Arlerric is the slash ship between Arlen and Merric from the Fire Emblem fandom.
Canon[]
War of Shadow[]
Arlen was a student at the School of Khadein were he learned magic under the mage Wendell. Merric is an Altean noble and moved to Khadein to become Wendell's second student. Arlen didn't had any friends and at first when Merric wanted to befriend him Arlen stayed distand but they eventually became friends. When Wendell decided to give his powerful tome Excalibur to Merric, Arlen became jealous of his friend since to him, as the first apprentice, he was the one meant to inherits it. During the War of Shadow Merric joined the Altean army fighting the Dolhr empire alongside the prince of his kingdom Marth. What Arlen did during the War of Shadow is unknown. After the end of the War of Shadow, Merric returned to Khadein where he continued his magical studies.
War of Heroes[]
During the War of Heroes, Wendell left Khadein for a mission and entrusted the city to Merric and Arlen. Arlen then took the control of the city. The Altean kingdom was branded as traitorous by the Archanea Kingdom when its army approached Khadein Arlen sent troops against it. When the Altean army broke into the school, Arlen's hate for Merric exploded. Arlen decided to have a duel to death with Merric to see who was the worthy student. Merric refused to fight. Wendell speak to Arlen and explained to him that he was becoming like the dark mage Gharnef who choose a dark path out of jealousy because his master Gotoh entrusted the spell Aura to his other student. Arlen understood his wrongdoing and apologized. He then joins Marth's army alongside his former rival.
After the end of the War of Heroes, Merric returns to Altea where he marries Princess Elice and starts a magic school in the kingdom. Arlen became a high bishop of Khadein where he strived to restore the City of Magic. It's stated that Arlen's strict personality earned him he respect of his students.
Fanon[]
Arlerric is a rarepair even by the standards of the Archanea games. It's however Arlen's most popular ship and Merric's second most popular slash ship after Marthric . Its main rivals are Marric, Merrilice and LindeMerric. The main reasons behind the low popularity of the pairing can be explained by the fact that the games were Arlen first appeared--Mystery of the Emblem and New Mystery of the Emblem--were never released outside of Japan. However, Arlen also appears in Fire Emblem Heroes as a summonable Hero, along many others (including Merric).
Most fanworks take place before, in between, or after the games. Their teacher Wendell often makes a minor appearance. Fanfictions are often focused on Arlen's jealousy toward Merric and how his feelings toward his classmate shift.
