Blue Bucket is the het ship between Violet Beauregarde and Charlie Bucket from the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fandom.
Canon[]
Violet Beauregarde and Charlie Bucket are two of the five Golden Ticket winners. Charlie is the kind, humble protagonist from a poor family, while Violet is an arrogant, competitive gum-chewer obsessed with winning. Charlie is British, living near the Wonka Factory, while Violet lives in Atlanta, Georgia. They first meet when they arrive at the Wonka Factory for their tour.
In the 1971 film, Violet and Charlie have minimal interaction. Violet is vain and impatient, often bickering with Veruca Salt, while Charlie remains reserved. They are together during group scenes like the Fizzy Lifting Drinks room but have no direct exchanges.
In the 2005 film, Violet is openly rude to Charlie, and while the rest of the kids (except for Mike to a lesser extent and Veruca who never interacted with Charlie) treated Charlie poorly, Violet was noticeably the rudest to him. She snatches a lollipop from him during the factory tour and calls him a "loser" when he hesitates to take candy. Her brash attitude clashes with Charlie's quietness so it positions them as opposites. It‘s unknown how she reacted when Charlie won the prize.
In the original novel, Charlie and Violet do not interact directly.
Fanon[]
Blue Bucket is a rarepair in the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fandom, with a small but enthusiastic following, particularly among fans of the 2005 film due to Violet’s bold antagonism toward Charlie. Fans enjoy the Opposites Attract nature of the ship, with some believing that the two characters would help to balance each other out. Shippers tend to prefer writing and drawing about the two as adults, typically as a married couple. Due to the length of time between the factory tour and becoming adults, Violet has often mellowed out and is much kinder than she was as a child in these fanworks.
The Blue Bucket tag on AO3 has 20+ works and counting. It is in the top 10 most popular ship written under the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) tag. It is Charlie's fifth most popular ship, and Violet's third most popular. It is also the most popular het ship in the fandom.
