Bigouge is the het ship between Big the Cat and Rouge the Bat from the Sonic the Hedgehog fandom.
Canon[]
While the ship hasn't been confirmed as canon, the ship has received nods from the animators and designers of modern-day Sonic media.
Many different writers from the Sonic Team or hired help have stated that Sonic Prime is a canon series, but even that has not been confirmed by a higher up yet. However, if it is ever confirmed as canon, that would make Bigouge to be a semi-canon ship.
While there aren't too many interactions between them both, there are some similarities to the characters that make them a good ship. One of these is how they physically appear. They both have big ears and notable white fluff at the sides of their face. While Big the Cat seems slightly clueless in personality, he's actually very smart and caring. Rouge on the other hand is very smart and capable, but she has shown to be even the exact opposite of that socially. Both of these personalities compliment each other well and would make them a good team.
Moments[]
- Rebel (Rouge) looks down the edge of a New Yoke City building and makes eye-contact with Denizen 1998 (Big) and then suddenly has a beam of empathy and motivation. Renegade Knucks stood behind her during this.
- Prim (Rouge) snatches from Mangey the berry that he had found, but she tosses it back to Hangry (Big). Gnarly and Mangey were equally as starving as Hangry and more hardworking. They both fought Hangry for the berry, while Prim didn't get annoyed by the fact she gave Hangry privilege over them.
- Prim's finger lands on Hangry's nose.
- Batten (Rouge) and Catfish (Big) work together and rescue each other from harm. And throughout the entirety of Sonic Prime, Rouge (in many different versions) has argued with at least one version of all of the characters except for Big.
Fanon[]
While the ship seems random to the majority of Sonic fans, some people believe the ship to have received nods in Sonic Prime. It can't be fully said who invented the idea of the ship at first, but the rumors behind the sudden growth of this ship notably dates back to when it first gained traction on the coding platform Scratch. Since then, the community for Bigouge has slowly been growing. It is still quite small, though.
This ship has been rumored to rival Knuxouge and Sonadow. The Bigouge shippers have taken the time to notice how Rouge seems much happier and less irritated around Big than she would around Knuckles or Shadow.
Proof of Bigouge being plausible has been found in Sonic Prime. Aside from that, the ship hasn't received too many nods or applause from fans of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.
The Sonic franchise has changed its characters overtime, and each character according to this official webpage have been customized to welcome the newer members of the Sonic fandom. By the change in the list, there is more room for Rouge and Big to have a relationship.
Comic book writer for Sonic IDW, Ian Flynn, has stated to the fandom that Team Dark have no special relationship anymore. What he means is that he isn't able to continue making Team Dark a team. This dilemma in the fandom is controversial, and therefor makes more room for the Bigouge shippers to roam freely. The only threat to Bigouge in the fandom are the nods to Knuxouge, another controversial topic. Shadouge is out of the picture now according to the state of what the fandom has been given either by Flynn or by SEGA themselves.
Bigouge shippers currently in the fandom have been seen spotting hidden references to Bigouge in the strangest forms of media.
