Asrid is the non-binary ship between Asriel Dreemurr and Monster Kid from the Undertale fandom.

Canon

Asriel and Monster Kid are two of the more notable monster children the human gets to meet during their journey. However, since Asriel had been dead for at least a decade by the time the human meets Monster Kid, making any meeting between them unlikely.

The only time they could've canonically met is when Monster Kid is shown helping the human in the final battle against Flowey. This confirms that Monster Kid was in the front lines when Flowey started absorbing the souls of the entire Underground in order to restore his original form: Asriel Dreemurr. The fight against Asriel confirms that all the souls he absorbed are stored inside his body as "Lost Souls", conscious enough to attack the human, but having forgotten the things the human had taught them and needing to be reminded to strip Asriel of his power over them. Though Monster Kid is not encountered during that fight, there's nothing confirming that they hadn't become a Lost Soul as well. However, when Asriel is defeated, none of the monsters he absorbed could clearly remember what happened and though Asriel is still around as himself, he willingly stayed behind when destroying the border keeping the monsters trapped underground. Though this allowed for the monsters to venture back to the surface they came from, Asriel could not join them else he will revert to a soulless flower again, meaning that Monster Kid could only meet Asriel as his real self if they bothered to check for him in the Ruins.

Besides that, Monster Kid is drawn to the human because they assume that all children wear striped shirts, which Asriel also happened to wear when he was alive. Judging by the sizes of their sprites in comparison to the human's, they are roughly the same height, implying that Asriel was the same age as Monster Kid is now when he died.

Fanon

Asrid is a rarepair, largely because they never actually get to interact in full in the original game. It is still one of the more notable romantic ships for Monster Kid and Asriel to a lesser extent. Though having Monster Kid meet the shade of Asriel in the Ruins is one way of having them meet, people dislike the idea that Monster Kid has to remain underground just for the ship to work out in-canon. Thus, it is mostly shipped in AUs or other fanon scenarios where Asriel's death in the game's backstory is either retconned or undone completely. Though it is implied that quite a few years have passed between Asriel's death and the actual start of the game's story, many pieces of fanwork depict Asriel as his kid self, either through his resurrection keeping him the same age or scenarios where Monster Kid was around when Asriel was alive.

Most commonly, Asriel and Monster Kid were introduced to each other through Frisk, who should've already befriended Monster Kid before properly meeting Asriel. Oftentimes, Chara is also around in some of the better endings and depicted as a fourth kid in their friend group since they're the only known children in the Underground. Thus, a common side-ship for Asrid is Charisk, with half of the Asrid fanfics on AO3 doubling as Charisk fanfics. Besides the general headcanons of grouping the four kids in 2-by-2, the two ships tend to go together due to some shippers preferring human/human and monster/monster ships over human/monster ships.

Though both characters appear in Deltarune, the ship is completely unheard of on that side of the shared fandom, since Asriel is canonically old enough to go to college, while Monster Kid is depicted as a high schooler.
