Balabuds is the friendship between Jimbo and the Player from the Balatro fandom.

Jimbo is one of the first things a new player sees, a floating default Joker card that greets the player with a friendly "Hello there". He introduces himself and tells the player that he's here to teach them how to play. He goes through the basics of the game: earn Chips to defeat Blinds. He then directs the player's attention to the Small Blind, telling them that they only need to score 300 Chips to beat it. He then orders the player to select that Blind to start. When selected, he continues that Chips can be earned by playing Poker hands. He hints at each hand having a different base set of Chips, multiplied by some Mult. He then advices the player to click at the Run Info to check how each hand is played right now, also saying that there's other info about their current run. Once the player is done looking through the Run Info, Jimbo will tell them that playing cards can also earn them some Chips, telling them to select up to 5 cards and press the "Play Hand" button. He urges them to try discarding unwanted cards to try for stronger hands after the first hand played. Once the player does that, Jimbo urges them to be careful, as the amount of times "Play Hand" and "Discard" buttons can be pressed is limited. He lastly wishes them good luck to win 300 Chips to end the current round before disappearing again.
When the player wins, Jimbo will appear again to congratulate them and tell them to use their earned Cash to buy some new Jokers from the shop. He points at the default Joker, calling himself "this handsome Devil" and urges the player to try buying it. Explaining the purpose of Jokers, Jimbo mentions that he is one of 150 Jokers in the game, each one does something different. He uses himself as an example, saying the default Joker gives +4 Mult. Advising players to be picky, since they can only carry five Jokers at a time, he then urges the player to buy the other card in the shop as well. The second card will always be a Tarot, Jimbo uses this opportunity to explain what Tarot cards do. He then points at the Voucher in the shop and tells players to save money so the purchased Voucher can passively upgrade their run. When telling them that Vouchers restock after every Boss Blind defeated, he also directs their attention towards the Booster Packs sold at the bottom.
