Arene is the het ship between Ares and Lene from the Fire Emblem fandom.
Canon[]
Ares and Lene are two playable characters in Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War. Lene was orphan from Dahna, she decided to become a dancer in hope to found her mother Silvia who was also a dancer. Ares was the son of the Eldigan (a noble of Augustria and descendant of the crusader Hoðr) and of Grahnye (a citizen from Leonster). When Agustria waged war with Grannvale, Eldigan sent his wife and his son to Leonster for their own safety, Eldigan die during the war and Grahnye later died when the Grannvale Empire invaded Leonster; young Ares was then adopted and raised as a mercenary by Javarro.
Ares and Lene met at Dahna. Ares learn that the liberation army led by Seliph son of Sigurd (who Ares considere responsible for the death of his father) is near Dahna and express to Lene his desire to avenge his father. Lene says that Ares shouldn't blame Sigurd for Eldigan's death since both men were knights and that killing is a part of the knight job, then she ad that it's like the dancer job were sometime she has to dance for leering men even if she hate it. Ares say to Lene that he will think about what she told him. Later Bramsel (the lord of Dahna) try to harass Lene but Ares protect her, since Ares is the wielder of the holy weapon Mystletainn Bramsel is forced to apologize. Ares ask to Lene if she is alright, she answers yes and thanks him.
Javarro's mercenaries are sent by Bramsel to fight the liberation army. Lene beg Ares to not leave her. Ares answers that he don't have the choice since he owe Javarro dearly for raising him. Lene tell him that the mercenary only see him as a weapon. Just before he leave Lene say that he can waste his life he want so. Bramsel take advantage of the fact that Ares is away to try to harass Lene again, she insult him and he ask his men to throw her in the dungeon. When Ares learn that Lene is imprisoned he has a fight with Javarro who ask him to forget about the dancer. Ares decides to join the Liberation Army even though he resents Seliph because he is Sigurd's son. They to fight the Javarro's mercenaries, they finally kill Bramsel and liberate Dahna. Lene is free by the Liberation army and reunite with Ares. Ares is worried for Lene and she said that she knew he would come. Ares apologize for their fight and promise that he will never let that happen again. Lene also apologize and join the Liberation army.
If they reach enough love points together they will wed. The liberation army finally defeat Julius and Seliph became the king of Grannvale. Ares return to Augustria and became it's king. If Lene is his lover she follow him and became the queen.

Arene is relatively popular for a ship from a Japan only game. It's is the most popular het ship for both character. It can be explained by the fact that Ares and Lene interact in the main story, the fact that Lene and Ares have a hight base love points together and that the main het rival pairings (Lene x Seliph, Ares x Nanna and Arelea) are not popular for different reasons. On A03 Arene is the 10th most popular pairing in the Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War fandom and the 2th involving characters of the second generation.
