Batevra is the het ship between Batman and Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi from the The Lego Movie fandom.
Canon[]
The conflict of the second movie starts with an alien named General Mayhem invading Apocalypseburg in search for their "fiercest leader". Once she infiltrates their hideout, she explains that she needs them for a "matrimonial ceremony". Thrilled at being given the title, Batman immediately declares himself leader, but this causes an overall argument over who is actually leader of their anarchist society. Emmet and Lucy eventually argue that, since everyone became special five years ago, everyone should be leader, but General Mayhem refuses to take everyone due to storage concerns on her ship. So she settles on abducting the first five people who attack her, Batman being one of the first ones.
On their way to the Systar System, Batman and the others are genuinely impressed by the new location, much to Lucy's chagrin as she doesn't trust the Systarians. It is then that they meet the Systarian Queen for the first time, initially mistaking the princess sitting on her horse form for her. Still as the horse, she introduces herself as Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi, called that since she can take any form she desires and offers to take a form they are more comfortable with. However, when Lucy gets increasingly frustrated at the Queen refusing to explain her motives, the Queen answers her in song. Though Batman is initially just as frustrated as Lucy at being roped into a musical number, he quickly takes a shine to Queen Watevra as she offers him "half of everything". Once the song ends, she explains that she means that she will take Batman's hand in marriage to unite their two factions. Batman is horrified to hear that, greatly enjoying his life as a "Bat-chelor", but Queen Watevra hurries her guests to the spa to prepare them for the wedding.
Though Lucy suspects the spa is just a trick to allow the Queen to brainwash them, everyone else, Batman included greatly enjoy their treatment, even dancing along to mindless bubblegum pop Lucy hates. While Lucy manages to escape beneath notice, Batman and the others are brought to Queen Watevra to prepare the wedding. When General Mayhem reports that Lucy went missing and casts doubt on her queen managing to convince Batman to accept the marriage, Watevra eases her concerns by telling her "she got this". During a dinner with her yet-to-betrothed, Watevra uses reverse psychology, telling Batman that she was only interested in marrying him to make Superman jealous. This works as it hurts Batman's ego and he becomes invested in the idea of marrying her, only for her to play hard to get. When he finally gets down on one knee (metaphorically, he doesn't have knees) and presents her a ring, she happily accepts his proposal.
In the last hour before the wedding, Watevra is acting extremely agitated about everything going perfectly, but acts very sweet towards Batman. When they finally have a normal conversation, Batman realizes just how much he has in common with her, they are both wealthy/powerful, but extremely lonely and only having a sardonic butler for consistent company. When Lucy teams up with Emmet and his new mentor Rex Dangervest to crash the wedding and hopefully prevent Armamageddon, she manages to sneak past Batman and the Queen as they are far too busy sweet-talking towards each other, greatly annoying the Queen's butler Ice Cream Cone.
When the wedding is finally starting, Batman sees his bride take on her original form: a large, multi-colored heart. Lucy recognizes this as the first gift Emmet had made as a peace offering the first time the Duplo Aliens attacked five years ago, realizing that the entire Systar System is built on a first of kindness Emmet had made. But when Emmet, increasingly cynical because of Rex's toxic influence comes to crash the wedding, Lucy fails to stop him as Emmet stopped trusting her, destroying the foundation of the wedding and causing Armamageddon.
With all of the residents of the two worlds being sucked into the Bin of Storaj, Batman is forced to watch his wife dissolve into the bricks she's made of right in-front of him. Inside the Bin of Storaj, Batman joins all of his friends and the Systarians expressing their lament over wanting to coexist in the first place, believing it to be impossible. But Lucy then rallies them up by telling them it is not too late to set things right and the Bin is opened, allowing them to move around freely again.
Queen Watevra is restored to life and reunites with Batman, the two of them join Lucy's quest to built spaceships to save Emmet from ending up like Rex. Watevra turns herself into a spaceship for Batman to fly in, telling him that she'll protect him, but Batman has none of that and rebuilds her so that he will protect her instead. This goes on for a few seconds, with Ice Cream Cone commenting that he's starting to enjoy hearing them.
Once Emmet is saved, the Apocalypseburgers and Systarians rebuilt their two worlds as a singular world, with Batman and Watevra joining the others in happy co-existence.
Fanon[]
Batevra became a popular ship in the fanbase after the release of the second movie, with many commenting that they make for a genuinely compelling couple despite their relationship being played as a joke. A common plot in fanwork is Batman introducing his wife to the Batfamily, often with Robin being thrilled at having an alien stepmother in addition to a superhero dad. Watevra is usually drawn a lot more humanoid in shipping art, fanartist like to give her long gooey hair.
It is rivalled by BatJokes, which is the most popular ship for the Batman-centered spin-off, though some have resolved tension by just shipping all three with each other.
