BombJay is the slash ship between Bomb and OJ from the Inanimate Insanity fandom.

Inanimate Insanity[]
OJ and Bomb are both chosen by Balloon to be on his team, later named Team Chickenleg. In the challenge, Bomb talks to OJ about him thinking Balloon kicking Taco up a tree was harsh. OJ doesn't mind if it means that Taco is able to give them lemons for the challenge. Bomb tries to tell OJ that Taco won't understand him since he thinks Taco doesn't speak English.
Balloon approaches OJ and Bomb to form an alliance, hoping that it will help him get in the game further. Balloon is about to call the two idiots only to stop himself and refer to them as friends that he could form an alliance with. While Bomb doesn't understand what an alliance is, OJ hesitantly accepts and is suspicious of what Balloon is planning. Later when Balloon tries to pressure Salt into jumping the gorge, he tries to get his alliance to support him only to see Bomb and OJ ordering Chinese food in the distance. OJ is later seen carrying the food over, only for him to trip and cause the box to fly and hit Bomb, exploding him.
During their team's first elimination, Balloon tries to get his alliance to back him up after being voted on. OJ votes Balloon out as well and Bomb follows him in doing so. Afterwards, OJ tells Bomb that he's glad Balloon is gone. They then add Pickle and Taco to their alliance so that it can stay alive. In the challenge, OJ agrees to work together with Bomb to collect candy for their team. The two find a tree with candy inside and OJ asks Bomb to help him get to it. Bomb holds OJ up so that he can reach for candy inside of the tree's branches. Afterwards, OJ and Bomb end up being the only two from their team to return any pieces of candy. While their team loses from this, MePhone gives immunity to OJ and Bomb.
In the following elimination, the two are given cookies and OJ gives his to Bomb, saying that the chocolate isn't good for his acidic structure. Bomb ends up throwing the cookies away, annoying OJ.
For the Christmas challenge, Bomb tells OJ that he wants to get a tree for the team. Salt insists that she takes OJ with her instead, making OJ ask for them to all go together. Later when Salt tries flirting with OJ, Bomb interrupts her so that they can focus on taking the tree back with them.
MePhone makes the contestants cross a desert for the next challenge. At the start, OJ points out the cacti to Bomb as Paper uses the latter to blow the cacti up. Momentarily, Bomb returns to OJ's confusion. The two come across a fence and OJ asks Bomb to help him get over it. Bomb is unsure at first of how to do so and then decides to throw OJ off to the other side. When OJ asks Bomb how he'll get over it, Bomb threatens the fence and makes it run away. When the two come across quicksand, a desert monster named Tyler Bungard sucks it up for them. OJ and Bomb are creeped out by it and run away to the finish line. The two get into a disagreement over who should cross it and win immunity as Bomb slaps OJ when he calls himself more deserving to win for being smarter. Bomb then pushes OJ so he can take the win for himself. Though, he still invites OJ, along with everyone except for Balloon, to his trip around the Earth that he won.
Before the next challenge, OJ breaks up the alliance to Pickle's surprise. He explains his annoyance towards Bomb and calls him out when Bomb tries to approach OJ. Recalling how Bomb betrayed him in the previous challenge, OJ accepts him as a backstabber and decides to make a new alliance with Paper. During the challenge, Paper notices OJ feeling upset and hears from OJ about Bomb acting selfish. Paper relates to how his former friend Knife had betrayed him as well and he and OJ bond over this.
In the next elimination, Bomb ends up getting the most votes out. OJ says that Bomb deserved it for betraying him as Bomb is sent flying away.
When the contestants are sent to capture the eliminated ones after their escape, OJ catches Bomb and turns him in to MePhone, still calling him a backstabber.
During the penultimate challenge when the eliminated contestants choose who they want out next, Bomb votes for OJ. OJ yells that Bomb has caused him enough pain, which Bomb disagrees with.
In the finale, Bomb supports OJ winning over Taco. Though during the mini-challenge of catching an eliminated contestant, OJ is told by Nickel to catch Bomb and put him in the bin. Bomb then runs away screaming, making an annoyed OJ go after him.
After the season, Bomb and OJ are said to be on better terms. However, since OJ is sensitive to acts of betrayal, they aren't as close of friends as they used to be.[1][2]
Fanon[]
Bombjay is one of Bomb's most popular ships, though it is not as common on OJ's side. The ship stemmed from their early friendship in the first season, since Bomb was willing to help OJ out with challenges. However, when Bomb ended up betraying OJ and got eliminated for it not too long afterwards, interest in the two began to fade especially more on OJ's side. Though, shippers like to jokingly call it when they "divorced". The ship is still notable for the two because of the time of when they were allies, having a following on platforms such as Twitter and Tumblr. It is rivaled by the later-canon ship PayJay for OJ, as well as Mephoj in terms of popularity.
On AO3, as of February 2, 2025, the ship has 31 works under its romantic tag and 7 in its platonic tag. It is the most written ship for Bomb and the third most for OJ on the site.
