BeanMora is the femslash ship between Bean and Mora from the Disenchantment fandom.

Canon[]

Bean and Mora developed a close relationship after the latter was saved by the former thanks to Elfo's late realization that Mora was being left behind in P.T Freak Show. Eventually, after bonding with each other sharing significative moments, they started feeling attraction to each other, to the point that they had kissed in two different occasions. Though it was left ambiguous whether they'd end up as a couple or not, it is strongly implied a possible endgame romance throughout the hints between seasons 3 and 4.

Season 3[]

Beanmora

First meeting.

While Bean and Elfo were still fleeing from lightbulb robots, Elfo realizes that Mora was still locked in P.T. Freak Show, and Bean asks about her. Elfo describes her being a beautiful mermaid but sassy for being a fish with an annoying voice, as he realizes he was talking about himself, he takes the lead to P.T. Freak Show while Bean groans as she follows him to free Mora. When they arrive, Mora was relieved seeing that Elfo had brought a stronger friend, while Elfo complains about that. After Bean helps him breaking the tank Mora was in, and as the water flowed, Mora ends up on top of Bean, and then Elfo introduces both to each other as Mora smiles at Bean while she gets off on top of her. After sharing a friendly talk and introductions, Elfo opens up a wooden hatch to take Mora to the ocean, and as she leaves, Bean bids her farewell.

As they were still being followed by the lightbulb robots, they plan to escape in a ship which was parked at a dock. When Bean notices that the rope connecting with the ship was still tied up, it was almost late until Mora appears to help them getting out by removing it. Bean is surprised by her making an appearance, as Mora was pulled onto the ship by her, who then thanks for the rescue and offers to come with them, in which she agrees.

Meanwhile, Elfo looks around the engine room to try to repair the ship, Mora and Bean had gotten a little more closer. The first tells Bean that she wanted to be an actor, but couldn't as she didn't have legs to begin with and instead she was hired as an animation dubbing artist.

Beanmora-6

After Bean mentioned Mora that she had kissed Elfo, they end up talking about their previous relationships. Night arrives and Mora tells Bean something about the night sky and how the mermaids use it as a guide, as both Bean and Mora are seemingly starting to fall in love with each other.

The next morning, Mora disappears while Bean and Elfo drive on without her, as Bean was seemingly sad while believing that it was all a dream. Because of the heavy fog that was on sea, their ship hits a sandbank and Bean, sitting on the railing, is thrown off from the ship and hits a stone with her head at a beach in Dreamland. The hit causes her to pass out and the last thing she sees is Elfo, who wants to get help. Some time later she wakes up and sees Mora in the water in front of her, who persuades her to come into the water, they swim together to the mermaid island. Bean hesitates at the beginning due to her not able to swim at all, and while persuaded, she held hands with Mora, which apparently means that if someone held a mermaid's hand, they could breath underwater.

Once arrived at the mermaid island, Mora says that she left because she didn't want to get hurt and came back because she never learns. The other mermaids warmly greet Mora and celebrate a festival in honor of her. Towards evening Mora wants to show a special beach that she always goes to clear her head to Bean. Mora gives Bean a necklace with a gold starfish and sings her a beautiful song, accompanied by an ukulele.

Necklace on the shore

After the song, they kiss and spend the night together on the beach. The next morning, Bean wakes up on the beach where she hit her head and is desperately looking for her necklace. But when she couldn't find it, she believes it was all just a dream for the second time. Elfo, who couldn't find any help, tries to get Missi (the ship they were on) back into the water, but she sinks. Both are sad about their lost love and walk sadly along the beach. Though, at the end of the episode, as Elfo and Bean walk away from the beach, Bean doesn't notice the necklace wash up on the shore behind her; confirming it was all real.

While still heartbroken, both arrive at Dreamland while Bean lays down on her bed as she surprisingly meets Oona there. As the latter notices about Bean's situation, she relates how she once was in love too and when it came to an end, she wanted to die. Still on topic, Bean complains about she being still stuck with the feeling of heartbreak inside her and that she didn't have the chance to enjoy the fun part of a relationship. As she gives a large summarize of what had happened between her and [Mora], Oona tells her that she mustn't run from reality, and things like booze wouldn't help her. They end up consuming drugs after Bean asks what would help her if it wasn't booze. She and Oona end up running around the castle while Bean was talking un-stop, but later she is seemingly fine as she has already forgotten about the topic.

