The final scene was as incredible as it was because you put so much effort into it.
—Asahi in reference to Tsukasa in A Sad Farewell at the Curtain Call Episode 7

Asakasa is the slash ship between Asahi Genbu and Tsukasa Tenma from the Project SEKAI fandom.

Canon[]

Asahi and Tsukasa are members of separate troupes from separate organisations. Before their first encounter in the "A Sad Farewell at the End of The Curtain Call" event, both were aware of one another's accomplishments and admired their work. Namely, the play performed by Wonderlands x Showtime in the "Wonder Magical Showtime" event would leave a deep impression on Asahi. The two of them find one another's work impressive, and only wish to learn more from each other.

A Sad Farewell at the Curtain Call[]

During the event, the two meet due to a collaboration between Phoenix Wonderland, Tsukasa and his troupe's workplace, and Tokyo ArcLand, Asahi and the Center Theatre's. Upon their first face-to-face meeting in Episode 2, "Genbu Asahi", Asahi and Tsukasa get into a staring match, in disbelief of being before the other. Asahi is the first to speak, excitedly speaking about meeting the troupe to his own. He proposes shaking Tsukasa's hand, all the while calling him by his role in Wonder Magical Showtime, "Miles".

During Episode 3, "The Two Leads", Tsukasa and Asahi are assigned the roles of the lead and secondary lead of the play "The Two Androids", Alfred and Bartlett. Asahi comments on how honoured he is to play the role alongside Tsukasa, still addressed as "Miles". During the table read within the same episode, Asahi prioritises enhancing Tsukasa's performance, requesting Rui to allow him and Tsukasa to go through opening together once more. Tsukasa uses his performance as a reference for improving his own, thanking Asahi for the assistance. He soon begins to look at himself in comparison to Asahi's skill level.

In Episode 4, "Let Us Be Friends!", Asahi provides Tsukasa with a technique to use in playing Bartlett, emphasising words as if reciting the vowels. Rui later considers Tsukasa having been doubting himself due to the skill level of ArcLand’s actors, but is reassured by the sight of the two practicing together. When Asahi re-enacts the scene of the lab’s destruction, Tsukasa silently takes apart how he put the scene together. He mutters about his talent, wishing to improve to such a level. Asahi's discussion of his past at the diner during the latter segment of the episode reveals to Tsukasa how he'd managed to produce the effect of a real battlefield, visibly saddening him.

In Episode 5, "Unexpected Words", when Asahi is inevitably assigned the role of Alfred, Tsukasa considers it rightful, dubbing him "perfect in every aspect." He tells Asahi he looks forward to seeing his interpretation of Alfred, and the two vow to do their best with the play’s finale together. After practice, Asahi, Tsukasa and Rui leave to purchase flower confetti for said finale.

Asahi and Tsukasa reminisce on the past month's impact on them, yet Tsukasa is lead into doubt once more, beginning to worry about the final performance due to the scene's moving and dramatic nature. Asahi tells him that he's done enough, as the two of them had worked together, alongside him requesting everyone present at the collab to provide him advice. He considers it to be Tsukasa having done all he could, and tells him to have more confidence in himself. Tsukasa is quick to leave in order to take Rui's advice, Asahi bidding him farewell.

In Episode 6, "Our Final Ambassadorial Show", the cast of Wonderlands x Showtime and Center Theatre clear the public performance. Asahi, rather than expressing his feelings on the show as whole, speaks on Tsukasa's improvement. He insists the finale went so well due to Tsukasa's effort, with the praise shocking Tsukasa, him excitedly thanking Asahi in response. The two briefly grieve over this perhaps being their final interaction, yet thank each other for the collective enjoyment of the past month working together.

In Episode 8, Rui tells Tsukasa he can tell Asahi has taught him a lot in the midst of the him speaking about the collab from a general point. Tsukasa celebrates this, noting having felt changes in his skill and ability since having worked with Asahi.

In the first side story of Tsukasa's "A Rush Of Excitement" card, the shopping trip for the flower confetti is focused on more. Asahi had requested to accompany Rui to purchase notepads, to which Tsukasa mentions the fact that he carried them around as well. Asahi recommends the brand he typically uses to Tsukasa, the conversation transitioning into a discussion of what Asahi did with his notepad. Tsukasa finds his dedication admirable, briefly mentioning how insightful these conversations always are. He wishes to thank Asahi and the ArcLand cast, yet Asahi tells him he's done enough. He describes Tsukasa as a lead with "wonderful aura," and "incredible acting range." Tsukasa briefly states to have been taking more notes during practice after the collaboration with ArcLand.

To the Gleaming Stars Halfway Through a Dream[]

In Tsukasa's "Never Give Up" card's first side story, he thanks Asahi for recommending the workshop to him through text. Asahi warns him of the director’s intensity, yet has faith in him being able to take it due to him having regularly worked with Rui. When attending the workshop during this side story, Tsukasa has the director break into laugher as he explains he and Rui's status at their school, and he tells him that he understands why Asahi recommended the place to him.

Deep Dark For Light[]

During the event, Asahi participates in the ArcLand hosted show contest as part of the young actors at ArcLand. He calls WonderlandsxShowtime to propose joint rehearsals between the troupes during practice, and they begin to work together. After working together, they split to do their own performances. Asahi catches WonderlandsxShowtime practicing and notes their improvement, and asks about who they've been training with. He states that he's also met Daigo and Reki, and Tsukasa asks if he can see how Asahi would perform his role.

Asahi briefly plays the role of Prince Bless, who has fallen into despair. He understands how to portray the feeling of hopelessness through his lived experience with real warfare. The rest of WonderlandsxShowtime is amazed at how empty his character and acting looks, and Asahi explains that it depends on how convincingly you can portray that final descent. Asahi tells Tsukasa to try to imagine a situation that would make him feel true despair, and that if he can ever help them, to say the word.

On the day of the show contest, he briefly meets with WonderlandsxShowtime to wish them good luck and expresses his excitement for their performance. He goes on stage alongside other young actors of ArcLand, and delivers a warmth in his acting, involving the audience. He watches WonderlandsxShowtime's play, and is stunned by Tsukasa's performance as Bless. When WonderlandsxShowtime turns to the audience to utilize them as encouragement for Bless to escape despair, Asahi is the first to rise up and cheer.

The ArcLand team wins the show contest, and Asahi is congratulated by Koryu. Asahi meets with Tsukasa after his meeting. He praises WonderlandsxShowtime's improvement, and tells Tsukasa that he finds his heart racing and mind wondering thanks to Tsukasa's performance. Tsukasa tells him that he understands, as he also views Asahi in a similar light. The two tell each other to do their best. Tsukasa tells Asahi that he'll keep going forward with his friends, and Asahi thinks about the word friends.

Fanon[]

Asakasa stands as a rarepair within the fandom space with very minimal coverage, due to the former of the two being a side character with a singular event story feature.

In terms of rivalry, Tsukasa's ships with Wonderlands x Showtime (RuiKasa in particular) on his end, and Asarui on Asahi's, are to be listed.

In fandom discussion, the idea of Asahi's statement in episode seven of "A Sad Farewell at the Curtain Call" having been romantically charged due to choice of wording has been occasionally touched on.

Trivia[]

  • Asahi's statement on the finale being enjoyable to watch has the direct translation addressing him as "the Miles I fell in love with" due to use of the verb "horeta (惚れた)". This line is changed in the English edition of the event, him instead stating "That's Miles for you!".
  • Nene would often liken Asahi's instances of louder speech to Tsukasa's overbearing voice during A Sad Farewell at the Curtain Call.
