BabsAce is the friendship between Barbara Gordon and Ace the Bat-Hound from the DC Super Hero Girls fandom.

Canon

In both versions of the DCSHG series, Ace is portrayed as Barbara's pet dog than Batman's. With Babs being the main focused Batfamily member in both gens, just as Kara was featured as the main Kryptonian hero of the Super Hero Girls and has been portrayed as the owner of Krypto the Superdog in her cousin's place. Despite this small change, both versions of DCSHG Ace still have him acting like he was owned by Batman than Batgirl. The 2015 series as Ace as a Great Dane while the 2019 version have Bat-Hound as a German Shepherd, which are two of the types of dogs Ace has been portrayed as in other DC universes.

Barbara has had a few rare interactions with Ace within the DC comics, but Ace being Bruce's dog and both Babs and Bruce having busy day and night-time lives was what kept their interactions with one another limited. Along with the fact that the New Earth series has her sharing the dog Dick adopted before they got married.

2015

Barbara and her father adopt Ace into their family in "Gone to the Dogs." Despite the short time she has had him for, Babs had already grown to love her new dog very much. Which is why she felt that she was going to miss him, since pets weren't allowed on school grounds. This is what got her and Kara to arrange a playdate for their dogs, so Ace would have a friend to spend the day with while she is in school. Even though Ace wasn't happy with that idea the moment he met Krypto and preferred to play while training with Babs when class ended. Along with him wanting to help Batgirl in a theft case than to be locked in her bat bunker with Krypto. Once the screens in Batgirl's bunk revealed who the thief is, while Babs and Kara are looking for a human thief, Ace decides to escape the bunk with Krypto so they can catch the cat thief for them. Despite losing the thief to Catwoman, Ace was still able to bring her the stolen items they were looking for. This led to Ace and the other student's super pets to be welcomed on campus, so they too can be tried to be heroes as well. To help Ace entertain himself while she is in class, Babs set up a tennis ball throwing machine to help Ace keep his skills up.

When it came to training Ace to work with the other Super Pets, however, Batgirl was having trouble and was forced to use her grapple him to stop the Bat-Hound from cashing Katana's pet fox. If the girls can't get their pets to work together they'll the class, and the pets might lose their place at the school. Luckily Ace was able to work with the other pets when Batgirl and her friends got captured, while their pets come to their rescue. Batgirl gives Ace hug for a job well done and was glad that he and the other Super Pets were able to band together when it mattered most.

Batgirl enters Ace in a pet show with the others to showcase how well they trained them. Before they entered the building Batgirl learns that Krypto and Roz were missing, and assumed that it was the work of someone who wants to win by getting of the competition. Beast Boy posed himself as a green poodle to weed out the culprit, while Batgirl and Ace focus on doing well in the show. Ace exiled at the challenge that showcases his agility and wins a prise. After Ace and the other pets were animalnapped by Artemis of the Female Furies, Batgirl and the others go to rescue them. Only to have Ace and the other pets save themselves before their owners caught up to them. Batgirl hugs Ace for being happy to have him back and that he is safe.

2019

Ace was originally part of Gotham's Canine unit, before retiring and gets adopted by the Gordon family, who have moved to Metropolis at the beginning of the series. Babs fell in love with her father's retried police dog and being a Batman fangirl has her nicknaming him "Ace the Bat-Hound." She was also impressed with how Ace was the top of his class, is obedient and has amazing agility skills like her. Making him the ideal pet for someone who wants to impress Batman. Even though Babs is cheery while Ace is stoic, he still enjoys a good game of fetch with her. Ace being to help women deliver their babies when they can't get to the hospital in time, was what also impressed her and began to keep track on the number of the delivers Ace has helped with.

When Barbara introduced her new dog to Kara, who also shows Babs her superpowered dog, she didn't like the way Kara viewed Ace from not having powers like Krypto. To prove that Ace's skills can outdo Krypto's powers, Babs enters Ace into a dog show. Ace excelled with the tasks that displayed his obeisance to follow through in the orders given to him, as well as to showcase the skills Babs is proud of him of. She later gives Ace a Batman cowl and utility caller for one of the "best looking dog" task in the show. Making him look more like a bat-hound.

Even though Barbara has had a few rare interactions with Ace in the DC comics [1], fans tend to focus on their DCSHG counterparts. From how both versions of the series have Babs as Ace's owner instead of Bruce. Along with the gen1 version showcasing how close she is with Ace; from the times he has saved or assisted her beside the other super pets that belong to Batgirl's friends. There have been rare occasions when fans have featured the two as their comic counterparts in their fanart of them. BabsAce, however, tends to be overshadowed by BruAce.
