Batman: The Animated Series[]
MAD LOVE
Joker is in the midst of taking out Commissioner Gordon's teeth, when Batman busts in. He calls his hint of teeth sloppy, when Harley interrupts to say they were her idea. She then sprays Batman with knock out gas, and gives a quip. Joker angrily says that he's the one that gives the punchlines, which she nervously agrees with. He pulls her out of the room and throws a grenade as he escapes the building with Harley.
Harley later captures Batman and hangs him upside down in a piranha tank to try and pull off one of Joker's plans. She explains that once Batman is out of the way she and Joker can settle down, and Batman starts laughing. She put off by this, when Batman says that Joker's been playing her this whole time, listing ways he's gained sympathy from others over the years. She tells him to stop when he lands on the story he told Harley, causing her to cry. She goes back into denial and insists that Joker does love her and starts to lower him into the tank, till Batman points out that Joker will never believe Harley actually killed him.
Harley calls Joker who arrives and furiously slaps her. Joker tells Batman that he'll be just a minute, and Harley confusedly asks why he's mad. Joker is mad as he wants to be the one to take out Batman, but Harley says that she just modified his plan so the piranha frowns look like smiles. He says that explaining it ruins it and pushes her out a window. He then lets Batman down, apologizing for Harley and says they'll do this another time. Joker seems to make an escape on a train, but Batman is able to follow him. He tells Joker that Harley got closer than Joker ever did to killing him, and the only way he could think to escape was getting Harley to call Joker. As he knew Joker's ego would never let anyone but him make the killing blow.

BatJokeley is a rarepair in the DC fandom. Mostly due to Harley and Joker as a ship not being seen as very popular among fans. Especially given how they've interacting less as comics have gone on. Meaning that fans are less likely to ship Joker with both Harley and Bruce. On AO3, BatJokeley is the sixth most written poly ship for Bruce. There are currently 4 written works.
