BabsCass is the friendship between Barbara "Babs" Gordon and Cassandra "Cass" Cain from the DC Comics and Young Justice fandoms.
Canon[]
Cassandra and Barbara have a mentor-student relationship, which is also akin to a mother-daughter bond. When Cassandra had trouble with Bruce at first due to their conflicting ideas, it was Barbara she would always confide in. Barbara would listen Cassandra, give her advice, and help her understand her path as well as her relationship with Batman. Cassandra would openly admit at one point that Barbara is like a mother to her, because Barbara was Cassandra's first step to gaining some form of normal famililal relationships.
Young Justice: Phantoms[]
Cassandra was sent on a mission to kill the Joker, who was attempting to blow up the United Nations. Barbara and the rest of the Batfamily were there as well, defusing the bombs in the room. Joker makes his escape, and Barbara follows, only to see Cassandra following. Cassandra goes to kill Joker, but Barbara steps in front of him, taking the blade. Her back is sliced and she becomes injured and eventually paralyzed. Cassandra is horrified and goes to Barbara's side, who says that she didn't do it to save Joker. She did it to save Cassandra.
A few years later, Cassandra has joined the Batfamily and gets kidnapped by her birth mother. Barbara immediately works as Oracle with Artemis to track down Cassandra, whom she describes Cass as a sister to her. Artemis eventually gets Cassandra back to Gotham, and the two girls reunite with a hug.

There is a fairly amount of love for Cassandra and Barbara's relationship. Many fans enjoy how Barbara was a mentor to Cassandra and gave her her blessing to be Batgirl, although it gets rather controversial as some debate whether or not they had a good relationship in their early years. Many fans wish they had more one on one interaction some more as although Barbara worked as Oracle to every member of the Batfamily, it didn't happen with Cassandra as often. Fror some years, their relationship wasn't often explored any more either, leaving many fans missing the two. Fortunately, their relationship is getting more explored in the Batgirls comic series and Batman: Wayne Family Adventures webcomic series.
Fans of their comic relationship tend to have mixed feelings on their relationship in the Young Justice series, as many fans didn't like that Cassandra was used to paralyze Barbara, and consider it just as bad as her paralyzation in The Killing Joke, especially as for many it becomes a detriment to Cassandra as a character, because having an Asian girl become the cause of pain for a white woman felt racist to many.
