make Kana happy, but it quickly fades when she realizes that Akane is also the same age as her. With the finale of Love Now, Kana was dismayed when she saw Aqua and Akane share a kiss, after the ending of the film, telling him to drop dead and even calling him a jerk.

The First Concert[]

With Mem-Cho now joining Strawberry Productions to join Ruby's idol group of B-Komachi, Aqua and Kana's relationship has been strained due to what happened during the finale of Love Now, Kana had resolved herself to ignore Aqua whenever possible and looked for other forms of escapism. At school with the popularity of Love Now, Aqua became popular with the other females in general education and performing-arts and Kana had ignored him. After the new B-Komachi finished with training, Aqua tried to give Kana water but she angrily refuses the gesture. Aqua bring up her cold attitude towards him and tells her that even he will feel hurt if she keeps it up, Kana distruat blame Aqua for starting this in the first place, just before he leaves she would try to call out for Aqua but he wasn't there. While Kana was still being discourage with things with Aqua, Ruby recalls that her brother scouted both Kana and Mem and gets concerned about her brother's taste in women.

With Kana refusing to accept the role as the center of B-Komachi, Miyako brings someone to bring support to them, at first Kana thought that it was Aqua, but instead it was Pieyon, in reality it was Aqua posing a Pieyon. Aqua as Pieyon would have the group train in session that improved there stamina and choreography. After the session, Aqua as Pieyon asks Kana if she regrets becoming an idol. But Kana doubts she has what it takes to be an idol or the center, but shares a heart-to-heart about herself with Pieyon and considers falling for him and dropping Aqua without realizing that she is falling for the same guy. After another session, Aqua as Pieyon would give Kana a bottle of water, which she takes, when asked about Aqua by Mem, Kana would tell Mem about her gripes with Aqua but also mentions his impression on her when they were younger. When Aqua was talking with the real Pieyon, he was asked why he is supporting them, which Aqua says that Kana would not listen to what he says, but Pieyon thinks otherwise, but Aqua admits that he's "rather fragile." Later that night, Kana headed downstairs and sees Pieyon's mask eager to see what Pieyon looks like, Kana was shocked to learn that Aqua was posing as him. This would cause Kana to wonder how much of what Aqua said to her was a lie to maker her train more serious, and was unable to sleep later that night.

During the event Aqua watches B-Komachi perform at the event, Aqua supports the group by having a red, yellow, and white glow stick which represents her, as many fans at the event only had red or yellow glow sticks. Aqua then performing a dance waving all the member's colors to support them. The dance, makes Kana wonder how Aqua is able to dance while keeping a straight face. Kana internalizes that Aqua always drives her crazy by doing such things, and since he wants to see her perform, she wants him to look at her more, wanting to become the star and fav. After the event, B-Komachi and Strawberry production leave and during the on the drive home, Kana askes Aqua about there performance, later when Miyako asks about things with Akane, Kana is relieved to learn that Aqua's relationship with Akane is only for work which makes her happy. Mem soon realizes a growing love triangle between the Aqua, Kana, and Akane, and Mem would conflict which to support. The next morning, Kana asks Aqua why he helped them while posing as Pieyon. Aqua tells her it was because she was not talking with him. She would excitedly teases and pesters him which Aqua mentioning his "sister-complex" again and during there conversation Aqua is displeased with her, they would later talk to each other. While Ruby was talking with Mem, Ruby tells Mem that Aqua when's he around Kana he acts like his old self. Later with the upcoming Tokyo Blade performance approaching Aqua, Akane, and Kana become cast member for the play. Later Kana appears at Aqua and Akane's work date, Aqua would witness Kana and Akane's fierce rivalry and the two would declare that they will not lose.

2.5D Stage Play[]

At the staff meeting, Aqua and Kana enter together. When Akane talks to Aqua and says she'll be helping him, Kana looks at the two in jealousy. Melt approaches her and says that they are dating, to which Kana says it's a business relationship. Melt then brings up that the characters that they will be acting as in Tokyo Blade are engaged, and Kana says she doesn't like it when someone is trying to connect the actors' real lives with their work on stage. Akane says Aqua gets well along with Kana, and asks if he's sad that they don't have many scenes together. Aqua denies it, and says how passionate Kana gets about acting is scary. Later on, when Kana and Taiki rehearse, Akane sees that Aqua is amazed by their acting. When Taiki asks Kana to lunch, we can see Aqua looking at the two of them.

Akane sees Aqua isolated and goes to talk to him, and sees him staring at Kana. When she asks him if he is staring at her, Aqua says yes. Aqua then says that Kana has a habit of adjusting to the acting of others around her, and now she has the star actor of Lalalai, Himekawa Taiki by her side, Akane will lose to Kana by a wide margin.

After the script is changed, Aqua has trouble doing emotional acting, and Kana calls him out for it. She says Akane doesn't need to coddle him, since Aqua doesn't usually express his emotions, she can't feel any emotion in his acting either, and he's only reenacting scenes he's seen somewhere. Akane says Kana talks like she knows him so well, and Kana says out of everyone in the set, she knows him for the longest, and they're practically childhood friends. Aqua rebutted her, saying that they only reconnected recently. But in his mind, he knows that what Kana said is right. Kana thinks that she might have gone too far, but if she won't say it, no one else will. Aqua asks Kana how does she cry on stage. Kana gets happy, and says that the most common way they get child actors to cry is to ask them "What would you do if your mother died?", all Aqua has to do is to imagine that the thing in front of him is precious, and that even a guy like him has a happy memory or two. He thinks about memories that made him happy, and he thinks of the time he spent with Kana and new B-Komachi's first concert. But his PTSD activates, and he collapses in front of everyone, and Kana gets worried and rushes over to him. When Ryoma says that Akane is Aqua's girlfriend and should stay by him, Kana expresses jealousy. After Akane brings Aqua to the director's house, he asks if Akane is Aqua's girlfriend. When she nods, Gotanda expresses surprise as he thought it was Kana for sure.

After Akane failed to successfully fight with Kana, she wonders if she's mistaken. Aqua appears, and says that it's okay, because he hates the way Kana acts now too. Aqua says that Kana shines the brightest when she's drawing everybody's attention. He and Akane decide to draw Kana out into the spotlight together.

In the play, Taiki does an ad-lib and throws Kana to Aqua. Kana communicates to Aqua to just play along, but he does another ad-lib and squishes Kana's cheeks and touches her arm. He goes back to the script while leading her to center stage so everyone's attention is on her. Kana wonders if Aqua was always this good at acting and thinks that he makes it easy to perform. Using his movements, Aqua communicates to her that she doesn't need to be the coordinator and he'll take care of any ad-lib she throws at him, for her to just act the way she wants. In a thought sequence, Aqua shines the spotlight on Kana, and he says that everyone wants to see what Kana is capable of, and he also wants to see what performance she wants to do. Kana lets go of her brakes and thinks that this is all Aqua's fault, and that he always knows how to push her buttons. Aqua thinks that both Kana and Akane are putting on great performances, and Kana asks what about him.

In the highlight of Aqua's scenes, he swears that he will beat Kana and Akane and everyone else in the industry. Seeing Aqua's emotional acting, Kana thinks he's amazing, but wonders why does he look so painful. Gorou asks Aqua if he has seen the light in Arima Kana, and if he could live a happy life, and says he won't let him.