Season 4[]

Bean is found trapped inside the ruins of the sunken elf castle as she tries to escape from the flood which was starting, but couldn't manage to find an exit, which ended on making her fall unconscious due to the lack of oxygen. Mora then appears on her rescue and takes her back to the surface and performs RCP with Bean. When Mora notices Oona's ship heading to where they were, she grunts while she sadly bids farewell to Bean as she kisses her and goes back again inside the sea, leaving the necklace back to Bean. A moment later, Bean wakes up just right when Mora dives back and, while staring at the sea thus holding the necklace, falls on the sand with a smile on her face, realizing that her time spent with Mora was real.

When Elfo asks about how she could manage to head to the shore between them along with Oona and her crew, she lies saying a sea turtle had helped her, and while Elfo insisted that they weren't fast, Bean is notably irritated, and Elfo, with an indifferent look on his face, took her answer at face value and he wouldn't ask about her mysterious and new necklace that she was obviously hiding.

At the castle, Bean indirectly mentions her moments with Mora to her father, while questioning why couldn't stop thinking about the mermaid. Zøg highlights the word "mermaid" and Bean becomes protective of it warning her father that if he didn't like it, she would fight him. Zøg laughs as he mentions being in a relationship with a mermaid previously, and that hadn't work out. Bean advices him on going to find his love, as she made sure she would watch the throne. Zøg thanks her and he said she had to take her advice once in a while. As Zøg leaves the place, Bean worriedly assures she would think about it, and, while holding the necklace, concludes when she said she would do it for the rest of her life.

Bean leaves the castle and the throne to Page Boy, and walks without an apparent course, and when night arrives, she's seen sitting on the sand at the shore while asking a reflection of Mora made by the stars on the sky about how could she get over there when she wasn't present to reject Bean.

Bean starts to have a dream about everyone that was out to get her. Mora appears inside the dream to tell Bean to wake up when Bean sees her, and as the latter tries to reach Mora, she's waken up by Bunty with a bucket of water.

After Dagmar pushes Bean from the castle's balcony into the ocean, Mora once again saves her and as they encountered again, they immediately share a passionate kiss underwater, and so concluding season 4.

Behind the Scenes[]

Interviewer“One of the Part 3 storylines that had fans talking was the Bean and Mora romance. Some were questioning if it really happened, and whether or not that relationship will be revisited?”
John Weinstein“It did happen. The necklace appearing on the beach is a clear sign that it really happened. It’s important for the story that Bean isn’t sure if it was a dream. In Part 4, it’s confirmed to Bean that it was real. Mora is incredibly important to the overall story. She’s gone for a little bit, but she will be back. Part 4 isn’t going to be “Bean and Mora,” but Mora’s important to the ultimate arc. Their love is very real.”

Fanon[]

It's notably popular amongst Disenchantment's fans, although not as much as Elfo and Bean or Luci and Bean. It's really loved mainly because of lack of Bean's love interests around the show, mainly because she tends on being the one ruining her fellow relationships with men she was led to be married with, as she showed no interest on them at all. Mora was the exception though, as she seemed comfortable and fine with her by her side.

With Mora appearing as a side character and immediately becoming Bean's love interest, it surprised those who didn't really see Bean with anyone, and they became happy with the new romance developing between both characters. The start of the romance that was slowing developing, it made Bean a canon bisexual character. Due to the tomboy-ish behavior Bean has, it was already a bit obvious to some fans, and as mentioned, her lack of real romance between men excluiding Elfo and Luci.

There are others who are also worried about the relationship actually not happing while third season was out. This was because in episode 6 (season 3), Bean thought that all of her adventure with Mora was just "the craziest dream" she had, after realizing Mora wasn't with her when waking on the shore, questioning fans if the moments they had were actually just a dream like mentioned. But there were others who were relieved as there was a hint that it indeed had happened, which was Mora's necklace which she gave to Bean.

When season 4 was out, there was no sign on the relationship happening at the beginning, but at the end of the most recent season, fans exploded in excitement as Bean and Mora were reunited again together as they shared a kiss.

On Reddit, there's a theory about Mora being Bean's reflection of herself in her subconscious due to Dagmar constantly messing with Bean's dreams, trying to make her feel even worse and more abandoned and also because she knows about Bean's underwater sex fantasies, and the Mora in Bean's dream was just a mermaid version of herself.[2] There were also others who were worried about the ship being an endgame, as there were ones who said that since mermaids are known for attracting people for then killing them (making the ships sink), there was a possibility for the fans that it could happen with Mora and Bean, although the theory is often discarded as it was impossible to it to become a thing because of the already shared moments and trust that are between both girls.

It has 15 romantic works created in AO3, and also fan works created on Tumblr along with DeviantArt too.
