The Speed Force giving Speedsters the ability to travel through time it allows Barry to meet his future family members and allies, Bart being one of them. Inspired by tales of the Flash, Bart decided to use his powers to become a hero like his grandpa. While his father and aunt were tricked into becoming villains, to fight against Flash. Because Bart and his late father were born as Speedsters, from inheriting their powers from Barry, it has allowed the speed force to be stronger in Bart.

In the Arrowverse, Bart is presented as Barry's son than grandson from the future. The two meet when Nora returns from the future and brings Bart with her, and because she haven't mentioned her brother before then, Bart's existence and arrival came as a surprise to Barry. Thankfully his time getting to know and mentor Nora has helped him to act as a father towards Bart.
Young Justice[]

Barry first learns about Bart from the young heroes who encountered him when he arrived in their timeline, as they give their current Flash a heads up, by phone, about the young Speedster who claims to be his future grandson. Seconds before Bart arrives at the Allen house, where he gives his grandpa's prime self a hug; without worrying of hurting him. At first Barry wasn't sure if Bart's claim was true or not, with him having no kids of his own, until Iris reveals that she is pregnant. She originally wanted to tell Barry this later in private, but Bart's unexpected arrival spoiled the surprise. Bart's excitement of meeting younger versions of his grandparents and the Garricks who he views as honorary great-grandparents, he forgets to be careful with revealing certain future events and details. Like the fact that Barry is going to be a father of twins, a shock to both him and Iris, while Bart just realised his mistake at that moment.
Bart wanted to enjoy their peaceful family moment longer, knowing the events that were to going to happen after Iris answers a phone call, but when Barry learns that a villain is crying out for his blood, he knew that he has to stop him. Despite Bart telling him not to leave. Although Barry tells Bart to stay in the house and that they'll properly talk after he comes back in a flash, Bart wasn't going to let his grandpa face this battle alone. Allowing Bart to save Barry's life.

BarryBart is one of the less explored familial relationships within the DC fandom. As well as the Flash fandom. This is due to Bart's introduction happening while Barry is dead. As well as the two not being very close in many comics. On AO3, there are currently 55+ written works.

Trivia[]
- In the Smallville episode Bart first appeared in, "Barry Allen" was used as one of Bart's aliases. The backstory Bart told Clark in "Run" was similar to Barry's, gaining his powers in an accident.
