Bart was sent back in time to 2016 before the Reach invasion, in order to stop Jaime from becoming the leader of it's army. Although this was unknown to the team, including Jaime himself. Bart quickly befriended Jaime, hoping that the two's friendship would be an influence in stopping Jaime from turning. The two began to bond, and after Bart saved Jaime from being the Reach, he revealed to him the truth. Jaime wanted to find way of stopping himself from being taken over, but eventually would be under control by the Scarab. Bart ended up being the one to defend him most, as he knows that Jaime is as much a victim of the reach as anyone else.

Bluepulse is one of the more popular ships in the Young Justice fandom. Many people quickly becoming attached to their relationship after their first onscreen interactions. For many fans, it came across as Bart having a crush on Jaime. Shippers were disappointed that after season 2, their interaction weren't seen as much and the two weren't showcased as much. Meaning that the investment placed in the ship originally, started to die down a bit. Shippers were also disappointed when it was all but confirmed that Bart was in a relationship with Eduardo and Jaime was in a relationship with Traci. While many wanted more LGBT representation in Young Justice, they thought the relationship came out of nowhere, and would have been done better with one that most fans were already invested in.

Shippers often compare the ship to Boostle, given how they seem to mirror each other. With Jaime being Ted's successor for the Blue Beetle Legacy, and Bart being a very positive upbeat hero from the future. It is often joked that if Bluepulse shippers ended up reading the comics, they would end up shipping Boostle, and if Boostle shippers watched Young Justice, they would end up shipping Bluepulse. Some also have Boostle be set in the Young Justice tv series, and have the two have an influence in Bart and Jaime getting together.

On AO3, Bluepulse is the most written ship for both Jaime and Bart. It is also the fourth most written ship in the Young Justice - All Media Types tag and the third most written in the Young Justice (Cartoon) tag. There are currently 1000+ written works.
