Canon

The Beast of Gévaudan Arc

Their encounter in Gévaudan is not warm, and Vanitas clashes with Astolfo throughout the series. Vanitas fights Roland, who then searches for information and discovers that Astolfo is the youngest Paladin. Vanitas warns him of Astolfo's dangers and begins planning his defeat.

Vanitas mocks and insults Astolfo's father, taunting him that he is not as good as Roland and that he looks like a cute little girl, so he must be too weak to fight anyone. This makes Astolfo angry at him and he fights Vanitas. He still doesn't stop mocking Astolfo, purposely saying that he used his noble position to buy the position of Paladin. Astolfo is furious and tells him not to look down on his father.

However, their fight is interrupted, and chaos ensues. When the Charlatan procession arrives, Astolfo is affected by the curse and attacks the unconscious Jeanne. Vanitas, hearing her screams, steps in to protect her and drives Astolfo away, injuring and poisoning him. He also expresses his frustration at Astolfo for attacking his Jeanne. Vanitas then holds the book to restore everything to normal, but someone throws a knife at the chains holding the book, shattering it. The book's power causes them to be warped to different locations.

In the fight, Vanitas asks Noe to take care of Astolfo and tells him to punch the boy in the face, and he blames him for getting too close to Jeanne and for hurting her. He fights Astolfo with Noé. But even though Astolfo did not give up, he was ultimately defeated in this battle.

Amusement Park Arc

Vanitas heard Noe's story and attitude towards Astolfo, so he listened to his friend talk about it quietly.

Bonus content

Special Edition: Sister Astolfo's confessional counseling office (Vol.11 SP)

Altosfo opens the confessional, dressed as the Sisters, and he listens to Vanitas's concerns about his relationship with Jeanne, who seems to be more open to Astolfo than Olivier's version. Vanitas is deeply distrustful of him.

Drama CD Koi wa☆LOVE Mission! Spin-off! ~Shiratori Astolfo no Yūutsu~

Astolfo, unaware that Vanitas is cross-dressing, misunderstands that Vanitas is in a romantic relationship with Tanaka Roland, a teacher at school who is a personal acquaintance of Astolfo. The boy, who is a member of the student council, feels uncomfortable and feels that it is inappropriate, so he goes to ask Vanitas directly in the classroom, which makes Jeanne, who is flirting with Vanitas in front of Noe, feel irritated and jealous. Vanitas makes an excuse to Jeanne, saying that he does not have that kind of relationship with the teacher. After that, he is arrested and interrogated to find out the truth.

Vanitas denies the accusations, but fortunately Roland intervenes to clear the situation, saving him from the strange rumors.

AstoVani in the story, they are enemies and have a bad relationship between them. Sometimes they are senpai and kouhai, having a funny relationship. Vanitas teases Astolfo in the storyboard, and he gets annoyed with Astolfo for hurting Jeanne, and he still asks him for love advice about Jeanne in the OMAKE. (Vol.11 SP)

Although the main storyline of their relationship is bad because Vanitas makes fun of Astolfo's father, this content is heavily criticized by fans, even though Vanitas did it as a battle strategy to defeat the enemy.

But some people ship them romantically in A3o fanfics, but they are still less popular romantically than VaniJeanne. Mostly Some fans and Jun Mochizuki prefer their relationship as Platonic and friends.
