Bookira is the femslash ship between Book and Kira from the Battle for Dream Island and Dogs in Space fandoms.
Canon[]
Book and Kira are from two different series without any official crossovers. Because of this, they do not know of each other. They share similarities that overlap with one another throughout each of their shows, however.
Both characters had developed abandonment issues that they did not previously start off with. They had convinced themselves that someone close to them had left them for their better good. For Book, she thought that Taco had left them for their team's poor performance in a previous challenge when in reality she was trapped in a jawbreaker and could not communicate with the team. For Kira, she led herself to believe that no one was looking for her during her time in the stranded planet, unknowing that her owner Olga was looking for her the whole time. Both Book and Kira's abandonment issues later overtake their sense of thought and make it their priority to serve justice against their targets.
Book and Kira end up convincing someone close to them to get on board with their judgement. For Book, she had convinced many of her team members, Ice Cube, Lollipop, and Saw, that Taco had left them and uses Taco leaving them in another challenge as further support towards her judgment. What they do not realize is that Taco left them this time to trick another team into losing in order to keep them safe. For Kira, she becomes known for her distrust in humans by the rest of her crew and even ends up getting Garbage to agree with her after a mishap in a mission causes him to think that his owner Chelsea had used him. Both team BLEH and Garbage are convinced for the most part until their loyalties against Book and Kira's respective goals begin to show. Lollipop overhears Bell scold Taco for almost making her team lose and realizes that Taco had left their team for the right cause and not out of spite. Book begins to grow weary of Lollipop when she begins to trust Taco more and as a result, the rest of the team realizes their irrationality towards Taco and grows annoyed of Book's constant bickering. For Garbage, he is initially on board with building a device that Kira wanted to help the other dogs with their loyalties but quickly condemns her when he realizes the machine strips the dogs of their sapience. Garbage reveals his loyalty to humans when he is forced to choose between saving Happy or following with Kira's plan, shooting her machine to stop her from transforming Happy. Both team BLEH and Garbage are met with great disapproval for going against their respective perspectives of Book and Kira.
Both end up having some object close to them used by one of their peers that ends up convincing them that they were in the wrong. For Book, she is told by Gaty after having a private conversation with her about Taco to look herself up in her, given that she is a dictionary. Book is curious by this after Gaty walks away and after doing so, realizes that everyone else now sees her as a mean and irrational friend. For Kira, while attempting to take over the M-Bark, Garbage uses a jar of fireflies that contain a message from Olga to snap Kira out of her stance against humans. Although a struggle, Garbage and his crew end up successfully relaying the message and Kira realizes that her owner was looking for her all along.
Both Book and Kira end up with deep regret after realizing their abandonment issues got the best of them. Book has a talk with Pin over trying to gain the respect back from Taco and how her closest friend Ice Cube no longer trusts her because of it. Kira breaks down after hearing the message, tearing up in front of the crew and apologizes for her attempted hijack of the ship. After their respective solutions, both of them end up parting ways with the people they originally projected their issues with. Book ends up on a different team in the next season of the series and Kira takes a pod back to Earth and befriends Garbage's owner Chelsea the next time we see her. The two overall have a good care for their peers and their surroundings which was briefly overshadowed by their lapsed judgement of a situation out of their control getting the best of them. While Kira was able to reunite with Garbage's crew at some point, Book has yet to talk with any of her old team members in Battle for BFDI after bidding them farewell.
Fanon[]
The ship is a rare pairing in both fandoms. Crossover ships between the two shows are uncommon since not many people are fans of both and most Battle for Dream Island crosships are with another object show. The pairing has a small following on Twitter, sparked by those who are a fan of the two characters. Interest in their dynamic and appreciation posts mainly makes up the content between them, as well as the idea of Kira joining Book's team in the competition if they shared a universe. Because of obscurity, the ship is overshadowed by their more popular ones such as Booklow, Tacobook, Kirbage, and Kiromi.
