AtsuGin is the het ship between Atsushi Nakajima and Gin Akutagawa from the Bungou Stray Dogs fandom.
Canon[]
Atsushi Nakajima and Gin Akutagawa first meet after Katai Tayama requests that Atsushi and Doppo Kunikida find the young woman who Katai is in love with.
During the Guild Aftermath Arc, Atsushi and Kunikida go to a broker who is also a former Armed Detective Agency member in order to look into the Moby Dick console. The two of them arrive at the broker's home, only to find him in a poor state. The broker's name is Katai Tayama, and he refused to help the agency look into the Moby Dick console until he found a mysterious young woman whom he loved in person. The person whom he loved is a beautiful young woman, whom he took a picture of and described as "Yamato Nadeshiko." After looking at the photo, Atsushi thought and stated that the young woman is very pretty.
The day before Kunikida and Atsushi met Katai, Ichiyou Higuchi saw Ryuunosuke Akutagawa meeting up with the same young woman that Atsushi and Kunikida were looking for the day after. Jealous and infuriated, Higuchi plots to find the young woman and receive information on why she was with Akutagawa the day before.
The next day, while Higuchi is trying to find the beautiful young woman, she is found by Atsushi and Kunikida. Kunikida then interrogates Higuchi, to which she responds by asking them if they know the identity of the young woman in the photo that Atsushi was holding. Atsushi tells her that they don't know the identity of the young woman either, but that they're trying to deliver a love letter to her. Higuchi then mistakes Atsushi for having a crush on the young woman, along with mistaking him as being the one sending the love letter, thinking that he is "surprisingly bold." However, this leads her to realize that if Atsushi gives the young woman a love letter, then Akutagawa will supposedly break up with her, making Akutagawa available as her lover.
Higuchi then gives Atsushi her support and gives him advice on how to approach women in order to increase the chances of the young woman dating Atsushi. However, Katai interrupts the conversation and announces that he is the one who is delivering the letter, not Atsushi. The young woman then comes out of the dry cleaners, carrying Akutagawa's clothes. Atsushi points this out, causing Higuchi and Katai to chase after the young woman, eventually cornering her in a dead-end alleyway. In a panic, the young woman quickly tries to change her attire by tying her hair up and putting on a mask in a way that makes her recognizable to Higuchi. It is then revealed that the young woman was Akutagawa's younger sister, Gin Akutagawa. Atsushi, Higuchi, and Kunikida are surprised that the beautiful young woman is Gin Akutagawa, causing Atsushi to say in a surprised tone that she's Akutagawa's little sister. Katai then gives his love letter to Gin, only for her to reject him.
Despite Gin being Akutagawa's sister, who is therefore associated with Atsushi's biggest rival and enemy, Atsushi doesn't show or have any negative feelings towards Gin in both the canon universe and the BEAST universe. The same can be said for Gin, who doesn't show or have any negative feelings towards Atsushi, despite him being her brother's enemy and rival.
Manga[]
The events that occurred in the anime between Atsushi and Gin occur very similarly in the manga as well, but with a few exceptions. In the manga, Gin specifically explains to the group that the day before, she went to the dry cleaners to drop off her clothes and eventually met up with her brother. The background setting also differs from the anime, in which Katai gives Gin his love letter to her at a water fountain, but in the manga, he gives his love letter to her at a chair by a tree.
BEAST Universe[]
Atsushi and Gin refer to each other with the honorific "San" in the BEAST alternate universe, as both of them are professional coworkers and acquaintances in the BEAST universe. However, it is currently unknown how they refer to each other in the canon universe.
Gin saves Atsushi from her brother's violence twice, the first time by stabbing him before he can lethally injure Atsushi, as she says it was the necessary thing to do to save Atsushi-san, and the second time by telling her brother through a microphone to stop his violent acts; otherwise, he would've killed Atsushi.
Bungou Stray Dogs WAN! (Anime)[]
In season 1, episode 2 of the Bungou Stray Dogs WAN! anime, Atsushi, Gin, and Kyouka Izumi are seen spending time together while eating at a group picnic. Kyouka decides to share her food with Gin as well, to which Gin responds and feels that Kyouka's cooking is delicious. Kyouka was very happy in response to Gin complimenting her cooking, and Atsushi was very happy during their picnic together. Gin then tells Hirotsu Ryuurou to try Kyouka's cooking, which he then finds delicious as well. This scene, however, only occurred in the anime version of WAN!, as Gin doesn't make an appearance in the manga version of the episode.
