BalooKhan is the slash ship between Baloo and Shere Khan from the The Jungle Book and TaleSpin fandom.
Canon[]
The Jungle Book (1967)[]
Baloo seemed largely indifferent towards Shere Khan, with the few interactions they get not suggesting anything close to a personal history between each other. This changes when the "man-cub" Mowgli befriends Baloo, with the latter unintentionally feeding into Mowgli's desire to stay in the jungle. This frustrates Mowgli's current guardian Bagheera as he was trying to get Mowgli to man village to protect him from Shere Khan's wrath, but Baloo had no way of knowing that. When Bagheera tries to explain that Mowgli does not have what it takes to survive in the jungle during their last night together, Baloo dismisses that, but changes his tune once Bagheera mentions that Shere Khan is out to get Mowgli. Though Baloo does acknowledge that Shere Khan is a threat, he asks Bagheera why Shere Khan would be interested in harming Mowgli directly, since the boy has no way or reason to attack Shere Khan. Much like Mowgli did earlier when Bagheera tried to explain the same thing to him, Baloo naively suggests that simply explaining that Mowgli does not pose a threat to him would be enough to get Shere Khan to leave him alone. Bagheera finally manages to convince Baloo into letting Mowgli go when it is established that Shere Khan does not care how old Mowgli is or whether he has access to fire or guns, so Baloo reluctantly agrees to tell Mowgli that they can't stay together as staying in the jungle would only put Mowgli in danger.
However, when Baloo takes Mowgli aside the next morning to tell him what Bagheera told him to say, Mowgli does not take the news well as he had already refused to listen to Bagheera before. Believing that Baloo broke his trust, Mowgli runs away from him, Baloo loses sight of him shortly after when trying to chase him. When Bagheera blames Baloo for Mowgli running away, Baloo explains that he was just following his orders, so they agree to split and try to find Mowgli before Shere Khan does.
Searching endlessly, Baloo finally runs into Mowgli in the barren outskirts of the jungle, but unfortunately Shere Khan found the boy first. Without breaking a sweat, Baloo rushes in to try warding the tiger off, holding him by his tail to stop him from getting closer to Mowgli. Shere Khan is merely annoyed at the big oaf and brutally knocks him down, barring a group of vultures Mowgli befriended earlier, the boy is left to fend for himself now. When Mowgli manages to tie a burning branch lighted by a bolt of lightning to Shere Khan's tail, the tiger runs off as fire is one of the few things he truly fears, thus giving Mowgli some space to grief for Baloo. Soon joined by Bagheera lamenting how he couldn't arrive earlier to save Baloo from Shere Khan, the two of them are relieved when Baloo slowly wakes up as Shere Khan merely knocked him unconscious. When Baloo praises Mowgli for using his wits against Shere Khan, Bagheera was about to agree that Mowgli may have what it takes to survive if it weren't for them stumbling across the man village after all.

This continuity features Baloo and Shere Khan taking the places of humans, Baloo is a pilot while Shere Khan is a CEO. Though there is a mutual dislike between them, Baloo is still happy to work for Shere Khan and treats him like he would treat any other client.

The BalooKhan ship is a rarepair in both fandoms it appears in, as both are far more commonly shipped with other characters. Though the ship is a little more common in the TaleSpin fandom, AO3 has currently an even split between fics tagged for the cartoon and the original Rudyard Kipling novels.
