Blofend is the slash ship between James Bond and Ernst Stavro Blofeld from the James Bond fandom.

Canon[]

You Only Live Twice[]

Despite Bond’s previous encounters with Blofeld’s organization SPECTRE, their first official meeting was during one of Bond’s assignments in Japan. Blofeld revealed his plan to start a nuclear war to Bond, claiming that there was no way he could stop it, almost mocking him for his attempts to stop the organization. However, Bond manages to get out of the situation and destroy the rocket, starting a fight in the headquarters. Annoyed, Blofeld gets away, but Bond swears that he will catch up with him.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service[]

Blofeld is now plotting a way to defeat Bond after his last attempt failed. This time, he pretends to be a Count looking for a title, to provoke Bond into finding him, as was his current mission. The two meet, pretending that they didn’t recognize one another through Blofeld’s new disguise, and act mildly friendly, before Blofeld gets the upper hand and captures him. Blofeld once again mocks Bond for his attempts, which were weaker than last time, before Bond once again escapes. Blofeld proceeds to hold the world as ransom as he searches the nearby area for the spy. In the end, the two get into a fight down a ski slope, which seemingly ends in Blofeld’s death. Sadly for Bond, this was not the case, as he would end up being the driver that rammed into his car during his honeymoon with Tracy, and would be an accomplice in her death.

Diamonds are Forever[]

Now out for revenge, Bond begins a worldwide pursuit for Blofeld. His pursuit ends when he finds him, trying to create copies to disguise himself. Bond kills him in a cave, unaware that it was actually one of those copies. It would be only later on that Bond found out the truth, and would once again go after him, knocking him off an oil rig and into the sea, never to be seen again.

Spectre[]

In the second film continuity, new background between the two emerged. In this continuity, Bond was adopted by Hannes Oberhauser, the father of Blofeld, or as he was known then, Franz. Franz resented Bond growing up for taking away his father’s attention, and was determined to one day make him pay, or even make his life miserable. Franz would fake his death, renaming himself after his mother’s bloodline, with even Bond thinking that he had died in a mountain climbing accident.

Years later, the two met again, with Blofeld introducing himself to the now captured Bond. He tells him about what had happened in the past, as well as his great plan. Bond manages to escape, once again, but it doesn’t stop Blofeld from trying to go after him and making him even more miserable. He states to Bond that he could die in a building set to be exploded trying to find his love, or get to safety and rush the guilt. Bond goes after Madeleine, while Blofeld escapes in a helicopter. Afterwards, Bond shoots down the helicopter and almost kills Blofeld, but he restrains himself to do so.

No Time to Die[]

5 years have past since Bond captured Blofeld, and he returns to see him, wanting answers to the recent mysteries in the world. Blofeld doesn’t answer them, but does say that he staged the attack on Bond 5 years before that caused him to lose faith in Madeleine. Bond immediately strangles Blofeld, but is stopped by the others and goes to leave. Before he gets out, he takes one last look to see that Blofeld is now dead, and Bond immediately begins worrying if it was his fault.

Fanon[]

In the original continuity, the ship is moderately popular. Not too many fanworks focus on the ship, but fans are interested by the dynamic of arch-enemies. It can be overshadowed by other villain ships with Bond, like Jacisco. In the second film continuity, however, the ship is taken platonically due to them now being adoptive brothers, though fanfictions of a romantic pairing of this continuity do exist.

On AO3 and other fanfiction websites, the ship has very little pieces of fanfiction, around less than 20. Some fans ship it due to the two being arch-enemies, while others ship it due to their interesting dynamic.
