Baekjin & Seungjin is the friendship between Na Baekjin and Joo Seungjin from the Weak Hero fandom.
Canon[]
Donald Na (Na Baekjin in the Korean version) is the founder and leader of the Yeongdeungpo Union. Myles Joo (Joo Seungjin in the Korean version) is the former head of Hyeongshin High School, a former executive of the Union, and was part of Donald’s gang before the Union had been formed.
Chapter 39
Forrest Lee (Lee Sehan in the Korean version) tells Donald that all Myles did was act as a figurehead and that he was the one who was actually managing and maintaining Hyeongshin all along. Donald comments that Myles isn't really chill enough to not hold a grudge and mentions that he thought Myles would act delusional again and make a big scene. Forrest says that there isn't much someone who's excommunicated can do to make a big scene. Donald silently thinks that Myles, prior to being excommunicated, was competent
Chapter 40
Donald tells Forrest that if it were Myles in the situation where Hyeongshin had to deal with the aftermath of Jimmy losing to Eunjang, Myles would've at least reacted immediately with an action of his own. He says that Myles was so action-oriented that he was hard to calm down.
Chapter 130
Donald didn't think Myles would be that desperate and attack Hyeongshin to steal the money and files, and Kingsley Kwan (Kwon Seokhyeon in the Korean version) thinks it's time to take action by setting things straight with Hyeongshin and everything else that's been going on. He sends the Mok-Ha Duo to take down Myles and Manwol.
Chapter 134
Donald mentions that it may be uncomfortable for some Union members to deal with Manwol due to Myles being involved since he used to be a member of the Union.
Chapter 199
Myles attends the Union's kick-off meeting at Haedong Building.
Chapter 201
When Jimmy Bae (Bae Jihun in the Korean version) goes to Donald Na and asks for help, Donald calls Myles and sends him and the action squad to assist Jimmy with taking down Manwol's Squad 2.
Chapter 204
A flashback shows that at a previous Union assembly, Myles tells Donald that he’s not doing the Union’s shit anymore. Donald mentions that ever since Myles was demoted from second to third, he’s been having an attitude. He says when people stop following his orders, he has no more use for them. Donald brings up Myles’ secret deal with Mr. Jang, and Myles realizes that Forrest had snitched. Donald says he’s known about Myles’ antics but looked the other way because of his usefulness at Hyeongshin. He beats Myles up and the flashback ends.
Chapter 223
A flashback shows that after having gotten off from the initial betrayal with not so serious wounds, Myles still went back to Donald's office to confront him again. This time, Donald breaks Myles' thigh.
Chapters 255 and 256
After Donald has dismissed everyone and is now sitting all alone, he starts laughing and says he had expected Myles and Manwol to ambush him and calls them predictable. Myles and his gang are all wielding metal bats. Myles said it’s Donald's choice to end his life trying to look cool and asks why he sent his guys away. Donald smirks and says from now on, Myles will not be able to walk anymore.
Donald, despite his injured state, defeats Myles and all of Manwol. He says Myles knows better than anyone else what the path he had walked was like. A flashback shows Donald’s gang in its early years beating up high schoolers, breaking into cars to steal watches and jewelry, and already on Manwol’s radar. Myles has known Donald since the beginning and has beaten up a guy Donald has ordered him to. The flashback ends.
Donald says they’ll end Myles’ resentment there and doesn’t cripple Myles for old time’s sake. Donald leaves Myles with his unconscious members in Han River Park.
Chapter 261
In a flashback to Donald’s backstory, Myles and two people are breaking into a building while Donald gives instructions over the phone. They cut the CCTV lines and copy the hard drive. Later, Myles and two unnamed guys have beaten up Donald’s stepfather.
After Donald exposes his former teacher to the rest of the school and to his fiancée, Donald exits the elementary school and tells Myles to have the guys wait at the parking lot. Myles and his two guys beat the living shit out of Mr. Jeong and destroy his car. Myles mentions that Mr. Jeong’s family has a lot of dirt so Mr. Jeong shouldn’t do anything rash.
Chapter 263
Myles is seen with Donald as the Union continues to grow, defeat Manwol, and take over Yeongdeungpo. When Wolf is announced as the new member and executive of the Union, Myles is still the current head of Hyeongshin. Sometime later, Forrest snitches to Donald about Myles' secret deals with Manwol. At the next meeting, Donald beats up Myles and excommunicates him to show everyone that the only thing more important than money is the rules Donald had made; even founding members are no exceptions.
Fanon[]
Myles has known Donald the longest out of all the Union members. Myles has helped Donald with personal business such as hunting down and beating up his abusive stepfather and exposing his evil former homeroom teacher.
Donald has also shown mercy to Myles twice. The first time was after beating him up after revealing that Myles is a traitor making secret deals with Manwol. Despite Donald being someone who claimed to not show mercy to anyone, he didn’t leave Myles with any serious wounds and he was able to confront Donald again not long later. It is only during that second confrontation that Donald breaks Myles’ leg.
Donald again showed mercy to Myles after Myles and Manwol attacked him once he was badly wounded and exhausted from fighting Ben Park (Park Humin in the Korean version) and Gray Yeon (Yeon Sieun in the Korean version). Donald defeated all of them and although he initially said that he’d make Myles unable to walk, he let him off without breaking any bones for old time’s sake.
Some fans wished that we could have seen Myles’ reaction to Donald’s death, especially since he has known him the longest. Even Wolf Keum (Keum Seongje in the Korean version) who had also defected from the Union still showed up to Donald’s funeral (albeit staying outside) and paid his respects. Fans wonder if Myles would also have a similar feeling to Wolf or if he’d celebrate Donald’s death.
Some fans ship Donald and Myles romantically.
