Baekjin & Hakho is the friendship between Na Baekjin and Ji Hakho from the Weak Hero fandom.

Canon[]

Donald Na (Na Baekjin in the Korean version) is the head of Yeo-Il High School and the leader of the Yeongdeungpo Union. Jake Ji (Ji Hakho) is the head of Daehyeon High School.

Chapter 62
During a meeting among the Union executives, Donald puts Daehyeon in charge of Yoosun and Ganghak in charge of Hyeongshin. Right after the meeting ends, Jake immediately disobeys Donald's orders and tells Jimmy Bae (Bae Jihun in the Korean version) that he doesn't have to report to him to give him the data.

Chapter 87
Jared Sun (Seon Jongwon in the Korean version) mentions to Wolf Keum (Keum Seongje in the Korean version) that Jake is slow and takes forever to do what Donald tells him to do.

Chapter 102
One year ago, Kingsley Kwan (Kwon Seokhyeon in the Korean version) approaches Jake Ji and Dean Kwon (Kwon Hyukjin in the Korean version) at Daehyeon Middle School. Kingsley tells Jake that Donald Na wants to talk and says to move to a different location. Jake refuses and tells him that Donald should come to him if he wants to talk. When Kingsley asks if Jake can handle the consequences, Jake threatens him. Donald steps in and introduces himself to Jake and Dean.

After Jake's older brother, Kenny Ji (Ji Gwangseok in the Korean version), is beaten up and hospitalized by Manwol, Jake intends to confront them alone. Dean refuses to let him go alone and says if Jake fights to the death, so will he. Jake thinks it's too dangerous to drag Dean into the mess and remembers Donald's offer.

Chapter 103
Continuing from Chapter 102, Donald is in the middle of beating up Ben Park (Park Humin in the Korean version) and Alex Go (Go Hyeontak in the Korean version) when he receives a phone call from Kingsley, informing him that Jake is at Yeouinaru to see him. Donald arrives and Jake says he'll join the Union if he crushes Manwol for him. Donald agrees, but changes the order so Jake joins the Union first. Donald doesn't want to get involved without a valid reason, and it'll discourage Manwol from retaliating.

Donald welcomes Jake into the fucked up family. Jake feels something that he had never felt before from the tips of Donald's fingers. He feels overpowered. Later, the Union strikes Manwol and beats them. Donald leaves the leader, Changyeon Lee, to Jake.

In the present day, Donald ponders over Wolf's loss. There aren't a lot of people who could take him down and only considers Jake, Ben, and Myles Joo (Joo Seungjin in the Korean version) as the people who could possibly defeat Wolf. Jake arrives and Donald asks about Kenny. Jake informs him that the reoperation went well and he'll be discharged soon. He tells Donald to cut to the chase so Donald orders him to take down Ben. Jake agrees without asking the reason because he owes the Union and has to pay Donald back.

Chapter 153
Donald receives a call from Jake and answers it. Jake says he’s at Daegwang and that Mr. Song is saying some weird things. Donald tells Jake to put Mr. Song on the phone. A flashback reveals that Yongbae Jo, the head of Magyeong Construction, had stolen the bidding contracts from Mr. Song. The flashback ends. Mr. Song tells Donald that the Union is supposed to look out for their companies, otherwise they can’t get their jobs done.

Chapter 154
Jake leaves Daegwang and asks Donald what he should do. Donald tells him to set things right and go to Mapo sometime within the week.

Chapter 161
Donald is leaving his office with Kingsley, having received the files from Jake earlier. Donald recalls Jake telling him that he thought it’d be too much to handle alone so he had Wolf go with him, but Donald knows that Wolf wouldn’t have gotten himself involved just because Jake told him to. However, Donald doesn't call Jake out nor does he punish him for the lie.

Chapter 231
Jimmy tries to follow Donald’s orders and give the files to Jake, who wants to relax for a bit and is unconcerned about the businesses. Instead, Jake wants to play basketball with Jimmy, who refuses. Jake asks him what he'll do once the Union is over, but Jimmy doesn't think Donald will lose. Jake reminds him how the two of them both lost to Ben, and how Juwon also lost to him.

