Basecase is the het ship between Baseball and Suitcase from the Inanimate Insanity fandom.
Canon[]
In "Breaking the Ice", Suitcase apologises to Baseball for Knife being mean to him and calling him fat. She later says she wants to join his and Nickel's alliance. Baseball says that she's armless like them. Therefore, she's the perfect candidate. They both get on the team the Grand Slams. During the dodgeball game, Baseball kicks the ball to the Bright Lights after Lightbulb ironically tells the other team they can keep on attacking each other. Unfortunately, Lightbulb caught it and made Baseball leave. Suitcase copies him, saying she'll avenge them by following in their footsteps. The ball she kicked gets sent in Test Tube's arms. Suitcase unironically exclaims how that was unexpected.
In "Marsh on Mars", Suitcase tells her alliance she has all the tools they need. When she opened herself, Baseball said the challenge would be like a walk in the park, an idiom for something easy. When Baseball asked who wants to go inside the rocket, Balloon asks if he can. Baseball, ridiculed, jumps to the conclusion that he would hack their rocket. Suitcase explains to Baseball that Balloon's redeeming himself. He eventually accepts.
In "A Kick in the Right Direction", Baseball tells Microphone to be the goalie. Microphone complains and asks Suitcase if she thinks it's fair. She answers that if that's what her alliance member wants, that she should listen to it.
In "Let Er' R.I.P.", all of the Grand Slams run away from Baseball, Suitcase, Nickel and Balloon to the mansion. When Suitcase screams out "yay!" after seeing she will be in the mansion with Balloon, Baseball and Nickel copy her sarcastically. As they're roaming around, Nickel scares Suitcase. She says she never saw him as the ghost story type. Baseball corrects her that he is. When Suitcase and Balloon ran away from Nickel's ghost story, Baseball exclaimed he would pass on it.
In "Everything's A-OJ", after OJ eliminated Suitcase on random, Baseball, saddened, asked himself how they could lose her like that. He later adds how it's unfair. He would later complain about Suitcase's elimination throughout most of the episode.
In "Theft and Battery", Suitcase is playing soccer with Baseball and Nickel. She confesses how, after being eliminated, she should take the competition more seriously. Baseball answered how he was scared of losing her. After Nickel said they need the numbers to advance, Baseball, angrily, corrected him that they need her because she's their friend. In the Meeple Headquarters, Nickel mimicked Baseball, acting like he said Suitcase should steal the cure for MePhone. Suitcase becomes anxious and asks him if he's serious. Baseball corrects her that it's not stealing. Suitcase finally accepts. As she's leaving, Baseball gives off a worried look. Later on, Baseball told Nickel that he hopes they didn't push Suitcase too far.
In "Rain On Your Charade", Suitcase is sitting down, upset from the past challenge. Baseball comes over to her and asks her why she's alone. He later explained that when he and Nickel suggested she should steal the battery, he didn't want to make her uncomfortable. She confessed that she has never felt so much pressure before, thinking she was going to suffer death for stealing. Baseball continues, saying that Nickel expects a lot from everyone all the time, but that he still believes in them. Suitcase ignores him until he asks "Alliance forever?". She answers "Yeah", but is unsure if she wants to stay with the team.
In "Mazed and Confused", after Baseball saw Suitcase and Balloon, he advised they should all go together. As Nickel and Suitcase are fighting about Balloon, Baseball tells them to calm down. It turns out Balloon was listening to the entire conversation, and after having another fight with Nickel, Baseball whispers to Suitcase she has to talk to him.
In "Kick the Bucket", Baseball tries to explain to Nickel how separating Suitcase and Balloon would be hypocritical, saying that they should let her have a friend. During the elimination, as Suitcase was explaining why she voted for Nickel, Baseball got worried, rolled his eyes, and asked her if their conversation didn't mean anything to her. Suitcase answered how he says he disagrees with Nickel's tactics but never act against them. Baseball got angry and said he doesn't answer to anyone and is just trying to keep the team stable.
In "Alternate Reality Show", Baseball drew darkness with only black paint, leaving Suitcase concerned. Later, as Suitcase is talking to Microphone, Baseball glances at her with an extremely angry expression.
In "Hatching the Plan", Baseball, feeling forced, tries to break up Test Tube and Suitcase, but his plan doesn't work. Later, Suitcase and Baseball are talking to each other. He asks her if she's holding up. She explains how he thought standing up for herself would make her feel better, but it is harder. He tries to comfort her to ignore Test Tube, saying that it's nothing personal. He later adds how he wishes to fix everything. She explains how he can't fix anything. She thanks him for the talk.
In "Truth or Flare", Suitcase told Baseball that she voted for Nickel to stand up to herself. She continued that he wasn't her friend, but Baseball resented her for it. She comes to the conclusion that him voting out Test Tube isn't the same as her voting out Nickel. When Taco asked him if he forgives her, he answers yes. Later, she asks Baseball if he finally realises why she voted for Nickel, and he answers she wasn't getting the recognition she deserves. Despite that, she chose Knife over him.
Fanon[]
Basecase is not a very popular ship in the Inanimate Insanity fandom. It gets hate, however, since Baseball was more of a friend to Nickel, and throughout half the season treated Suitcase as an ally. Their interactions in "Rain On Your Charade" and "Hatching the Plan", alongside him being who comforts Suitcase the most may have sparked the ship, but Suitcase still felt upset even after those.