Bungou Stray Dogs WAN! (Manga)[]
In the Bungou Stray Dogs WAN! manga, Atsushi and Gin are seen playing soccer together on different teams in one panel in chapter 106 of the manga. In volume 10, chapter 144 of the manga, Akutagawa consistently keeps on receiving candy as his game "prize," even though he doesn't want candy, as he doesn't consume sweets. Later, Atsushi brings a ticket to the same game Akutagawa was playing and receives a magazine as his game "prize." Even though Atsushi had no desire for the magazine he won, Akutagawa became jealous of Atsushi's prize, to which Atsushi responded by telling Akutagawa that candy is a better game prize than the magazine he won. Akutagawa is still jealous of Atsushi's prize and decides to play another round, only to receive candy yet again. Later, Gin meets up with her brother, Akutagawa, and asks about what he is holding. Akutagawa then tells her that he's carrying around candy that's popular among girls due to its many different colors. Gin then asks Akutagawa if she can have the candy, which he then gives her. Gin's eyes then immediately light up after receiving Akutagawa's winning rainbow candy prize, to which she then asks Akutagawa why he has so much candy. While Gin and Akutagawa are conversing with each other, Atsushi smiles, happy for Gin that she likes the gift. It is implied that Atsushi suggested to Akutagawa after his last round of winning his game "prize" that he should give his candy to his sister Gin as a gift and that he's happy for her happiness and wellbeing. It's unknown why he stayed out of sight of the two siblings, but it can be inferred that since Akutagawa and Atsushi are enemies, Akutagawa doesn't want Atsushi to be around his sister Gin, and as a result, Atsushi stays out of sight of Gin.
In chapter 169 of WAN!, Gin is seen slightly blushing when positively describing a mystery character as "a very cool, very powerful ability-user", along with the light reflection in her eyes becoming particularly larger in this panel. The mystery person who she describes was later revealed in the chapter to be Atsushi. However, in this chapter, the light reflection in her eyes are visible throughout all of her appearances in chapter 169 of WAN!

Fanon[]
AtsuGin is considered a rare pair within the Bungou Stray Dogs fandom, as the two have had very few interactions with each other. Despite their few interactions and being therefore considered a rare pair, AtsuGin is considered one of the few rare pairs and ships in the Bungou Stray Dogs fandom that has a chance of becoming canon, mostly due to the interactions they did have, which were wholesome. Some speculate that they will have more interactions in the future as a result of Gin's older brother's (Akutagawa) current status.
Fans of the ship suspect that if they do have more interactions with each other in the future, it will revolve around Atsushi saving Gin from the darkness of the Port Mafia, similar to how Atsushi saved Kyouka from the darkness of the Port Mafia and how Atsushi helped Lucy make the moral decision by helping the agency, which would parallel both interactions between Atsushi. Furthermore, when Higuchi mistakingly thought that Atsushi had a crush on Gin, Atsushi didn't correct Higuchi's misunderstanding of who was sending the love letter, allowing for audience interpretation on whether he doesn't mind ending up with Gin romantically. Moreover, it's also speculated among fans of the ship in a jokingly way that Higuchi pairing Atsushi with Gin will foreshadow that Gin really does end up with Atsushi after all; however, the chances of Higuchi actually foreshadowing their possible future relationship are rather unlikely as of now, for different reasons. The pairing also has many different parallels of each other in different panels of the BEAST manga. Its rival ships are TachiGin, HiguGin, Shin Soukoku, AtsuLucy, and AtsuKyou.

Trivia[]
- Atsushi is taller than Gin by around 8 centimeters, as Atsushi is 170 centimeters tall (5'7"), and Gin is around 162 centimeters tall (5'3").
- As implied by the BEAST light novel, both Atsushi and Gin are in their late teens at eighteen years old. However, Gin is older than Atsushi by three months, as her birthday is on February 4th and Atsushi's birthday is on May 5th.
- In the official Bungou Stray Dogs: Tales of the Lost Mayoi mobile game, both of them have two matching Mayoi cards. In the Chocolat and Sweets scout, both Gin and Atsushi are sitting on their respective desserts while holding a human-sized utensil. Atsushi's card is strawberry cake-themed, while Gin's card is mint chocolate-themed. While Atsushi is sitting on a strawberry cake, Gin is sitting on top of a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream. In the Jiangshi scout, both of them are featured next to each other on the scout banner.
- Both Atsushi and Gin are orphans and grew up in poor, and often violent, conditions during their childhood. During Atsushi's childhood, he grew up in an abusive orphanage, and during Gin's childhood, she grew up in the slums of Yokohama.
- Gin is the only girl that Atsushi has ever stated as being beautiful, pretty, or attractive.