Chapter 255
After Donald defeats both Ben Park and Gray Yeon (Yeon Sieun in the Korean version) thus solidifying the Union's victory of Eunjang, Donald declares the disbandment of the Union and says all actions, before he gives the okay, will be halted for as long as possible. Jake tells Dean to leave first and stays with Donald and Kingsley. Donald tells Kingsley to take care of all the money they had planned for distribution for any events without a single exception.

A flashback shows Donald telling Jake that it’s ending and once it ends, for Jake to feel free to stop by. He says to calculate Daehyeon’s debts and to take whatever’s left for himself. Jake tells Donald to send that to Dean for him. Donald tells Kingsley to do as Jake wants. The flashback ends.

Donald tells Jake to get going because he wants to be alone now, and to think of it as a vacation since Donald also has some things he wants to think about. Jake agrees and says he’ll be waiting for Donald’s call. Jake tells Kingsley to not take everything at face value and try to look at everything deeper. Jake is sure that Donald himself has realized that he had been waiting for someone to stop him.

Kingsley points out how Jake also let Donald be. He says Donald will want to stop when he cannot get any more powerful and it isn’t the end. He mentions that Donald won’t be able to stop himself because they’ve already gone too far. Jake thinks that Kingsley is saying there isn’t anyone strong enough to stop Donald anymore; however, Jake believes that no matter how long it takes, Gray and Ben will definitely beat Donald.

Chapter 264
At Donald's funeral, Jake tells Ben that Donald probably didn't think of this outcome because no human would calculate when they will die. Jake says while it may be hard for Eunjang to understand, Donald had been the dictator of Yeongdeungpo as well as a huge wall.

Chapter 265
Jimmy doesn’t understand why Jake is gloomy at Donald’s funeral. Jake and Kingsley are standing in front of Donald's and Sua’s urns. Jake asks Kingsley what he’s going to do, and Kingsley says the ending Donald wanted wasn’t this. He wants to maintain the Union for at least Donald’s memories, but Jake reminds him how Donald had disbanded the Union. Kingsley says that was his emotional choice but the Union is Donald himself, so it’s only right to continue it. Jake says that Donald wanted to eventually stop from the very beginning. Kingsley begins to cry again as he says that Donald didn’t want to stop like this.

Chapter 267
Jake tells Dean that he’s going to be away for the time being. Dean asks if Jake has made up his mind and if Kingsley has agreed. Jake says it’s something that he had talked about with Donald last time. Jake mentions that Kingsley still can’t let go of Donald and is still digging up info about the day Donald died. Dean says that even if he does that, it won’t bring a dead person back to life, so there’s no point.

Jake says he always thought he was helping Donald, but now that he thinks about it, while he had been under Donald’s influence, Jake doesn’t remember ever once losing himself like he did in the past. It had only been possible because Donald had a firm hold on him at the top and it had been Jake who had actually been receiving help. Jake says that’s why, if Kingsley ever needs help, he plans on coming back when called. He says there will come a day when Kingsley will understand Donald, who did not know how to stop in his confusion and agony.

Fanon[]

When Donald created the Union, he wanted the Union to seem like an opportunity that doesn’t come by often. They need to make sure that the cases where people voluntarily going to the Union are publicly seen. However, Donald was the one who first approached Jake and invited him to join the Union. He had invited Jake to join numerous times but Jake declined all of them.

Even after Jake joined, Donald was lenient on Jake. He has the Naksung Fam do all of Daehyeon’s dirty work instead of leaving it to Jake and his friends. Jake owed the Union for helping to avenge his brother, yet Donald lets him off easy for the most part. Donald is able to keep a firm hold on Jake and prevent him from losing control.

Jake was also one of the few people who understood that Donald was exhausted and wanted to stop. He understood this more than Kingsley, who is Donald’s right-hand man and has known him longer than Jake.
