Aunt Minnie is the family ship between Minnie Mouse, Millie Mouse, and Melody Mouse from the Mickey Mouse and Friends fandom.
Canon[]
Minnie Mouse was introduced in the animated short "Steamboat Willie" in 1928. The twin nieces of Minnie, Millie and Melody Mouse (among other names), first appeared in 1962 in the comic "The Late, Late Show." Minnie's nieces have varied in both name and number over the years and various media, usually appearing in print. The first animated appearance of any such character-or characters-was in 1983's Mickey's Christmas Carol. In this special, one-if not both-of Minnie's nieces takes on the role of a daughter in the Cratchit family, with her-or their-aunt Minnie playing the role of Mrs. Cratchit.
Millie and Melody would later appear side by side beginning in animation in the 2010s. In the shorts series Minnie's Bow-Toons, the pair would make frequent guest appearances visiting their Aunt Minnie. Though they would endeavor to be helpful, the pair would often cause more than a few problems for their aunt and her friends. Such a pattern would continue in the series Mickey and the Roadster Racers, in which Millie and Melody often spend time with Minnie and her fellow Happy Helpers and often try to assist the adults.
The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse special "Minnie's Winter Bow Show" would see the pair visit Minnie as she prepared for the titular event. Unfortunately, Minnie's preparations caused her to forget that she had planned to spend time with her nieces. Though briefly stunned by this revelation, the girls eagerly offer to assist Minnie in her preparations after she offers to honor their previous arrangement after the show. Minnie accepts and asks them to wait for her to think of a task for them; unfortunately, the pair end up getting involved without her bidding and end up making a mess of things. Feeling terrible for "ruining" their aunt's event, Millie and Melody decide to leave.
Upon finding her nieces gone, Minnie sets off after them, aided by Quoodles. Aunt and nieces all end up accidentally floating away in the Clubhouse's Glove Balloon. They soon begin discussing the matter, and Minnie assures Millie and Melody that she doesn't blame them for the problems they inadvertently caused. She also expresses a desire to have them help her fix things, and she notes that the event wouldn't be all that it could be without them present. The girls are touched by this sentiment, but the three soon find themselves being carried away by a gust of wind.
Despite the predicament, the trio find themselves enjoying the ride together, even breaking into song. They're ultimately carried to the Clubhouse North Pole, where the girls become distracted while Minnie is trying to figure out a means of getting them home. After some brief fun in the snow, and the Glove Balloon blowing away without them, the trio hit upon the idea of sledding down the mountain atop which the pole is located. The trio then meet Snow Fairy Clarabelle, whom they help out of a jam despite the urgency of getting Minnie back in time for her show. Fortunately, the Snow Fairy reciprocates their kindness by allowing the three to make use of her sleigh to continue their journey home.
During the trip, the three encounter snow flowers, which Minnie reluctantly agrees to stop and pick at Millie's suggestion. The trio end up lost and unable to find their way back to the sleigh, but Millie suggests listening for the bells of the reindeer that pull it. Her plan works, and it's not long before Minnie and the girls run into a family of yetis. The three end up saving a baby yeti from the icy surface of a lake by skating, and Minnie has so much fun with her nieces that it falls to them to urge her to hurry back home for the Winter Bow Show. Later, when they seem doomed not to arrive back in time, the girls apologize for the mess, but Minnie apologizes for forgetting her own promise to spend time with the girls.
Fortunately, a magical snowflake gifted to the trio by Snow Fairy Clarabelle gives them the means to continue on, much to the relief of Millie and Melody who know how much the event means to their aunt. The Snow Fairy also puts in another appearance to give the trio some added speed, and they arrive back just in time to help complete preparations for the Winter Bow Show. Not only that, but various items they've collected along the way help them to make the perfect decorations to go along with the event. The Bow Show proves to be a smashing success, and Minnie thanks the girls for the part they played in bringing it about.
Fanon[]
Millie and Melody have largely been absent from animation for several of the decades since their creation, only recently appearing on television in significant and distinct roles. As such, they appear in few fan works, and even fewer of these emphasize their relationship with Minnie. It is somewhat more common to see all three as part of a larger ensemble.
