Bartylus is the slash ship between Bartemius Crouch Jr. and Regulus Black from the Harry Potter fandom.
Canon[]
Regulus and Barty are from pureblooded families on the Sacred 28. Both attended Hogwarts around the same time.
Regulus entered Hogwarts in 1972, and was sorted into Slytherin. Barty most likely entered Hogwarts in 1973, and his sorting is unknown, but is suspected to be Slytherin. The two have no confirmed canonical relationship.
During his Hogwarts years, Barty got twelve OWLs, a point that is quite impressive. It is unknown how many OWLs or NEWTs Regulus had, but it is confirmed that he played Quidditch for at least a year. He occupied the position of Seeker.
Both Barty and Regulus joined Lord Voldemort. However, Regulus grew disillusioned and defected from the Death Eaters. He discovered the location of one of Voldemort's Horcruxes, swapping it out for a fake. Unfortunately, Regulus was dragged down to the bottom of the lake by Inferi in the process. His date of death is unknown, but he died in 1979- making him roughly eighteen.
On the other hand, Barty was one of Voldemort's closest supporters until the end of his life. He did quite a few things as a Death Eater, including but not limited to torturing Alice and Frank Longbottom to insanity, imprisoning Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody, and luring Harry Potter to the graveyard where Voldemort would later be resurrected. He was the first person to successfully break out of Azkaban in over three hundred years.
During Harry's fourth year, he impersonated Mad-Eye Moody after imprisoning the Auror in his own magical trunk. Barty also rigged the Goblet of Fire in Harry's name, in a plot to hand him to Lord Voldemort. After the Triwizard Tournament and the subsequent death of Cedric Diggory, however, he was discovered attempting to kill Harry Potter by Professor Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall. On Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge's orders, Barty was given the Dementor's kiss on June 24th, 1995. He likely died between June 24th, 1995 to June 18th, 1996.

Bartylus is an up-and-coming ship, one that was largely popularized by the "babygirlification" of Regulus Black, and the subsequent building of a (likely fanonical) friend group for him. In the early days of Marauders fanfiction, both Regulus and Barty were depicted as villains, but they are now mostly shown in a positive light. Once the Marauders fandom began to lean towards LGBTQ+ characters, Bartylus gained supporters as a friends-to-lovers ship.
Although the earliest Bartylus fanfiction was written in 2003, it still remains relatively underground compared to ships like Jegulus and Rosekiller.

Trivia[]
- Regulus was drowned in a lake by Inferi after he ingested the Drink of Despair in an effort to get Slytherin's locket, one of Lord Voldemort's seven Horcruxes.
- Barty may also have been in Ravenclaw, as it produces the second most amount of Dark wizards- most likely due to the students' pursuit of knowledge.
- Regulus and Barty are largely headcanoned to have three other friends: Dorcas Meadowes, Evan Rosier, and Pandora (last name unknown).
- Regulus had a house-elf, Kreacher, whom he adored. This house-elf was the reason behind his betrayal of Voldemort and eventual death.
