AquaKane is the het ship between Aquamarine Hoshino and Akane Kurokowa from the Oshi no Ko fandom.
Canon[]
Akane and Aqua meet in LoveNow, a dating reality show, showing us that they started with a professional relationship. As the episodes progress, near the season finale Aqua and Akane along with the rest of the cast were a part of Yuki's act of wanting to quit the show. After filming Yuki would reveal that she wasn't quitting, later the crew would go out for Yakiniku. Akane would grill food and would give a piece of meat that she grilled to Aqua, but he wondered why she wasn't eating any meat, Akane would reveal to Aqua that she's was a vegetarian. As the episodes kept progressing, Akane struggles to stand out and be recognized. Her partner, Yuki, stands out much more than her, which causes Akane to get angry. In a moment of desperation she accidentally injures Yuki, scratching his cheek. This does not go over well with the public, and Akane quickly becomes the victim of cyber bullying and hate, even receiving death threats. Akane, plunged into an incredible depression, considers committing suicide. Just as she is about to throw herself off a bridge, Aqua runs to pull her back, hugging her and holding her to prevent her from committing the reckless act.
Aqua plans on saving Akane
Aqua and Akane are then sent to a police station. Aqua shows her concern, saying that if he had arrived a few seconds later, Akane would not have survived. Since then Aqua starts working on a special video to prove to the public that Akane did not intentionally hurt Yuki. After a few days, they manage to finish it. Aqua is too exhausted since he worked too much and is worried about finishing the video as soon as possible, but seeing Akane smile again causes him to smile anyway. Akane begins to develop feelings towards Aqua, and becomes his source of inspiration.
The following days, Akane starts thinking about how she could act as Ai, since Aqua told her that the former idol is his ideal girl. Akane now wants to have something with him for the Reality Show. One day, Akane arrives impersonating Ai in a very similar way, causing Aqua to be shocked by this, even to the point that he feels embarrassed and blushes. Aqua asks how Akane managed to impersonate Ai so well, and she says that by knowing the most trivial things you can be anyone. Aqua and Akane would garner popularity with each other after Akane's act as Ai. She reveals that by understanding that Ai had children it was easier for her, which leaves Aqua in shock. On the last day of the recording, Aqua starts thinking about how amazing Akane is at copying people with simple information, realizing that he can't let her go. At that moment, he approaches Akane and they share a kiss, after the finale, the rest of the cast would celebrate the filming, later Aqua and Akane would become a couple as part of there "work relationship". And the two would not see each other since then.

A few days after Ruby's first idol performance, Akane would receive news from her manager of her next line of work, Akane would be excited that she would be working with Aqua again. Later Aqua and Akane would meet up at a cafe to take a photo with each other for there work date. Aqua and Akane would discuss about appearing in the Tokyo Blade project, where they are portrayed as a well-established pair. Akane is curious as to who was chosen to play the figure who has a romantic interest with Aqua. When Kana arrives for their date, she admits that it was she. When Aqua witnesses the fierce rivalry between Kana and Akane, Akane would explain the history between her and Kana who were both child actors within the same age group to Aqua with both of the girls declaring that they will not lose.

Fanon[]
AquaKane is one of the most popular ships in the fandom, as it is one of the few canon ships in the series. Its main rivals are AquKana and KanaKane. Although it's debated whether both parts were truly in love with each other while they started the relationship, as Akane at the beginning did not know exactly what she was feeling for him and Aqua started dating her to achieve his goal but later admitted having emotions towards her, both cared for each other deeply. He trusted his plan to assassinate her father only to her, and he mentioned a couple of times that he was truly grateful for being able to have her as a companion and a girlfriend, but out of fear of losing her, he broke up with Akane to keep her safe. Despite their breakup, fans appreciated that there was no big grudge between them. They continued to talk often, and Aqua still trusted Akane to help with his plan to make the movie exposing her father.
AquaKane currently has 150+ works on AO3 in total, and it is the 3rd most written ship on both Oshi no Ko tags on the site. It also ranked 8th in a top ten anime ships of the season poll.[1]
