Oscar“Yes, we are strong and their team is weak.”

BickerShipping is the het ship between Oscar and Andi from the Pokémon fandom.

Canon[]

Oscar and Andi are a couple of Pokémon trainers who love to show off their love to the world with Pokémon tag battles as a couple, usually challenging other couples and duos to battle. To prove it, they only have a couple of Pokémon called Nidoking and Nidoqueen. They only appear in the episode "The Bicker The Better!" in Pokémon: Advanced Challenge.

It all starts in the middle of the argument and fight between Ash and May, while Brock and Max were waiting for everything to be settled. At this, Oscar and Andi appear together, introducing themselves to them and clarifying that love is their game. Oscar and Andi start calling Ash and May "in love".

Despite Ash and May's denials, Oscar and Andi insist otherwise, arguing that the more two people argue, the more they love each other. Even when the two were talking at the same time "I don't think so", Oscar and Andi also say that Ash and May talking at the same time is another sign of being in love.

Oscar and Andi then decide to challenge Ash and May to a battle, whereupon Ash changes his mind and decides to accept the battle alongside May, but only for the purpose of "improving" his battle experience and May improving for the Pokémon contests. Oscar and Andi send their Pokémon of each, Nidoking and Nidoqueen. To try to beat them, Ash sends his Corphish and May ends up hesitating for a moment, but in the end decides to bring out her Skitty.

The first moves, Bubble Beam and Ember, looked like they were going to weaken Nidoqueen and Nidoking in one hit, but they fail, falling at a point close to them. Corphish scolds Skitty for missing, but Skitty responds with Ember right at Corphish. Ash and May also begin to continue arguing and fighting, which is used by Oscar and Andi to make Nidoking and Nidoqueen use Dynamic Punch and cause great damage to Corphish and Skitty. Ash and May try once again to have their Pokémon try to hit their opponents, but Skitty ends up using Blizzard freezing Corphish and the Assist move only caused more problems to Corphish and even more when it manages to unfreeze it, which makes Corphish chase after Skitty. Ash and May further increased their intensity of arguing and fighting with each other, which leads Oscar and Andi to conclude that the two of them lack enough to be an excellent couple as they are.

Oscar & Andi with hearts

A characteristic of Oscar and Andi is that they like to show off orders to Pokémon with love.

Oscar and Andi decide to end the battle by ordering their Nidoking and Nidoqueen to use Submission. Nidoking and Nidoqueen grab each other as if to roll themselves like a wheel that ends up defeating Corphish and Skitty, who were more occupied in fighting each other than in the battle. Oscar and Andi once again prove that the power of love endures even in battle and decide to leave Ash and May to their fate but not whithout calling Ash and May a "happy couple", leaving the place and disappearing into the trees. Ash and May get even angrier clarifying "We are not a couple and we are not happy either".

Moments later, Oscar and Andi find Team Rocket, composed of Jessie, James and Meowth. As with Ash and May, Oscar and Andi think that Jessie and James are in love, so they decide to challenge them to a battle. James is the only one who denies being in love with Jessie, but she doesn't even think anything of it and decides to accept the challenge, thinking that they could kidnap Nidoqueen and Nidoking, Oscar and Andi's Pokémon.

Jessie and James' Pokémon begin the attack, but Nidoking and Nidoqueen's Dynamic Punches cause great damage to Cacnea and gets Cacnea in trouble, as it accidentally collided with Seviper, causing Seviper to simply constrict it. Jessie and James also start arguing and fighting, which is also used by Oscar and Andi to defeat them with Nidoqueen and Nidoking's heart-shaped Hyper Beam, blasting them off.

Oscar and Andi, now alone, come to the conclusion that their love triumphs over everything, time and time again. After this, they are never seen again throughout the anime.

Quotes[]

“Nidoking, Nidoqueen, show us the love with your Submission attacks.”
— Oscar & Andi when battling other couples.

Fanon[]

BickerShipping tends to be fairly popular only in the fanbase of the Advanced Generation season, as Oscar and Andi appear exclusively in the only episode of that season. Therefore, they are not usually talked about in the fanbases of other seasons of the Pokémon anime.

BickerShipping is seen by fans as something that tests both AdvanceShipping (Ash x May) and RocketShipping (Jessie x James) couple compatibility and there tend to be many interpretations by fans. While AdvanceShippers see that Ash and May will be a couple as predicted by Oscar and Andi, Anti-AdvanceShippers see it as a proof that Ash and May are not compatible because of the argument situation and that they lost easily as a couple, because of Ash and May's exact words "We are not a couple and we are not happy either".

There is no fanfic written about Oscar and Andi, as they are occasional characters who only appeared in one episode and therefore they're usually overshadowed by all of Ash's ships, including NegaiShipping and other protagonists' ships such as QuestShipping.
