After Arthur Curry became the King of Atlantis and named Mera his Queen, he finds himself inspiring other Altantians to become heroes as well. Mera was one of them, from how she helps her husband and his surface allies more than once, she has also aided their Altantian hero allies. Mera was also one of the people to help Arthur embrace his Altantian heritage. They had a son who they loved very much, but Arthur Curry Jr was killed by Black Manta as a baby and this had caused a rift between the two grieving parents, until they were able to patch things up. While Arthur Jr was their child in the original prime universe, and has been featured in quite a few DC medias that have Aquaman and Mera as parents, the New 52 universe has them becoming the parents to a daughter named Princess Andrina "Andy" Curry. She grew up to become Aquawoman. Just as Arthur Jr resembled Arthur Sr, Andy's red colored hair and the green clothing she wore as a child had her looking like Mera.
Upon meeting Garth, Aquaman decides to take him under his wing as his young partner and sidekick, Aqualad. He has also given Garth the nickname "Tabpool," as he acts like a father figure than just a mentor to him. This also had Mera serve as Garth's mother figure, from when she has to step in to keep the peace between teacher and student. In the Young Justice series Garth was one of Mera's students at the academy, although Garth was given a chance to see the surface as Aquaman's young partner after he and another student helped him to fight Ocean Master, Garth decided to continue his training with Mera. While Kaldur'ahm became Aqualad in his place. Like most sidekicks who grew up and left their mentor's side within the DC universe, Garth took on the new title of Tempest.
Tula is another young Altantian who serves as one of Earth's underwater heroes, who goes by "Aquagirl". She was close with Garth, who she forms a relationship with and was also featured as one of Mera's students in the YJ series as well. After she went on a few adventures with Garth, she made time to babysit Arthur and Mera's son, before Aquababy was killed. In the New 52 reboot Tula was reintroduced as Tula Marius and the half-sister of Ocean Master. Unlike her original counterpart, however, Tula doesn't become Aquagirl, instead she served in the royal family's high-ranking military and had left the Aquaman family to join the Drift.

The Aquafam is one the superhero families of the DC Universe, this one focusing on Aquaman and his found family. Just as the Batfamily, Arrowfam, WonderFam and Flashfam focus on the found families of Batman, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman and Flash.
An earlier version of the Aquafam had included Arthur Curry Jr, and a few other characters that were later removed, before its modern version had Artur be replaced by Princess Andrina "Andy" Curry. That is why there is a debate on which one of AquaMera's children to leave in or take out. Although Artur had died at an early age in the original comics, a few DC animated adaptations don't have him die. With the continuum comics of DC Animated Universe having him reach adulthood, Batman: The Brave and the Bold presented the Atlantian prince in his teens and Young Justice have him as a child who is about to hit his early teens. Along with changing Aquababy's title to "Aquaboy". As for Andy she is mostly limited to the modern Aquaman comics, the same with some of the newer Aquafam members.

Kaldur'ahm, La'gann and Dolphin in Young Justice
Some fans of the Aquafam like to include some of its original members from the Young Justice series. Like Kaldur'ahm, La'gann and Dolphin, who later got added to the comics. They also liked the way that the animated series had featured moments and scenes on the Aquafam's well known members from the original classic comics. While hoping that the series will continue to keep Artur alive, rather than killing him off like in the comics. So Aquaboy can grow up to become another Aquaman.

Arthur and his family at the end of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
There have even been those who have considered Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom an Aquafam film. With it focusing on Aquaman's family, even though Ocean Master isn't considered a member of the Aquafam. Although there have been a few DC universes that don't have Arthur and Orm as enemies, and that has left some room for debate. Arthur's parents aren't mentioned in the Aquafam either, and mostly focuses on the found family Arthur formed with Mera after he lost his parents, that is why some see DCEU having its own version of the Aquafam. The same with the Young Justice animated series, having fans pick a version of the Aquafam they like best. The Prime or New Earth comics, YJ or DCEU.
